You are aware that Osborne finished in the Top 10 in one or another poll in each of his first sixteen seasons, right? Yet even with Osborne's accomplishments, there were those who still wanted him gone.

Pelini is fine. His job security is based on the accomplishments of the program on and off the field. I'm all for dismissing a coach for losing seasons and missed bowls. Pelini is nowhere close to that category. The future with Pelini looks bright.

Nine=irrelevant, Eight=relevant. Obviously I don't know the answer to this, but I would bet Eichorst doesn't consider 9+ wins irrelevant.

Foley has said again that Muschamp will return......and Pelini has a winning record......with the possibility of 9 or 10 wins once again. But yes, Pelini and Eichorst communicate, at least according to Pelini.

As I've said before, but not in this thread, it doesn't make sense for Eichorst to stay quiet and mum about his support for Pelini (if it exists) because of the impact it can have on recruiting and fan support. It is illogical and downright idiotic. The national perception of Nebraska's program right now is that Bo Pelini's job is insecure and Shawn Eichorst is looking at other options/evaluating Pelini's job. If that wasn't the case, Eichorst would say something. Recruiting continues and Pelini has communicated about the rumor mill to the players and recruits. The medias job is to sell advertising.

No True. But my insider says he'll be back, regardless what happens next Friday. Mr. A standing by with his "I told you so" card........... Although I find myself more in the corner of Bo should go, I think that win Saturday probably means he stays. I feel like it was a very close possibility though that he was good as gone. If we lose to Iowa, I don't know. He probably stays, you're right. If he gets another year and we see these same things I don't see how people can be so forgiving. I listened to that audio tape tonight thanks to Mr. Iowa whatever his name was on another thread, and sorry I just can't forgive that. That combined with everything else for me just puts the ugliness over the top. I have a hard time respecting a guy that talks like that about our fan base. Nebraska is obviously full of very forgiving people. Good for them I guess. Pelini's future is not based on winning a particular game. Pelini runs a great program off the field, and you just won't find many cases of ADs firing successful coaches. You just won't.

I agree with you, but normally Sipple can hide some of his pro-Bo feelings a bit more, or at least make a point worth considering. Sipple and Shatel both wrote articles in consideration that Pelini is building something here. Pelini is fine.

Yeah if the man had any integrity, he'd still be a paperboy. Quitter. Leaving a job for a better job is not being a Quitter, but but Bo quit several times to benefit himself. He could be tired of the constant threat of losing his job (we have no way of knowing, but maybe there are boosters pushing for Bo to go), and decided to take a nice position in the NFL. Or maybe Florida thinks 9 wins per season looks really good right now Pelini would not mislead his players or recruits.

this is a myth. bo was hired to win championships, he knows that. he has not. the next guy hired, whenever that may be, will be hired to win championships. and the next guy will know that. i do not want a coach who is afraid of high standards and great expectations. I don't see your argument. Plain and simple, if you fire a 9-win head coach (ESPECIALLY for the 2nd time in a decade) it will be difficult to find a big name head coach who will even think about getting hired by Nebraska without laughing. Speculation. Especially if they do end up landing Tressel or Richt. Also, Callahan wasn't such a bad hire. He didn't work out -- as the vast majority of hires don't, because there are only so many Nick Sabans out there -- but he recruited his butt off. He walked into bare cupboards and left with them well-stocked for the next guy and a better coach to do good work with them. We'll find our guy eventually (and maybe that is Bo; it's possible). Most ADs are not interested getting it right eventually. It gets them let go before eventually comes. Huskershark is correct, there's a huge risk involved in firing a winning coach. That's why it doesn't happen often.

He is looking for that type of job, so if he is here next year it won't be from lack of trying. Pop is pretty much gone as is Gantz. As stated above it would really be nice to finally get rid of Barney, he has never been anything other than dead weight. I was wondering what Beck was looking for. This clears it up.

Good post and agreed about special teams. At the Big Red Breakfast on Friday, it was indicated that special teams is and will be getting a hard look. Pelini is not going to be able to please everyone with staff hires, especially those who have a history with Nebraska like Cotton or Coleman. Pelini seems to have made an excellent decision with Garrison. The production of our OL and the depth that has been developed is very good. Pelini has been far from perfect in his first five seasons, but he's made some moves with the coaching staff.....such as Garrison and Fisher.....that have gone very well.
