  1. I'm in the middle of Wyoming go in land out odd service typing on my phone so not going to say much. But,i took you post as meaning who ever wins shouldn't gloat and the loser shouldn't be bitter. A number of your threads today rubbed me the other way.
  2. no, the supreme court (nor any judge) should be elected by popular vote. that is a terrible idea. then there would be no checks. the supreme court is to protect the minorities' rights. Bs .....the sc is there to protect the constitution. The constitution is there to protect all American.
  3. Lol...your orgasm over the election is very apparent today. I guess you thread you started before the election doesn't mean much.
  4. Deal.... Plus...I've made up my mind that i am going to let some leadership in the republican party know how i feel about them being to stupid to win an election. I'm pissed.
  5. Problem is nothing will get done. All the stupid issues from this election will be forgotten and not fixed because each side likes to point fingers at the other side and get political hay out of it. This needs to be started right now for the next election.
  6. Carl... I know you have said you are ok with voter id but others are not. They have claimed it distinguishes voters. Total bs if they would simply help make it work.
  7. Every ranking in the history of college football is a paper ranking. Ours is no less legitimate than any other. One could argue that the #1 team after winning the National Championship has a bit more than a paper ranking. You mean the one that they shouldn't have been in to begin with?
  8. Wonder where he will actually end up. Will his parents move before he actually signs?
  9. Finally some common sense. Now, one option they could have looked into is actually running it at a different location and then donating a large portion of the money made to the relief effort.
  10. Works for me. How does getting an ID work for the elderly, shut ins, people who actually don't have birth certificates? http://www.wvec.com/...-142317585.html Those would have to be covered in the "so simple and free that literally nobody can complain about it." It must be very easy to obtain. It must be free. And it must not be in the few months leading up to major elections. Again, something can be worked out if the people in power want it to be worked out. The fact is though, this is such a political issue that both sides really don't want it resolved. The Republicans don't want it resolved so that the can point to Dems and claim they commit fraud. Democrats don't want it resolved so they can point to Republicans and claim they want to supress the vote of poor minorities. I have a question though on your question. How do these people vote? If they can get out of their house once every 2-4 years to vote, then they can get out (with plenty of heads up) to get an ID. If they vote absentee, then I am fine with the government paying a certified person to go to their home and registering them. As long as they are a certified person and not some hack working actually for one side or the other.
  11. As I do every election. They are my President and the President of the country I love and am proud of. I might not agree with them or the choice, but they are still my President.
  12. Doesn't the route go through the tip of Staton Island, over to NJ and back to the south end of Manhattan and back to central park? I thought I saw views of that area of Staton Island hit hard. I'm sorry but they shut down streets for this and they obviously had to spend a large amount of time and effort cleaning debris from the streets that are going to be ran on. If I were on a street where I still didn't have electricity because trucks can't get down to work on it because of sand, trees and other storm debris and that didn't get cleaned up so that these people can run the marathon, I would be pissed. I do a lot of running also. No marathons but 5ks and 10ks. I find this really odd. On top of that, I saw a report where huge generators were brought into central park for the management and media for the marathon. Meanwhile, there are people in homes freazing because they have no electricity. You think those could be used?
  13. I cannot believe they are running this on Sunday. Everything that can be done to help people out with another storm coming and they put their efforts together so they can run a marathon through all the rubble.
  14. Hmmm....too big to fail. I love it. When entire industries of small contractors or business owners go under, it adds up to be very similar to GM.
  15. This is a huge misconception. Bill Callahan had 4 recruiting classed while he was coach here and in those classes he signed 15 Nebraska kids (not counting Walk-ons) for an average of 3.75 kids per class. Bo Pelini has had 5 full classes while at Nebraska and he has signed 17 Nebraska kids (not counting Walk-ons) for and average of 3.4. As of right now this year there is only one verbal from an in-state kid and the only one from last year had the last name Cotton. Maybe Pelini is bringing in more in-state Walk-On’s but he definitely is not signing more scholarship athletes on signing day then the previous staff was. In state scholarship talent is cyclical. When Nebraska is really good, they have a lot of in state talent. Look at the teams from 93-99 lots of instate talent. The 97 team started a Nebraska backfield. How many did either one recruit from western Nebraska? I usually shy away from comparing current coaches with TO but in this situation I think it holds water. TO was willing to come out into rural Nebraska and other states to find good talent with potential. coaches now days never hardly go past GI.
  16. What Nebraska fan base needs to do in this game is realize we are going up against what potentially is a really good defense. So, if we have a few 3 and outs that is expected. If we have a drive here and there that stalls, that is expected. I still think we score more points than them because I believe their offense is horrible. Ours will eventually score points. I believe we win 33 - 10.
  17. I have always said that there isn't a genetic boundary on the Mason Dixon Line that prevents good players from growing up in the north. But... a) They haven't been developed in HS. b) Recruiting services discount players from the north and boost players in places like Florida and Texas. c) Some coaches have become convinced that there isn't any talent here. Calliclown was bad about this. The difference is that places like Florida and Texas can take a kid who has been developed in HS and play him right away. A kid from western Nebraska may need to be in the program for a couple years to get to the point in development that the kid from Allen Texas is at coming out of HS. This is why our walkon program is so important.
  18. But...but...but...I thought their head coach was an offensive line genius.
  19. Some day some poor husband is going to get that look and his day isn't going to be happy.
  20. Recruiting sources provide entertainment. That is it. As long as people subscribe to their services and get all worked up about recruits that may or may not come to their school, they will keep raking in the money. In the grand scheme of things, they have very mixed success in picking who is going to be good or not. I guess probably in a macro sense, they do a decent job. In general, I'm sure their 4-5 star guys do better than their 2-3 star guys. The problem comes down to when you try to paint a certain player into a corner based on these rankings. There is a very very long list of 5 star guys who couldn't do a thing in college and a very very long list of 3 star guys who turned out to be very good. There is absolutely no way these services can analyze ever single player in the US fairly. A kid like Jared Crick in the middle of Texas or Florida is probably going to be at least a 4 star kid. In the middle of Nebraska that same kid is only a 3 star because the perception is that he hasn't played against anyone good. Then, if a particular player all of a sudden gets offers from Texas, USC and Alabama...guess what happens to his rankings. The kid hasn't changed but the perception has. Bottom line is it's for entertainment purposes only. Decisions should not be made on coaches jobs..etc. based on recruiting service rankings.
  21. Come on you're better than that. What? I am a suppression convert, if people need ID's to work, how can they afford the ID's to get jobs. We are forcing the poor to stay poor. Your sarcastic argument is flawed, the government provides social security cards to citizens. Pretty sure most people have said they don't have a problem with voter ID as long as it is cheap and didn't suddenly pop up during an election year. That's the problem. Most people may have said that but the people in charge never make it happen. They use it as a political hot potato instead of actually using voter ID to make our elections better. Put voter ID in place and make it so simple and free that literally nobody can complain about it. That is the common sense solution. Problem is, nobody in politics uses common sense.
