  1. I think the only way Bo keeps his job is by making the Big Ten championship game and winning it. Otherwise, he will be 0 for 6 when it comes to conference championships, and that can be a talking point by the AD when he lets Bo go.
  2. All those names are unrealistic... Including Petersen, Fitzgerald, and the easter bunny... I don't think Petersen is too unrealistic. Boise is struggling. Petersen would be my top pick. He managed to make BCS games at a mid-level conference which is tough to do a single time, and he did it on more than one occasion. I think because of his past success, he will get the attention of recruits, and when Nebraska adds in the history and venue, it would be a more appealing proposition for prospects.
  3. I totally agree with you, which actually supports the case to fire Bo sooner than later (possibly after the last regular season game) so the new coach can be selected. In these days most top coaches would likely choose Texas or USC over Nebraska in my opinion.
  4. Wow, a lot of interesting views in this thread. As for the debate on whether Bo is progressing or regressing as a headcoach, I would have to agree with those who argue with the regression. Bo came in and did a bang up job in turning the program around, and in my opinion, his best team was the 2009 team that should have won the Big 12 championship (the offense stunk but the defense was better than spectacular). Since 2009, it seems as though the team and coaching staff have had way to many letdown games, miscues, bad decisions, etc... I'm sure it's debatable whether 2009 was the best season under Pelini, but the point is really twofold here:1. The defense has continued to get worse since 2009. 2. The 2009 season was one in which Bo was still using mostly players that the prior coach had recruited. Now that we have teams with all of Bo's recruits and coaches, things seem worse than when he first came in. Perhaps some will argue that he simply overachieved in 2009 and set the bar too high, but Nebraska isn't like your average football program. The bar will always be set high.
  5. Right..there is always a game that breaks the camels back...meaning the fans say enough is enough. I thought that game might have been UCLA or perhaps one of the blowouts from last year, but it appears that this weekend's Gopher game may have been "it."
  6. EZ-E-I think folks on here can still support the current coaching staff and players for the rest of the season while also believing that this head coach is not the one to lead us into the future. We're fans and have the right to look to the future and weigh in on what we think is best.
  7. I agree that is stinks. Something has indeed change as the traditional Bo defenders are no longer defending him. We've had many of these types of losses before in games we should have won, so I'm not sure why this game has caused the Bo defenders to go in hiding.
  8. Any NFL coaches that might want to get back to the college level out there? I know Saban tried out the NFL and didn't like it and quickly moved back to college. Not sure if Chip Kelly or somebody else is out there that may want to get back in the college game. I know Chip is having a bad time at Philly, but that doesn't mean he would not be successful again at the collegiate level.
  9. Shouldn't this be merged with the other thread where all the coaching suggestions were placed? Two things we don't want to do with our new head coach: #1-Pick another coordinator that has no head coaching experience. #2-Pick up another head coach that underperforms. As others have stated here, Richt has underperformed at Georgia, and although the SEC is a touch conference, he should have found a way to win the conference at some point during his tenure with the talent he can get at Georgia. There are many other good options out there.
  10. It's evident how things have changed even from just a few weeks ago. During a major Nebraska loss, there were many Bo defenders all over this board...but today, it's hard to find them. Perhaps this Minnesota game is really when Bo lost the rest of the fan base.
  11. Assuming this is Bo's last year, I would prefer that we pick up a coach that's actually had head coaching experience. I don't want to waste 2 or 3 years to give on the job training to some coordinator. There's a big difference between being the top man overseeing the entire staff and team, and being a specialty coach looking at one facet of the game. Most on here are right that...it will be difficult to lure an experienced head coach from one of the 5 major conferences, so we'll likely need to look for a top coach that has done well historically in the smaller conferences, or one that is emerging. In looking through many of these posts, the Pelini defenders are getting fewer and fewer each week, which means there really are no excuses left and no reason to keep Pelini after this season.
  12. I agree with you. I honestly think Bo takes the loyalty thing to a fault. Bo knows that Taylor holds a lot of records at Nebraska now, and it was Bo's decision to start him as a freshman. Now that Taylor is a senior, hurt, and having his worst year ever (per game averages), Bo should be putting in Armstrong, but is too damn loyal to TM. I hope he realizes his loyalty is going to cost him his coaching position at Nebraska.
