  1. I think that's what signing day already is. That's your "mean all" committment, and your flexibility is leading up to that date. What you said ↑ This is why I believe the signing period (Hard commitment) needs to be allowed at anytime during the players High school Sr. year, up through signing day. If they don't sign, they are fair game. It then puts the responsibility on the player to only commit to that which he has fully considered rather than committing to just hold a spot while they shop a for something better. I am not saying the player should get the best deal they can but this will eliminate a lot of bull stuff that people are complaining about. As far as coaches putting pressure on a commit to sign while on a visit, I think that the comment above of a 24 hour cooling period is not a bad idea either.
  2. Not sure the NCAA wants to put too much pressure on the student athlete where they have to do anything (if they just verbally) saying they are going to a school. However if they just leave the option on the table that there is open signing throughout their Sr. High School year (X date through LOI day) and make sure the kid understands that if they commit (sign) they are on the hook until that school says otherwise or releases. If they don't sign, then they are free game to everyone and this would take the non-serious commits out of the equation. IMO I know what you are trying to do. But, I think you would find that there would be EXTREME pressure put on kids my coaches to sign and some will end up signing and it not being in the best interest for them. I believe just before signing day, there is a dead period. This is for that reason. It gives the kid at least a little time to think before he actually signs a binding document. Like I said early, there is no easy solution to this issue. I think that the kids would understand that they can verbally commit and all that means is they have interest but if they sign, they are in. The only change I am prescribing is one that would aid the coaches and put some integrity into the recruiting system. If I was a young stud athlete, I would go on my visits and I would understand that my verbal is just a commitment of interest but if there was no other place I would rather be, I am going to sign. If there are other potential options that could come up and I am that valued of an athlete that other big schools may come knocking, darn it, I am not signing until I feel I have reviewed all my options. I would also understand that if I don't sign, the school has the options to fill their needs elsewhere or continue their recruiting process and possibly fill the position I was being considered for. At least this way, the kids will not be playing the schools up to the last minute and it would allow the NCAA to tell all schools that if the kid has not signed, you can still contact him, if he has signed and you contact him, then consequences can be administered. I am not sure where in my thought process it would be something that would cause the kid to act improperly. Life is full of risk and at 17-18; it is time to understand that your signature is your word. Want to play games? Then do it at your own peril. Don't forget, these kids are getting a pretty darn good monetary value (education) by signing on that dotted line, it's not like the poor kid gets nothing out of the deal.

  4. I didn't catch the game so no idea what was being said at the time.
  5. To be honest, I don't think the verbal commit holds any water according to all that has been happening. It’s the signing on the dotted line that matters and that is not until LOI day. This is why I said what I said a few post up. So in essence, the kid can do as he wishes up until he signs and that allows the kid to change his mind as much as he wants up until then. Correct me if I am wrong here?
  6. The classic Bo Pelini "What the f#*k am I doing here?" face, gets me every time. LOL! or he is ready to jump in a refs face for making a call he does not agree with or like he is thinking you stupid SOB, don't make me come down there!
  7. I agree this is a much better match-up for us....... Better matchup or not, you did see what they did to Michigan, right? MSU would be at the bottom of my upset list. Even if they don't have the most talent, they are too well coached and rebound too well. Edit: The only thing that might help us is if they fall asleep as it comes off a big win against MU and before four straight Top 25 teams. It is a much better matchup and we did play them well earlier this season. I know it is not practical to think we can hang with MSU and that it appears they are on fire right now. I was just thinking; (home, coming off a bad loss, getting us back to 500) 02/16 Michigan State 7 p.m.(W) 02/21 Iowa 8 p.m. (W) 02/26 @ Wisconsin 8 p.m.(L) 03/02 @Illinois TBA (L) 03/06 Minnesota 8 p.m.(W) 03/09 @ Iowa 1:15 p.m.(L)
  8. I think that boat has sailed although I think it would be great.
  9. Kevin Steele would have been great, but he is a southern guy. Doesn't really like being up here with all us yankees. I think the big questions is how much money are you willing to pay this RC. What is Steele making at Alabama? Zook would be good but what would he work for? I think there are a lot of great guys that could do a great job, but what will they work for? I think Zook would be a great chioce "if", like you said
  10. I don't think the present staff will let go of the reigns enough to bring in someone who would take so much $$$ to blow in kids ears. I think the staff probably has a good idea of their projected needs year by year (tweaked now and then due to things that come up). Not saying that getting someone who could draw in the 5 star recruits wouldn't pay off but as we have seen, Bo likes staff who see things as he does or those willing to conform to his thought process.
