  1. I would feel better if we scheduled USC or Ohio St or Michigan the first game of the year so when we lost it at least made some sense and would be expected. Last two seasons we have played a cellular dweller and lost. Come on Big 10, give us Ohio St next season in Paris.!
  2. Again, the transfers we received all came from big time programs who failed last year. We didn't get players who played for the national title and contributed. Sean Callahan, and all of these hype masters who keep throwing praise at ever player we recruit or get via portal need to stop. Our 4 star players don't even look like other schools 4 star players, no matter the position. Big Red hype machine is long overdue for a change as well.
  3. NO one wants this gig that can do any better than Pelini. At least even Mr Rodgers won 9 games for us in the Big 10. We asked for this. We fired everyone now for the last 19 years, Frost is next. The program is not attractive. The Big 10 is not attractive. This conference is Ohio St and Michigan, soon to be USC added in. Our brand................what is our Brand now even really worth? At some point, this brand is going to stop showing. Throw money at coaches, your going to be disappointed in who signs up for this mess. Might be some one out there who can make this 6-7 win annually, but thats going to have to be acceptable at this point. Glory days are gone.
  4. Lack of talent is one thing, but lack of heart is another. This is why we hire a coaching staff, infuse some heart and desire in this program. We have never seen this program infused with anything other than losing for the last 19 years. 19 years of hiring coaches who tolerate losing, even if losing 3 or 4 games by 50 and winning 9, losing was ok. Now I am saying this for certain: This program will never contend for a national title ever again. We can't find a coach who wants to try and rebuild this program. Yes, no coach wants this gig that can coach and recruit. Kansas STate is a better job. OK ST is a better job.....ETC. Our history means nothing anymore because we gave that away years ago. Yes, please find me a coach who is willling to come to Lincoln and risk his name and credibility right now. You won't find a coach. Big 10 is not really appealing if your not Penn St, Michigan, Michigan ST or the Ohio ST schools. Maybe Wisky. All the rest are fighting for scraps.

  6. People, its the same stuff. Even with talent being transferred in, we still don't have enough talent on this roster. We didn't go and get lineman on either side of the ball. Ochaun might be good, but if he is the only one good, its easy to block him with two guys knowing nothing is coming after that .
  7. Who is selling these player being difference makers? Ochaun? Casey? Palmer? Castenada? I have seen nothing from these NIL dealing wizards, nothing. They got their money. Great salesmen.
  8. There is a reason why Texas was a losing team last year..............
  9. What is wrong with this coaching staff? Smothers ran a play for positive yards, and thats it? NW can't defend the QB run, you can see that!
  10. We have a coach who is afraid to win. Doesn't trust his team. That onside kick took so much momentum and wind out of our sails.
  11. QB zone read is there. We seem to have lost that all together. Even a QB scramble is there, but our QB isn't a rugged runner. This game is almost over. Were a losing franchise, with a coach is afraid to win and trust his team. The onside kick was nothing but a Head coach who doesn't know how to win. Winning is hard, but making it harder on a inexperienced team just makes things that much more difficult.
  12. First game of the season, but I am all for seeing Purdy on the next series. Why not? Lets see what we have now instead of waiting for OU game to then decide we need to see. Amart is laughing at Husker Nation now, and he should be! With him, this game today would have been a laugher.
  13. We have some really nice pieces, lets at least complete the edges on this puzzle this season! We can fill in the middle as we go!
  14. Grant is a tough runner, something we haven't had alot of over the last few years.
  15. I am not saying we can't improve as the season goes, but Northwestern doesn't have the horses up front and are pressuring us and stopping the run. Is it fair to say that this NW team is bottom of Big 10? If so, my early season prediction of 8-4 is dropping now to 6-6. Even if we win today, we can't compete against the middle to upper Big 10 teams yet. No lines on either side. Like I said to begin with, we might improve. Most teams improve the most after their first game, but after this game we don't have a legit game until OU.
  16. We basically are the same team we have been, just with some great skill players. It obvious that we addressed our skill players, but we still don't have d-line or O-line play to make this all come together.
  17. Got the stop. Now we need a score and take control of this game. I was afraid we might let them score and go up 10. NOw I think we breath a sigh of relief and take this game.
  18. This situation was a no win one for Alberts. If you fire him, you owe 18 million big ones. The sad fact is, fire Hoiberg and pay him, you still would have had to pay the next guy at least 4 million and sign a huge contract. Business decision had to be made. This was the only option for us. Basketball is not that hard to find a few players that can win 15 games a season. You may not find enough to win 25 games, but you should be able to find players to win 15-20 games per season. I have always in some ways compared us to K-State in basketball. They can almost always win on average 15-20 games a season. Bruce Weber is not a great recruiter, but they seem to find just enough pieces to scare teams when entering Bramlage. Thats all I want to see from Hoiberg and his crew. Win the non-con, beat teams at home, and compete on the road. That should net 15-18 wins per season. On ocassion win 20-23 games and get a tourney bid. Should be an every 3 to 4 year deal. Find some players and develop them for 3 years and have a tourney squad. Thats it!