  13. Regardless if the coaches understood the extent of Martinez's injuries, based upon how he was performing in the game (including some of the changes Taylor called in the game), Pelini should have removed him, period. Pelini has run out of excuses, and at the end of the day, the buck stops with him.
  14. I just posted this same comment in another thread. Minnesota has essentially copied Wisconsin's offense which we've never been able to stop. I would have thought Bo would have found a way to do so by now, but maybe he's not as competent on defensive as everyone thinks he is.
  15. If you're out there somewhere and interested in making a leap to a larger conference while staying in the same region, we have the perfect place for you!
  16. Minnesota must have watched a lot of the Big Ten championship game tape as they ran the same exact sweep offense that Wisconsin did, moving guys at the line just before the snap. Our defense was so clueless, just as they were last December. Is Bo not smart enough to realize that...when Taylor is not running the ball well, he's a sub-par quarterback.
  17. What a complete disgrace. Minnesota played a good game, but as usual, our team was unprepared. While I admire Bo's loyalty, it was pretty obvious mid-way through the game that Nebraska needed a jolt on offense, as Taylor was simply off today. Bo should have put in Tommy for a few drives as Taylor was indecisive and not moving well. When you take away Taylor's running game, he's just an average quarterback at best.
  18. I think the fans will cheer for the players regardless of Bo's antics and anger management issues. They are their to support the team. If Bo wanted to do what is best for the team, he would let them come out on their own, or with some of the assistant coaches, so he is not once again the spectacle representing Nebraska football. I don't agree with somebody privately taping Bo, but at the same time, this is not the first time he's looked like a complete fool and shown a lack of discipline and maturity. And at the end of the day, it's his poor on the field performance as a head coach that should be the center of attention now.
  19. I just read this article on LJS as well, and really get annoyed with Sipple sometimes. He always tries to walk this line of making a point, but making sure he doesn't offend anyone in the process. Rather than coming out and blaming Bo for his poor coaching performance on the field, and suggesting that he should be let go for that and that alone, Sipple goes after the person who released this tape. I agree that the timing is poor, and if it was going to get released, last December after the Big 10 championship game, or after the bowl game, would have been a better time for many reasons. With that said, Bo should never have made those comments about the fans. I can understand his frustration with the media, but cursing the fans is silly. I was at that Ohio State game where this took place, and there was a very light chorus of boos at halftime, but Bo did not have his team ready to play. Moreover, it was the fans in the 3rd and 4th quarters in the middle of a downpour that hung around to support the team. Bo essentially had his Paula Dean moment, and made inappropriate comments about the wrong groups (the fans).
  20. I agree that the timing of this tape is suspect, but it still does not take away from Pelini's performance as a coach, and his inability to demonstrate progress and show he's able to move his teams in the right direction. In 2008 and 2009, Pelini had the program on the rise, and successfully turned it around from the Callahan years. But since 2010, he's had the program moving sideways, it not downhill. That is why Nebraska should consider a coaching change. If the person releasing this tape was hoping for that outcome, perhaps he or she should have chosen to do so after the humiliation in the Big Ten championship last December, and allowed the administration time to find a qualified replacement, and the team to accept their new leadership and move on.
  21. I completely disagree with Bo's comments and agree with most who want him out. With that said, for the sake of our players and fans, whoever had this tape should have found a better time to release it that was not in the middle of the football season. This story is now growing on other outlets, and as this becomes a national story, the NU Board will have no choice but to act, and my guess is they will not allow Bo to hang around for the rest of the season...so what in the heck do we do for an interim head coach. Shame on Bo for making these comments, and shame on the "leakers" for putting this out at such a bad time. Anybody know if TO would like to coach again?
  22. I think Nebraska needs to find another coach with head coaching experience that has proven he can win big games with less talent, and in a location where it's difficult to attract talent. Hello Chris Peterson (Boise St head coach).
  23. Commando-I think you missed my point. I was saying that the team is NOT making progress.
  24. Commando-Did you even read what I wrote. The point of my post was that the team and coaching staff is NOT making progress, yet progress is the one basic expectation we have as fans.
  25. I'm not sure about Scott Frost, but I would welcome Chris Peterson any day. He's is a competent leader that has proven he can win big games even when his team has less talent and is deemed the underdog.
