  1. I thought the national guard was still stuck guarding the capital? Maybe not anymore. That had to be boring.
  2. I was wondering about this too. Racism accusations seem to be overused to the point where actual racism is being ignored. And some racist proclamations, like yoga, apple pie, and sheet music seem very nonsensical. Maybe I am just dense. I am sure there are racists in the Dakotas, but it's not the first thing that comes to mind, especially with border controls becoming more popular among Hispanics.
  3. I am assuming this is sarcasm, but if I am wrong, I would be happy to answer your question. I am just not sure what it is. You may have to elaborate.
  4. I thought Biden announced he shut the border? Why didn’t that help? I noticed in the last election map that many of the Texas districts along the border were blue , but in one of districts, the town of McCallen Texas just elected a Republican Mayor by 17 points. He is Hispanic. The population of McCallen is 85% Hispanic. I suspect the real crisis that Democrats care about is those districts flipping.
  5. I have to think that everyone here is smart enough and observant enough to realize that it’s not just folks on the right that are driving a wedge in our society. Have you watched The View or MSNBC? Or maybe listened to comments from politicians on the left? They can be pretty condescending and insulting. Didn’t a major police union endorse Trump last fall? I bet it had been decades the last time they endorsed a Republican, let alone a candidate that has delusions of grandeur. I think you are also smart enough to know why that happened. And it wasn’t because they liked Trump. I am not entirely sure why the military and the police are more republican leaning. Second amendment views maybe? Are most of the people that enlist from the south? They like the side that gives them the larger budgets?
  6. When our school district offered school of choice where you could use 2/3s of the state $ for your child to go to private or other schools of choice, they got sued to stop the program. One side or the other would lose and appeal. Seemed like each appeal would take a year to go to trial. Eventually the school board was replaced with new members who decided to drop the program 4 years later. It was never really settled, but since the first judge halted the program, the teachers Union won by “forfeit”. Tying it up in court can be a win.
  7. I have not read the bill, but have read commentary from news media on both sides of the aisle. It’s a shame I have to do that. I also saw the Wash Post fact checker give 4 Pinocchio’s for the incorrect early claims about the law’s restrictive voting times, etc. I do not see how this lawsuit goes anywhere. I suspect an attempted delay tactic through appeal until 2022 is over. It seems like there are new laws in other states that would be easier to go after. I can’t remember the details now, but there was a provision in the Texas law that made me raise an eyebrow.
  8. It reminds me of the Tea Party, which was actually effective at flipping a super majority, even though it ended up hurting the repubs at times.
  9. Sorry I could not resist. I think many on this list are dead, or no longer living in the state. This should be an annual occurance for each state, although I will admit that gov't never does anything well, and will likley jack it up for some voters.
  10. Georgia's is going to provide free IDs, but there seemed to be lots of anger over that requirement. Maybe that was just politics.
  11. I agree that it will be more difficult for Dems to hold the Senate, in general. Thus the push to make Puerto Rico and DC states. Do you think people will still migrate toward the cities though? The crap going on in cities this past year along with the possibility of remote work have seemed to lead to folks leaving cities, at least in the short term. Not sure about a liberal population. I tend to still see a bunch of folks in the middle. It seems like that will grow, with the extreme views getting worse.
  12. I would suggest that the reason this is so easy for Republicans to filibuster is because a vast majority of voters are in favor of voters needing IDs. 80% IF you believe the polls. I understand that polls these days are suspect, and you really have to read how the questions were framed. BUT...I am hearing (can’t always trust the media either) that even Stacey Abrams is now ok with voter IDs. I thought they were Jim Crow rules a few months ago. IF Dems are starting to accept IDs, then I suspect their internal polling is showing that IDs are a must to win this debate. I think we all just want easy ways to vote that do not make it easy to cheat.
  13. Really. I did not know that. How long is that contract in place? If you joined the ACC does it affect hockey? I would guess not.
  14. Actually, they won't need to. Starting in 2024, they will always have super majorities.
  15. The Dems love the filibuster as much as the Republicans. They used it a record amount last year. There are some in the ranks that I think hate it, but most think they need to save it for later. And I do not think the Repubs will nuke it either, because they won’t always be in control. This discussion seems to come up a lot. Is Manchin onboard with killing it? If not, it’s dead. A 50/50 senate is gonna actually have to compromise. I think there is a compromise on infrastructure out there, and I thought I saw that Obama endorsed Manchin’s election reform bill.
  16. I heard the Girl Scouts need a new organization to exploit their cookie sales.
  17. They should unionize so they can make money and give a bunch back to the union.
  18. Kavanaugh just destroyed the NCAA if the right lawsuit is brought to SCOTUS.
  19. Well, They get to play Navy which takes care of a traditional rival. How about the PAC12? This takes care of the USC and Stanford games, and is probably easier than the ACC....or AAC.
  20. Correct. But Hilltop made me think of another approach. How often would ND win the ACC? Maybe they should join a lesser conference (AAC) that they can win all the time. They could have a loaded out of conference slate to help the strength of schedule. Play USC, a B1G and ACC team every year. The world is their oyster.
  21. Government never moves this quickly. What’s the catch? I think everyone was onboard with this one....queue the responses with the list of politicians who weren’t...
  22. Big Ten alums need to roll out the money canons on this and catch up with the SEC bagmen.
  23. 7-2. Pretty good for a packed conservative court. Did anyone notice the 9-0 decision in favor of the Phili foster care agency?
  24. Anyone have predictions for 2022?
