  1. I disagree on your analysis of Compton. I have seen many games where he gets the penetration and gets the tackle at the line or tfl all season. All of those is because of exceptional D-line play at the line of scrimmage. I know he is no manti, but give me a break. When the dline breaks down, and the Middle LB's job is to direct traffic, the safety and OLB jobs are equally important. During the wisconsin game, Will failed to direct the traffic inside, which is where you want it to go, but the plays were designed to go outside depending on how they read the ILB position. Our safety and OLB's were just not getting the tackles all day long.
  2. C'mon skers, we lost, get over it. I predict a Husker win over the bulldogs! Right here right now!
  3. This team has leadership, especially with the "win out" gauntlet dropped by Bo after the Ohio State loss. I wanted the championship win just as much as the next fan. I am very pleased with the 10 win season. Its alot better than what all mighty MICHIGAN can say right now. I am going out on a lonely limb right now. I predict a W in the Capitol One Bowl. Sorry dawgs!
  4. I predicted Compton would have a break out year. I know its not on the same class as lavonte, but, he has had a very respectable career. I think he is somewhere around 16th place in all time husker tackles. Not too bad considering he missed most of 2010 with a broken foot. Started in 8 games in 2009, but didn't play as much with P.Dillard stepping back up later in the season. Most of his 230 tackles came in 2011 and 2012. Not bad, not bad.
  5. Sometimes I wonder if people see the same game I saw. Compton read correctly, and was covering Colter, and Stafford should have moved towards the gap. It was a well designed run, but Stafford should have moved on the hole quicker. All in all, i think they performed very well!
  6. I agree, Compton has showed leadership qualities. He is having a great start to this season. I know we all expect every D player to play a perfect game every snap, but that just doesn't happen anywhere. The long pass to the 15 on the opening drive by Wisconsin, and the fumble by Burkhead, creating the short field, and the roughing the kicker penalty, giving Wisconsin 20 points. Its amazing 3 plays defined the quick start for Wisconsin. I know perfection is expected, but what if you take away just one of those plays, and the first half doesnt look as bad. 3 plays defined the first half. The second half, the defense had to try to defend a very short field after the martinez fumble on the 13. 4 plays defined Wisconsin's game. The Blackshirts were able to make those adjustments during the second half, to prevent the Wisconsin receivers from catching those long passes. They also allowed only 56 yards rushing for the whole game. If the Huskers can control Ohio, and we don't cough up the ball on offense, I believe we have a very winnable game. Looking back at those mistakes commited during the Wisconsin game, they are fixable. Our corners are right there with the receivers, they just have to have a better sense of where the ball is, and make a play on the ball, and not cause a pass interference penalty. I look forward to the Ohio game, I expect the Huskers will address those mistakes during practice this week. GO BIG RED!!!
  7. I will make a prediction, Compton will have a breakout year. Worthy of the blackshirt tradition.
  8. I was at the game and remember a 4th quarter bones throw by Compton, after which all the Husker fans kind of looked at each other with a curious look on their faces. I know this is a thread about Compton's bones, but how come nobody is talking about Maher in any of these discussions? He's 3/6 on the year and has two sub-20 yard punts. If he made that field goal to put us up 30-27 we might have pulled that out. With our defense as bad as it is, we need every point/yard we can get from our special teams. I hear he got married in the offseason and might have lost his mojo. i apologizefor being a stickler. I watched the replay several times, and the only thing i saw in the 4th quarter was a well deserved "non bones" celebration after pushing ucla out of field goal range, giving us another chance for offence. prior to the interception
  9. I don't think some of you people watched the same game. I believe Will threw the bones and pounded his chest when the score was 0-0 and 7-7. Um i'm pretty sure that means you are worthy of throwing bones at that point. I don't believe it was done in second half
