  1. Good reality check. Osborne's record was 9-3 on average for the first 6 years (though 10-2 in 1975). One difference of course is the bowl wins early on.
  2. ^^^^^^^^^^^ The curse of HuskerBoard. There is no curse. It was simply due to a poor hire and crappy coaching and crappy recruiting. Then a second hire that was terrible and we all know the results. We are now back to winning at minimum of 9 games a season and that should continue to get better. We have to have stability in the program before we have a shot at getting back to the top. You need stability in your coaching staff to develop relationships in recruiting that go three classes ahead with the way things work in recruiting these days. I agree with you, Inwi. This thread is misleading as Solich's leaving wasn't the curse. The Solich and Callahan eras were a big step back for Nebraska. Bo has been course correcting, and it has been paying dividends, though not there yet. However, with the influx of new talent through the strong recruiting efforts, we should see better performance as these recruits learn the system.
  3. Is one of those visits to Lincoln? This is a great 500 mile radius prospect for a position we are thin on. He's been here once before for a game, but that's it. The Wisconsin homecoming game was the last time he made a visit? Sounds like Urbandale needs to be added to the recruitment trail to remind Lazard exit 409 will take him to Lincoln. This kid is a solid prospect and has been under-recruited because of the early commit. Exit 409?? That is about the 5th most efficient way to get to Lincoln!! Exit 401 all the way! Assuming exit 401 is the most efficient, name #2-4.
  4. Wish there were a few more O- and D-linemen planning visits.
  5. In 2004, the Curse of the Bambino was broken when Manny Ramírez his a foul ball that went into the stands hitting a kid who happened to live in Babe Ruth's old house and knocking out two of his teeth. And the Red Sox won that year. So, obviously we need to get whichever kid is living in Solich's old house and have Martinez throw errand footballs out of bounds until one hits the kid in the face. Curse broken! Alternatively, they could also just strength the run defense and improve ball security.
  6. Henry named his top four: Pittsburgh, Penn State, West Virginia, and Ohio State (no order). Dravon Henry ‏@Dravon_6 Top 4 pic.twitter.com/8WUSy2Keqe He previously visited Pittsburgh, Penn State, and West Virginia unofficially this winter, and was in Columbus for the Ohio State-Michigan game last November.
  7. The pick is in. MLB 51 is the winner. NOT SO FAST. WINNING!
  8. Who? A team that has been to more BCS games than Nebraska in the last 10 years.... You're joking, right?!
  9. My vote would be for a North/South division. With this, you are moving Wisconsin out of the old Leaders division into the new "North" and plugging Maryland and Rutgers into the "South". Or if you want the balance of strong teams a little more equal, keep the original Leaders and Legends, with the exception of moving Indiana or Purdue into the Legends division and putting Maryland and Rutgers into the Leaders. North Iowa Minnesota Michigan State Michigan Nebraska Northwestern Wisconsin South Illinois Indiana Ohio State Penn State Purdue Rutgers Maryland

  12. USC, Kentucky and West Virginia are showing the most interest, according to Snodgrass. He really liked his UK visit, particularly the academics, coaches, and players.
  13. Has already visited Virginia, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Wake Forest and Ohio State. Virginia and UNC visits standout (though no clear leaders). He will be making a top ten this summer.
  14. Steve Wiltfong ‏@SWiltfong247 #BostonCollege early leader for Delaware QB Darius Wade, who talks recent offers from #BC #Cuse & #Nebraska. http://bostoncollege.247sports.com/Article/Boston-College-Establishes-Early-Lead-For-QB-Darius-Wade-121966 …
  15. Man, not even in the top 12 of 18? We just got grouped with Memphis and Southern Miss as offers he could careless about.
  16. 64 may be a little over zealous, but a 4-team playoff does not seem satisfying. Alternative options could be: 1.) an 8-team playoff with the top two highest ranked conference champions from four regions (West, East, South, and Midwest). 2.) a 16-team playoff with a wild card round beforehand (like in the NFL).The automatic bye teams into the top 16 would be the eight teams I mentioned about. Four of the remaining 16 could come out of each of the four regions and be the highest ranked four teams from that region (excluding the 8 with automatic byes). This gets 24 teams into the playoffs (wild card round included) I favor this option out of everything I have heard thus far.
  17. In the future playoffs, injuries will be considered. The selection committee will receive a "jury charge" from the commissioners. In ranking the teams, the committee will consider strength of schedule, where the games were played, conference championships and whether teams lost games because of injuries to key players.
  18. UL-Monroe played in the Independence Bowl (and promptly got rolled by Frank Solich and company). But, that is my point. The games are going to get played anyway. This would make the non-conference games and those lesser bowl games mean just a little more.
  19. It's basically giving more relevance to the non-conference games, which get played anyway.
  20. Here's a mock bracket from this past season from the article. If we could get past Texas A&M, think we would have been in the Football Final Four playing either Ohio St or Georgia to get into the championship game.
  21. So, jumping over the promised four-team college football playoff format that goes into effect after the 2014 season, I read this article here and said, "YES"!!! Drop the 4 non-conference games and add one extra week, this will allow for a regular 8 conference game season, plus the conference championship game, the bowl game, and a 64-team playoff. Or make the bowl games the start of the playoffs, and this would leave the extra week off of the schedule. There are 35 bowl games right now, so 70 teams already get to play. Thus, drop 3 bowls, or make them non-playoff bowls, and you have your 64-team playoff.
