  1. no, not even close. As long as Brady Hoke is leading your program I don't think too many people will respect you. He is one of most unintelligent, unpolished speakers I've ever heard as a head coach. Starts off his answer to every question with "Welllll". Not saying it's absolutely imperative to have a good speaker to be a good head coach, but Brady hoke is well below par for the course.
  2. ^I'd bet the farm that the above quote is Michigan State DC Narduzzi
  3. I understand many of the huskerboard folks probably interact with many Iowa fans, so that might be why they don't like them, but they feel too 'little brother'-like for me to hate them. Iowa fans just amuse me because they have absolutely nothing to talk trash to Nebraska about.
  4. Question is straightforward. I'll start with mine: Michigan I despise everything about Michigan except for Denard Robinson (hard to root against him, he's humble with a million dollar smile). Perhaps it's the saying "We dislike most those who remind us of ourselves". And as much as I hate to say it, Michigan is a mirror image of us. College football blue-blood, top 5 overall in victories, heismans and NC's etc., the Rich Rodriguez and Bill Callahan situations are eerily similar (offensive wizards who were brought down by subpar Defenses), similar block M to our Block N logo (just a blue version) to name a few. But it goes deeper than that (1997 comes to mind). Their fans are arrogant. In my interactions with Michigan fans online and in-person I get the sense that they thumb their nose at our tradition and contributions to college football. It seems like every Michigan fan I spoke to in 2010 had no real excitement or concern about us joining in the big ten, basically revealing their thoughts that we would be a push-over in conference play. Virtually every Michigan fan thinks that they would (not could) have beat us in 2012 if Robinson/Gardner played qb against us, and that they would have scored a touchdown on that drive that Robinson got hurt. I really thought that OSU and Michigan would be Texas and OU respectively before we joined. However, I find it is the complete opposite. Every single OSU fan I talked to in 2010 was genuinely excited to have us in the conference, acknowledging room for multiple powerhouse programs. One of my buddies, who is a Michigan fan, after the Michigan 2011 game (after which they truly felt they were 'back') posted a facebook status: "I remember when a man named Bo Pelini said he had no interest in the Michigan job. No one in Michigan wanted you anyways and today we showed you why" and it really set me off. I feel like we will meet OSU in the CCG on a semi-consistent basis for years to come and that those games will be hard fought to contribute to a respectful rivalry a la OU towards the end (I realize NU and OU hated each others guts in the 60s-90s). But I think the right to represent the legends in the CCG will almost always be decided by NU and Michigan, and consistently having these stakes for our games will make our feelings towards the Maize and Blue get downright nasty like Texas. Refute some of my points if you feel differently
  5. Yes, you're completely correct. Our speculation and discussion about the Rose Bowl has a direct impact on the preparedness and mindset of the team. ^this
  6. I think Braxton is softer than Martinez, but the kid gets the Job done. Braxton likes to dance around defenders. I've seen plenty of osu snaps this year and I can't recall a single moment where he lowered his shoulder. I only just started seeing Taylor lower his shoulder this year. Give Braxton his due. I think he is deserves the nod over TM in part because of the wins. It doesn't diminish anything Taylor did and even though I think Miller deserves the 1st team slot, I'd rather have Taylor as our QB. Braxton would be solid though in our offense, and by all accounts I've read, Miller is a humble, nice kid.
  7. Baker has been confirmed out. Really bummed for him, went to high school with him and got smacked around going up against him on the scout team for a year. A real first-class stand-up guy. ^ I love watching us play in domes. No crap like today's weather conditions and you get best on best in a neutralized environment
  8. I think as husker fans we can appreciate his play at NU. I however am not a big fan of him at Detroit. I don't think money changed him. I think because everyone crowned him as a ferocious player he felt the need to live up to that in the NFL. Not a fan of him at all anymore. I live up in NY where pro football reigns and all my NY buddies are surprised when I say vanden Bosch is my favorite player in the NFL, considering he plays on the same d-line and team as Suh. KVB embodies Nebraska way more than Suh any day of the week
  9. Haha I put my money on the Ohio State-Michigan game, I rarely put money on the skers. But if all we need is a win against Iowa or a Michigan loss and the odds of either of those happening is 95%? I'll put money on that all day. Basically what I'm saying is I will bet the farm that we go to Indy, but I feel WAY less confident and very nervous about our chances of getting to Pasadena/beating Wisconsin In Indianapolis
  10. First of all, I am no way banking on us beating Iowa. I am, however, completely banking on Ohio state murdering Meatchicken (hate them more than any other team in this conference) this weekend, Thus why I think we are locks for the CCG. I believe Hail Varsity said the joint probability of either a Nebraska win or Meatchicken loss is 95%. That's overwhelming odds of us going to the CCG. @knapplc i have seen every analyst on ESPN, Yahoo/Rivals, CBS, SI predicting Nebraska to the Rose Bowl in their bowl projections. I have yet to see a Wisconsin or Michigan prediction to the Rose bowl online. So as far as I'm concerned everyone (except overly paranoid/cautious husker fans) are slotting us in the Rose Bowl (implying that we will beat Wisconsin in the CCG).
