  1. Dirk Koetter? I will never understand the interest in that guy. He put ASU back several years while here, and never really lived up to his "offensive genius" billing.
  2. They were talking about Mora on the Dan Patrick show this morning, and apparently at one point he referenced the UW job as his dream job. Plus, they said that his wife was a cheerleader there. I don't think he should leave UCLA, but who knows?
  3. As an ASU fan, I am so impressed with what Todd Graham has done. He came to Tempe with some baggage for how he left Pitt (although there is more to the story) and inherited one of the least disciplined programs in the country, thanks to Dennis Erickson. In two years, the Devils are now among the most disciplined teams in terms of penalties (something that was lacking in the past) and will be playing for a Pac12 championship and potential Rose Bowl appearance. I'm not hoping for a coaching change for the Huskers; just bringing up the name of another coach that I'm impressed with.
  4. I'd gladly take Gregory for the Broncos. Him on one side and Von on the other? Yes please.
  5. Unfortunately no, ended up not being able to get tickets. Did run into the opponent's vball team in the hotel though. Those were some tall ladies! We always make a point when we are travelling to eat someplace that we don't have back home. I'm not going to eat at a Wendy's just to experience how Wendy's is in Lincoln. We ended up eating at a pizza place before the game (Toppers, I think?) and Southwest Pit BBQ on Friday night. Cool places, pretty good food. Then ate at the restaurant in the Cornhusker after the game, and pretty sure I got food poisoning. Not a lot of fun on the way home Sunday, especially on the little puddle jumper from Lincoln to Denver. Also had the opportunity to roam the campus a bit. We were very impressed; it was much different from ASU, that's for sure.
  6. Overall the weather was great. Just a statement about the wind because I had forgotten how cold those Nebraska winds can get...
  7. So, I have returned from my first Husker game, and it was an even more incredible experience than I had hoped for. Granted, it would have been better had we won, but I was so proud of the effort that the team gave, up until the very end. They played their hearts out, tried their best to overcome 5 turnovers, and I think showed a lot of what makes us proud as Husker fans. My son and I had an absolutely fantastic time. As a sophomore in high school, it was great for him to see a true college environment (ASU unfortunately doesn't have near the game day experience); he just kept saying how cool it would be to play at a school that cares so much about the team, and he couldn't believe how loud the stadium was for the entire game. A few random musings, if I may: - Memorial Stadium is an incredible place; we had the opportunity to walk around quite a bit, including being in the tunnel walk area when the players came out for warm ups (Hi 5s from Tommy Armstrong, Abdullah, and Burch!), and it was awesome - Memorial Stadium could use a facilities upgrade; I haven't peed in a trough in a long, long time - As others have mentioned, the Blue Hairs are abundant, but those by us were rowdy, loud, and made the experience even more fun - Lincoln is damn cold when the wind blows through - The Cornhusker Inn is an excellent hotel with an incredibly friendly staff Overall it was an amazing, bucket list experience. Having the opportunity to share it with my son made it even better. My 7 year old is already asking when I'm going to take him to a game, and he hasn't taken off "his Blackshirt" since I brought it home for him.
  8. Sorry, the MSU fans. They seem to think they've already got the game won. And when a Husker fan hops on to disagree, he's torn a new one.
  9. For what it's worth, I have to give SpartanMacks some props for the discussions. They have been fun to read without any douche baggery going on; thanks! I made the mistake of visiting some MSU forums the past few days, and the arrogance on there is ridiculous. According to what I've read over there, the Huskers may as well not even show up for the game.
  10. Fixed. UofA being the only Pac school to never go to the Rose Bowl, I'm fine with them forever being irrelevant. Go Devils!
  11. I'll have my 15 year old son with me. Would it be appropriate for him to be there? I'd love for him to see some genuine Husker tailgating in his first trip to Lincoln.
  12. That would be disappointing, but I would love the fact that it would be a local game for me!
  13. Never mind, I'm a tool. Somehow totally missed the seat numbers. So, my wife thought she'd further enhance our total Husker experience this weekend and get us tickets to Friday night's volleyball game after we fly in. Almost 100 bucks a ticket? I think we'll be passing on that part of the experience...
  14. That's what I thought. We just have the printout that Stub Hub provides. Sounds like we might have to give them a call...
  15. My son and I are so excited for this weekend and our first game! And I'm very happy that it will be an important one too. But, I have what is probably a stupid question. My wife bought the tickets from Stub Hub, and the are in one of the corners, section 18, row 18. But, they don't have seat numbers. Am I missing something here? Thanks for your help!
  16. Alexander Payne You are pensive and insightful. You have the ability to illuminate beauty in the minutia of everyday events just like screenwriter and director, Alexander Payne. Known for such films as Election, Sideways, About Schmidt, and The Descendents, Payne was born and raised in the same neighborhood in Omaha as Warren Buffett.
  17. I'm bringing my son to this game for our first home game. 11 would really suck...
  18. A guy like that is already coming into the game a head case. When RG gets some pressure on their QB, he's going to lose it. I can see some really stupid penalties in his future, if he plays of course.
  19. Couple of recent updates. Turns out that Patterson is still in the running, and rumor is that it comes down to him and Luck. Apparently the University President wants Luck, and the advisory board wants Patterson. People here are a bit nervous, wondering if it would be a package deal including Todd Graham. Granted, he upset some people with how he left Pitt (although there's more to the story), but the guy is a great coach. He took over one of the most undisciplined programs in the country and has ASU moving in a great direction. If ASU loses him and Patterson, it would really hurt the program. Plus, it would mean that three of the last four ADs were poached by Texass, Notre Dame and Ohio State. Also, an even more important update; turns out "Naked Chick" was just four strippers who were hired for a Halloween party, and not ASU students. Too bad.
  20. Like I said, lots of talent... Also part of the AD offer apparently was doubling his salary, and he still turned it down. Love it!
  21. Funny, I've never heard that stat, but I wouldn't doubt it. Latest rumor is that the AD at West Virginia is the highest candidate.
  22. Ouch! I will put ASU's "talent" up against any school! Some of them are even clean...