  11. Maybe this is just hopeful or wishful thinking but we take down MSU on the 16th at home!
  12. I can only think of one questionable thing about the new section! In the early season games (the sun will make it very hot). You will probably get more of a breeze being that high! I don't remember right now what game it was last season that the vendors ran out of water and it was like dang!
  13. There is no sure answer to this issue. Tough call either way but if an 18 year old is considered an adult, and then his verbal commitment should count as a contract. One way to stop all this non-sense is to get rid of the structured signing day (LOI day) and allow recruits to sign at anytime during their senior high school season. Once they sign the dotted line, they cannot de-commit to another school unless the school they originally signed with approves it. The present LOI day can be the final cut off day for athletes to sign. I am sure there is plenty wrong with my thoughts here so feel free to expand why this wouldn’t work? I am just speaking off the cuff here without a lot of time invested thinking about all the issues this could present.
  14. While I appreciate his desire to be a featured back at a BCS program, I really don't understand why he would want to leave now. The fact that Bo wanted him to possibly look at another position (wingback or), tells me that Bo just wanted to have his talent on the turf along with the rest of the speed players. I know he wants to stay at I back but I think his reps there (would have increased this year) to a point where he could then prove (if possible) that he should be the starter. All it would take is for him to have a few breakout games and the film would be proof enough. This young man can do what he wishes and I wish him the best whatever he elects to do. We will be fine no matter what he does!
  15. It total; it was one of his best presser's since taking over here!
  16. And how! Looked like it was about the size of 50 cent piece and red as heck with slight scabbing. Bar room brawl look to it. (His left side of forehead!)
  17. Maybe BEGIN would be a better word. LOL Just typing what Bo's saying. Knapplc; I wasn't hammering on your words but Bo's choice of words. But for the most part, Bo is coming across very well from what I am hearing. LOL at the pole comment he made, how do you run into a pole that hard and head first unless it was in the weight room and was a military press bar?
  18. Maybe BEGIN would be a better word. LOL Yes-Yes, begin rather than Start!
  19. This is true. NCAA rules committee needs to examine itself a bit here. Out of control in many fronts IMO
  20. You can't help but be excited about getting a kid like this to sign, but our track record with some of these types of kids is not great. Tyler Moore, Aaron Green, etc... It's by far the most important decision he's made in his life to this point. I really dont have a problem with him going back and forth to make sure he got it right. At least he didnt make a complete fool of himself doing it like Walker did. I can tell him right now he made the right choice. No Doubt; hope he makes his stand and become's part of Husker Folklore!
  21. I seen on the T-V that Leon Sandcastle was looking to get back into football. Maybe he is coming to "N" to start over. See link> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGhjWkc5RqM
  22. He signed his LOI before he did the hat selection. K; I am not able to watch, just listening to three different stations and getting crappy connections on smart phone. Thanks Omaha-Husker. I heard he made these comments and was trying to figure out why he made them since Maryland does not have a rich history in CFB. They will get better now in the B1G with mo money and exposure.
  23. You can't help but be excited about getting a kid like this to sign, but our track record with some of these types of kids is not great. Tyler Moore, Aaron Green, etc... This ↑, but I am happy and he has some powerful connections he speaks and listens too! (See Sean Callahans tweet in my last post)
  24. Wow! Trevell signed with Huskers after all. Radio was wrong this morning! Are we really excited about this or is his lack of decision making a concern? Just a young kid who is going with the ebb and flow I guess. He has to be the firmest recruit we have ever had in history since he has committed to us now three times. LOL https://twitter.com/intent/user?screen_name=Sean_Callahan
  25. I am wondering if Veii didn't waffle at the last moment. Why would comments of National Championships and Going to Bowl games be in his comments if commiting to Maryland was his first toughts?