  11. I feel kinda iffy about everyone automatically pegging us to go the Rose Bowl. Wisco is not going to lay down, and the first half of the game in Lincoln they were sticking it to us. The key was line play, as our D-line schooled their O-line (whole game) and our O-line wore their D-line & backers out (2nd half only). Has anyone noticed whether their line play has improved over the season? If so, it's not going to be the gimme that everyone thinks it is. And there's always the whole difficulty of beating someone twice in one year (Washington in 2010 comes to mind). If we do beat Wisco, then we have to sit through the whole possibility of a rematch against UCLA in the Rose Bowl...yikes.
  12. Does anyone have a link to the video of this? Heard about it but I never wake up in time to catch gameday (except for camping overnight to get into Gameday when they were in Lincoln for the USC game)
  13. Wait...so you're saying he was unable to develop a quarterback, even though the only quarterback he had years to develop was Joe Ganz who rewrote the record books? So you're saying his offenses never evolved even though we went from pure west coats to west coast with spread elements to a zone read spread attack? so you're saying that Watson was awful because he couldn't get the numbers, then you're saying that forget the numbers (since they seem to be able to favor Watson), you want results. Which is it? Here's those 20 or 17 point games you were talking about: Western Michigan - 47 San Jose State - 35 New Mexico State - 38 Virginia Tech - 30 Missouri - 17 Texas Tech - 31 Iowa State - 35 Baylor - 32 Oklahoma - 28 Kansas - 45 Kansas State - 56 Colorado - 40 Clemson - 26 Florida Atlantic - 49 Arkansas State - 38 Louisiana-Lafayette - 56 Missouri - 27 Baylor - 20 Kansas - 31 Kansas State - 17 Colorado - 28 Arizona - 33 Western Kentucky - 49 Idaho - 38 Washington - 56 SDSU - 17 Kansas State - 48 Oklahoma State - 51 Missouri - 31 Iowa State - 31 Kansas - 20 Colorado - 45 Oklahoma - 20 For the record, I'm no Shawn Watson apologist (since people will think so). I love Beck and think he's doing a much better job; I just think your arguments are lousy, and Watson wasn't the JV third-stringer you make him out to be. ^^This is spot on. I'm no Watson apologist either. I am satisfied with Beck right now, but don't underestimate the fact that Beck has way more weapons than Watson ever did. Yeah Watson probably should have left after 2010 but I couldn't believe the vitriol being thrown Watson's way after that season. The guy was a class A gentleman and I loved hearing his interviews. Just one of those good guys you root for to do good (like Doc Sadler) but just ultimately didn't produce enough results. He's no slouch as an OC by any means. Him and Bridgewater are doing well at Louisville.
  14. I also thought the Mark Richt growing up in Omaha as a husker fan was pretty cool and you don't hear much mention of it in the media ever
  15. I'm not a troll. I'm a diehard husker fan. My username is meant as a joke. Of course I don't think he should be freed, he committed a pretty stupid and serious crime. He's just been my favorite RB I've ever seen on the field on any level of the game. I should also clarify on my first point, it should be the first team in modern college football history to win 3 championships in 4 years (I think someone pointed that out). It's cited in a lot articles this year about Alabama's run.
  16. I'm not a Notre dame fan. I hate them, I guess my post didn't clarify that I didn't want them to win the NC
  17. 3 Reasons why I think Husker Nation should be rooting for Georgia to win the National Championship: 1.They will deny Alabama a chance to win back-to-back championships, a feat that only Nebraska has accomplished in college football history. 2. Georgia is a respectable team led by a respectable head coach (Mark Richt), who happens to hail from Omaha and grew up a husker fan. 3. And maybe most importantly, as much as SEC dominance is annoying, the whole country loses when Notre Dame wins a national title.
