  1. OK.....I guess I'm going to question the bolded statement. So....now the middle class in this country are working minimum wage and can't even afford food and basic living expenses at the end of the month? Ummmm.....no. Lumping the middle class and poor into the same group was egregious, but that's definitely true for the poorest among us in the US. But just because the middle class can put food on the table, does that mean they're still not getting the short end of stick. The price charts showing average employee vs. CEO wage growth are pretty egregious too, IMO. The prices we pay for healthcare ARE too damn high. The cost of education is ridiculous. I'm not in favor of raking successful entrepreneurs over the coals and draining the bank accounts. Nor am I in favor of some of the socioeconomic hardships that far too many people in the lower income brackets face every day. There's got to be a better middle ground than we have right now in there somewhere. I'm not arguing with most of this post. I completely agree with the red part. I'm all for discussing how to improve life for the middle class and more so the poor. However, I have always had a problem (from both sides) when conditions are exaggerated to make a point. That's what it seemed like you were doing there. If someone is in the middle class, can their life be improved? Sure. But, they aren't typically working crappy jobs for minimum wage or even struggling to get by at the end of the month. A middle class person is living pretty well. The problem in that category is...again...stuff like the red part above.
  2. Good read on both Gebbia and Coan. http://www.omaha.com/huskers/recruiting-qb-sweepstakes-heats-up-between-tristian-gebbia-and-jack/article_b8f588f2-e478-11e5-a8a6-137232abfd1e.html

  4. Last week I actually thought I would try to catch a Warriors game on TV to see more of Curry than just a highlight here or there. I had to chuckle at my predicament. I watched most of the second half of a game (a couple short breaks) and I don't think I saw him make one shot. He only was 5 -15 from 3 point land with 2 of those coming late in the 4th after I gave up and stopped watching. He still scored 33 in the game.
  5. Not sure what it says but I thought he was coming for the Spring Game. It would be interesting if we would have both him and Gebbia here for the Junior day at the same time.
  6. Am I the only one that got a chuckle that after admitting you're "buzzed" you respond to a 5 paragraph post with 8 bullet points? 1) I think some people get really hooked up on the fact that some people inherit a lot of money. In reality, the people who get this are an extremely small number of people. OK. let's just use the Dem's talking point of 1%ers. I think everyone would admit that out of that 1%, there are people who inherited that money. ALSO, there are some who actually did work their asses off and build that wealth themselves by getting an education, getting some type of experience and then creating either a career or business that created that wealth. So, in reality, the people who just woke up in the crib and realized someday they were going to be billionaires are extremely small. Probably somewhere in the .3% to . 6% (total guess) of the entire population of the US. Should they pay their fair share of the taxes? Definitely. But, it seems to me that so much is wasted on vitriol for these people when they are such a small part of the population. 2) Yeah...that was an offensive comment. 3) I don't know about corruption. My biggest problem is that the tax code is so complicated that the average person has absolutely no way of understanding it fully. So, what happens it's easy for politicians and talking heads can easily get people all worked up about it when it's very possible they are totally full of crap. Honestly, I feel the same about Bernie that I do about many Republicans. I like the general ideas they have. BUT....when they keep talking, they take it WAY too far.
  7. Did the top 1% really earn their wealth through their (not inherited) entrepreneurship? Show me some numbers. People are willing to go out and create, but statistics are not in their favor. Most entrepreneurs fail, that's just a fact. If we get rid of the IRS who's taking care of taxes? If we get rid of regs who's paying for my bottled water and gas mask? It's not in any companies best interest to take care of the environment with out regulations in place. Do some of these agencies need a revamp? Maybe, but eliminating them will make things worse for everyone but the corporations. I have always wondered who was going to enforce our tax laws if we get rid of the IRS. Also, if we have every state have their own environmental laws, that would be a disaster. I almost always hear something to the effect of 'switch to a flat tax' in response to what happens when the IRS is gone. Getting rid of either of them is a horrible idea and so is getting rid of the Department of Education. Flat tax would be a good idea, as long as business are still able to write off their expenses like they do today. DOE - as someone who has spent a few years in our education system, I have to tell you that the federal government should have very little to say when it comes to funding of schools and what is taught in them. Because of core curriculum standards (mandated by the DOE) we're essentially lighting hula hoops on fire and asking kids to jump through them. There's little substance to what is taught in schools because teachers are forced to go through the motions put forth by standards, and unless kids take CTE classes, there is virtually no hands-on or problem solving skills taught. Just because we would have a flat tax, doesn't mean you still don't need an organization enforcing our tax laws. And....a flat tax is a horrible idea. I have major issues with the DOE. However, whatever school you spent a few years in, must be totally different than the one my kids go to.
  8. Staying all week for Junior Day this weekend? That's the rumor, but it's unconfirmed. Good....mid to upper 60s all week and sunny. Good timing for good weather.
  9. What kid that is serious about being a WR wouldn't want to be coached by this guy?
  10. Staying all week for Junior Day this weekend?
  11. No, these are the people who appear to be winning at the moment. 11 months till signing day.
  12. If Nebraska wanted to, they could bring in the crappiest of industries and plop them down in south east Nebraska. Dump everything in the Missouri and never see it again. Air pollution??? Most winds blow to the east....don't need to worry about that either.

