  1. I have a pretty strong opinion that Shawn Watson didn't deserve to be fired. I think Tim Beck is better, but Watson didn't deserve so much of the blame for something greatly influenced by circumstances out of his control.
  2. You're absolutely correct. I'm not stumping for BC, I'm 100% a Bo supporter. I'm just saying I'm not casting as much share of the blame on BC for that rotten time period as most do. And I remember that dejected vibe, it broke my heart, but remember we're not free from guilt in playing a part in that. After Brook Berringer's death and Turner Gill's press conference announcing his departure in 04, one of the saddest dialogues from a Husker I've ever heard was the always light-hearted, fun Corey McKewon's press conference after that game. Dude sounded the most dejected when he was pleading with the fans not to boo them. There is zero excuse for booing players here no matter how terrible they're playing. He explicitly mentioned how that affected the team. Things were clearly falling apart, but when it seemed to them like a lot of husker nation had given up or turned on them, that sunk it for them.
  3. If it's true that JP largely runs the defense and calls the plays then I am absolutely opposed to him being the DC. He is not qualified for the position. However, if it's true as many people say, that Bo is the main shot caller for the D, then it's more of an annoyance for me than discomfort that he holds the DC position. I'm of the latter persuasion. I know the 2012 D was just as, if not more, abysmal than 2007. However it's common knowledge why that happened, and is an outlier. The Recruiting misses of 2010, transition to the Bjg 10 changing the defense he was building for the Big 12, and his patchwork recruiting class in 2008 (will Compton and Whaley covering RB's on pass routes still gives me nightmares) lead to believe that 2012 was an outlier. Bo's track record with defense, inclusive of his coaching stops at other schools leads me to give him the benefit of the doubt. When there's little variability in circumstances out of his control, he does quite well. We're starting to see that with the past couple recruiting classes & the D's surge the latter half of the season. Cosgrove didn't build the equity that Pelini did with me
  4. I don't think McKewon has written off 2011, he said that there is opportunity the next two years for 2011 class to make some hay. CJax, price, sterup, reeves, and allen can go a long way towards that. Just as it stands now, the injury/transfer bug from that class doesn't make it look too stellar.
  5. ^that gif will never get old. somewhere Dwyane Wade is smiling
  6. I wasn't a response to you. gotcha, I apologize. Thanks for clarifying.
  7. It'd be interesting to weigh him now and then on the day he gets out. If they only give him 3 meals a day and they are the same meal everyone else gets then I bet he loses 15+ pounds. Time for him to channel his inner Floyd Mayweather. He did it once before, which was what landed him there in the first place. http://deadspin.com/floyd-mayweathers-jail-diet-included-lots-of-chili-chee-1569944129
  8. I think there's merits to both arguments. It wouldn't be outrageous to reduce his sentence since it, I believe, was his first brush with the law and by all accounts, he's been walking a straight line since. But on the flipside, from what the papers reported on the details of the incident, he beat that kid up severely. Not your run-of-the-mill bar scuffle by any stretch.
  9. explain that one. The playcalling on the game-winning drive against A&M in 06 was a masterpiece, amongst others. Zac Taylor and Joe Ganz to purify/swift/peterson ran that offense as an efficient machine. Offense was rarely the issue in any of the BC era games (USC in 06 being a notable exception) Short answer: His offense put up points on crap teams, and struggled against good teams. They normally couldn't run the ball on good teams either. I can go into much more detail, but his "best" offense was in 2007 when we put up tons of garbage points when getting blown out. So you don't like coaches who have teams that struggle against good teams, and pad their stats on bad teams? Weird. Uh, I'm not trolling. I stand by my previous statement, offense was hardly the issue during the BC era. If he had a DC worth a lick he wouldve lasted here a lot longer.

  11. last week Taylor's dad apparently wouldn't offer anything more than that there have been positive developments as of late regarding his pro prospects and teams interested
  12. one aspect of that class which sticks out, and speaks to the caliber of the 2012 and 2013 classes, is that David Santos is likely to be a second string LB. Once they moved him from the mike to the will spot, kid looked like a natural. That quality of a player being a backup is the kind of depth we need across the board.
  13. Taylor's going to get a shot somewhere at a camp, either at WR or DB. Whether he sticks on the 53 man roster, I don't know.
  14. I think I'm one of the most forgiving fans of BC in all of Husker nation. Let's be real, Cosgrove was his downfall. If he had a competent DC he would have achieved a great amount of success at NU. I reserve nearly all my vitriol from that era for Steve Pedersen. BC wanted to win, but just couldn't get it done. It was Steve Pedersen's fault for bringing in a coach just so he could leave his own stamp on the program. What was BC supposed to do, refuse the job when SP offered? Pedey was correct in firing Solich, in my opinion. his mistake was not hiring Bo in 03
  15. Li could watch hockey all day long, b Eric crouch wad mice with tr ball in his half ls
  16. You're not the only one I see doing it, but I'm just curious as to why a lot of the articles I read, and as you mentioned, is it said that king and wills will factor in at DE. I can't remember the last time a true freshman DL came in and got any playing time. Can't remember it ever happening in BP's time. Whenever we get an incoming DL recruit I automatically chalk them up to a redshirt year
  17. This will be like when good ole JR stepped away from RAW. It was never the same. It died. Wasn't a huge wrestling fan growing up but a lot of my friends were so I'd watch it with them. Ol' Jimmy's voice is one of those unique ones that sticks in your brain forever
  18. I sure hope you weren't saying that sarcastically because that is a prime example of why he makes the show fun. Just another story in the legend of lee Corso
  19. yeah I just went to the dude's facebook and saw his girlfriend. The guy's winning at life
  20. my brother and I were discussing this yesterday and we both felt pretty confident that Daimion Stafford was one of the two players PJ was referring to as playing above the team/giving up. We weren't so sure who the other guy might have been
  21. first time I'm hearing anyone say they dislike Corso. The man's an icon and good for the game. Gonna be a sad day when he's no longer on the set.