  19. Nebraskaball is at its lowest point ever. Consider who has coached here, and what we have had in history, this is the worst 3 year stretch ever. Can't hide from that. All i want to see from this program is what we are capable of and have done in past years. Home court advantage. Remember on those occasions when we would get a win verses KU, OU, Okie ST at Devaney? Well likewise, I would like to see Ohio ST, MIchigan St and others being scared to walk into PBA with a ranked squad for fear of losing. This currrent roster presents no fear to any opposing team whether it be conference of non conference. Furthernore, Bryce McGowan is not a program building 5 star prospect. Couldn't get more than 5 minutes a game at a school like KU or UK. and thats being kind. May not see the court. Find a 6'11 center that needs some polishing and build around him. Someone you know that might be here 2 or 3 years. Big 10 is a different league than Big 12. I think Big 12 is way more diverse and most of those teams can play any style of game. Go and get Danny Manning to coach biggs. Just him alone will bring in some talent. He has a reputation of building biggs and sending them to the league. He would be number one on list of assistant coach hires.
  20. Is there a scenario where we keep the traditional bowls (Orange, Cotton, Sugar, Rose, Fiesta, ETC) for the playoffs and take all the other bowls and turn them into preseason-preconference invite games? Take the whole first week of the season and have games at sites like the Alamo bowl, Gator Bowl, Sun Bowl, ETC. Let those cities have a fun week of what ever and it allows for money to be spent and the weather is better. It would be no different than going to Ireland for a game in my opinion. Pick 10-20 bowl sites and have invite games. Games that garner national attention, and games like Nebraska vs OU, or Nebraska vs any old Big 8/12 rival. Nebraska would be in this conversation because we travel well and spend money. Just a thought. No different than early season hoops games/ tourney's in Hawaii and Vegas. Spread the wealth, keep the bowl sites intact, just in a different time frame. Tell me that we wouldn't travel to San Antone and watch us play Texas or TExas AM?
  21. Several factors have ruined football. TV deals for conferences which then led to conference swapping started this trend. Realignment. Face the music. Nebraska for one, has lost its way and its identity. Colorado? Missouri? How has it worked out? We threw out rivalry games and history for some money and since have been a laughing stock. Oh, I forgot what ruined college football, not Husker football. So yeah money has started this downward process. Now, I actually think this 4 team playoff has further killed the sport. It no accident that Alabama, Clemson, Ohio St, Oklahoma and Notre Dame have played in this system more than others. Clear path. We need at least a 12 team, if not 16 team playoff. More teams, more recuits going to more schools not named Georgia and Bama. SEC period. This makes USC, Miami, Notre Dame, Baylor ETC way more viable in the sport. When players from California are going to Bama, Georgia, Ohio ST, ETC its because playoff viability and NIL. The only way college football can survive is if USC, Miami, Florida ST, Notre DAme, and yes Nebraska get back to some respect. National relevance. Not just these few schools, but we need more traditional and blue blood programs back into the mix. With the way it is right now, Bama is choking out everyone else. Don't blame the SEC totally. Bama is head and shoulders above everyone, except maybe Georgia. Its not a fluke that the other SEC schools have not really competed greatly against other P-5 programs this bowl season. Its clearly a few schools on top and everyone else.
  22. I would like some education on NIL. Shorthand version. First off, where is the money? Why are we not buying these transfers we need and want? WE have all assumed that Nebraska has big money backers and can pony up dollars anytime and anywhere, lets roll it out there then. Please don't tell me this is not how it works. We all know that players like Rattler who end up at South Carolina, were bought. Cash speaks. Players listen. If we want to stand back and do things the right way, we will never catch up. Simply put, we have to match what SEC and its powers are doing and have been doing for decades.
  23. whats amazing is, you keeping Frost for one more season has hurt our recruiting because now we lack stability. If Frost was fired, we wouldn't get recruits because we don't keep coaches. The national media does not want Big Red football to ever be what it was. With all of the negative media coverage nationally, its hard to tell if we will ever become somewhat relative. This is why we need our in state talent to stay and we need to hit Iowa and Kansas hard for those hidden gems like we would get in the 80's and 90's. I know that recruiting stars don't matter with this class. We have a good roster of recruits who never saw the field this season. What hurts us right now is if Frost turns things around, 2 years from now we might not have diddly squat because we got few this go around. College football now has become Big Iron auction. Highest bidder might have best recruiting classes no matter blue blood or not.
  24. I don't know the general consensus, but I for one don't think we actually got the guys we set out to get for assistants. I see these hires as 2nd best if that. Whipple might be ok, but don't see any kind of wow factor in him. Raiola, seems like were just recruiting his nephew to be our QB someday. The only hire so far that makes sense is Joseph. So far I would grade these hires as a C-. Mickey Joseph is an A+, but the others are well below what I think most expectations would have been. When I heard that we were interviewing both Harrell and Whipple this weekend in Arizona, I realized Frost and Co struck out on others. Prove otherwise and I might listen! I think we are in for a truly disappointing 2022 season. I think we see more leave and we might not reach the level we are at right now. Trying to remain positive, but just not seeing anything that says we are going to be great next season with these hires. I think Mickey can bring in talent, but that talent better be Big 10 ready, otherwise we are in for another 3-9 or 4-8 season.