  14. To be fair, humans have been saying that about the younger generations since we controlled fire. And maybe before that. And if there is any truth to the sentiment it's because of the actions of the generation bitching about it. I don't totally agree with that. I also don't agree that we are losing any war on education. I fo have some frustrations like have been mentioned here. Nurses a whole, we don't have a horrible education system like some think. Uh... Darn typing on a phone.
  15. Are all Walkons at spring practice?

  17. To be fair, humans have been saying that about the younger generations since we controlled fire. And maybe before that. That lazy bum kid is so lazy he uses that new thing they call a wheel to move that fire wood. We carried it piece by piece on our heads up hill in snow both ways.
  18. It's worse than that BRB. Recently, Michael Hayden came out and said that if Trump gave the order to our military to kill wives and children of terrorists, has called for, the military is would disobey the order. Hayden is no schlub-- he served 41 years in the Air Force and retired a four star general, 6 years as the NSA director, and 3 years as the CIA director. All armed forces members take an oath to protect the Constitution, not to the commander in chief. They're not required to follow an unlawful order, per the Geneva Conventions. Targeting civilians is a war crime, and Trump doesn't seem to understand that. They asked him about it and said, "If this were the case, how would you get military members to do what you want them to do?" "Because I'll tell them to. They will do what I tell them to do." He's awful. And....Trump flips his position. Oh my f'ing God!!!!!!
  19. Oh...I completely agree that things feel right now and I'm pumped about next year. Just not sure how someone knows if the previous staff did anything like this. This staff has opened up the world to the fans and it's awesome. But, just because the previous staff was more closed to the public doesn't mean nothing like this happened before.
  20. Gotta disagree that its a splash hire. Last week nobody here would know the name Billy Devaney. Of course, a bunch of people will now claim "you have to be kidding me, I have know about this guy for years". We all know that isn't true. Poll a sample of the average college football. Let me know how many people know who Billy Devaney is. Because NFL front office types are typically household names. My thoughts exactly. What the hell are people looking for here? What is a splash hire for this job? Tom Osborne? Bill Parcels? Maybe Jim Tressel? Scott Frost or bust!!!!!!
  21. ok. I see a lot of tweets from the calabasas kids about Ptoway training. So, I decided to google it and see the contact predi. Is Darick Holmes Sr. So, is this Darnay Holmes' dad?
  22. I find this quiz statistic slightly misleading without the full context of the test and exactly what was being asked. I understand the general idea of what he was being questioned about, but without knowing the format, the time he's given to answer each question, and other variables, I don't really know how to take this result without immediately jumping to the conclusion of 'man, that's not good.' Maybe that's the proper conclusion, though. 6/10 obviously isn't great. Exactly.... Without knowing what was being tested, it's pretty worthless to get worked up about. The obvious example would be...Is this over stuff they worked on all year last year? OR, is it over new stuff they are installing this year? If it's new stuff, I'm not surprised or alarmed that on the first week of Spring camp he scored a 6 out of 10. In fact, it may be pretty good. Probably different now, but? I suspect it is a situation test where he was given specifics and he needed to describe what he sees, who or what he is basing his reads on and options in the proper progression? Who knows what they use now days, could be "Play Station or X-box simulation" or; It could be like others are thinking, knowing the calls from the sidelines? Not trying to read too much into it, just the fact that 60% is normally a number that conjures up less than favorable results. On basically the first day of Spring camp. The bolded word above is very important in your post. Nobody knows what the test was. So...no real way of judging the results. What if it's something totally new and it's pretty dang impressive that he has picked it up enough in a short time to get a 60%?
  23. How do you know how much this is different than the last staff?
  24. A quick Google search just brings up his run ins with the law and domestic abuse. Yeah.....I thought about that after I typed that. My main question was how much can ex players be around recruits if they live in the same area? Take Christian out of the equation if need be. I don't see a problem with it guys. Example would be Keyshawn Sr. But, Keyshawn is not a graduate of Nebraska and he is taking his own son through the recruiting process. So....if let's say there is a really good recruit in the Miami area, if Suh would just happen to show up to his game in Husker gear and possibly meet the kid.....hmmmm.....
