  1. changing my prediction..... starting depth chart will be Lee -AND- Green -AND- Martinez Wildcat formatin, Martinez taking the direct snap, Lee split out wide right, Green split out wide left, Burkhead and Helu in the backfield with Martinez.
  2. My guess, is it will come out Tuesday and will read Lee -OR- Green -OR- Martinez
  3. Ok, first of all, you have to believe that all the reports about 6 Big Xii teams going to the Pac-10 was a bluff. Most who believe that believe it was directed at Nebraska. But, if it was a bluff, in my opinion it was actually an attempt to get the Big 10 to say "no" to us (or not invite us to apply). Why would Nebraska care about the dismantlement of the Big XII if we are already gone? But, the Big 10 may not want to get into an "arms race" with the Pac-10. Cudos to the Big 10 for sticking to their Guns.
  4. Can't stream at work, can someone do a play-by-play?
  5. This makes perfect sense to me, and actually is what I have been thinking. Leaving the Big 12 has much more to do with better long term stability and academics for Nebraska. As far as long term stability, Texas could sink the conference by leaving at any moment (which I think became obvious to Perlman and Osborne once the expansion talks started). That is not a good position for NU long term. As far as academics, well it has been reported in several articles that a jump to the Big 10 would help Nebraska in this arena. It is not an NU vs Texas fight. It is both universities just trying to do what is best for them long term, just like any large institution would do.
  6. I'll be at work tonight during the early draft selections (i.e. Suh). Does anyone know if there will be a stream available?
  7. Does anyone know what happened with the Husker Max website?
  8. Ok, I'm not as pissed at TU now. Defense has shown up in the second half, and the offense even with a back up has some life.
  9. At least sam was legit hurt, McCoy could go back in but wont Seems that way to me as well.
  10. I'm not piling on (if you read my thread). I want Texas to win (ok I do call them TU), and I completely understand about losing McCoy, but where in the hell is the defense???? Texas was getting run all over in the first half like a middle school team. By the way, second half is starting off a littel better.
  11. Texas playing well makes us look good and the Big 12 look good therefore I am rooting 100% for TU tonight. Disappointing that McCoy is out . TU was all over Bama to begin with. clearly TU(O and D) is freaked with McCoy out. I want TU to win as well for the conference, that is why I'm so pissed. But how does McCoy being out get your defensive line owned by Alabama? Ingram is going to have 200 yds rushing if this keeps up (he already has 90) and that other guy will have 100.
  12. I hear that. I'm not so mad about their offense because I understand about losing McCoy, but getting run all over like you are punks is an embarassment to the conference (not as much as Missouri mind you, but still bad).
  13. You don't have to go to all of that trouble. Just suffice it to say that if Cotton is not worried about technique, then I am worried about the Offensive Line as long as he is around. But I'll let the results (how the O-line plays in games) speak for themselves.
  14. I'm not trying to call you out, but is this a fact or just your thoughts? If somebody has quoted or knows Cotton is not worried about technique or footwork, then I am very worried about the future of our O-line (not just this year, but as long has he is coaching). College is the only place these kids really develop technique and footwork. In high school, most of these kids were so more physically gifted than the people they were playing against that they didn't need to really care about technique or footwork. In the pro's, well in the pro's if you haven't already learned technique and footwork you probably won't be one. Color me shocked if this is fact. (ok not that shocked given our recent performances).
  15. I like this idea. The next two teams are teams that we should be able to beat with a "3 yards and a cloud of dust" offensive mentality. Put it on the shoulders of the O-line, challenge them and their manhood to make this happen, get them to develop a mean and nasty streak (well, hopefully without the penalties). Hopefully if they can develop this mentaility over the next couple of games, we should be in the Big 12 championship at the end of the season. But, if the O-line does not "get their heads in the game" so to speak over the next two games, well, it is going to be a loooonnggg season.
  16. I really don't care what formation we line up in; however, ALL of our running plays seem to be slow developing. We have absolutely NO quick-hitters. Anyone can see that our offensive line is not good enough to sustain blocks for 2 or 3 seconds, even against average D-1 competition. This is why we have an anemic running game. BUT, against most of the teams left, I think they are good enough to fire of the ball for 3 to 4 yards (and yes, that produces first downs if the O-line could figure out how to play the game without getting so many penalties). Some would say -- well, you'll get stuffed when they put 8 men in the box. A lead blocker (READ FULLBACK) can negate this and you can still get 3 to 4 yards, BUT you have to have some miss direction in the running game, including counters and THE FB RUNNING THE BALL ONCE IN A WHILE. Also, you have to throw to a streaking TE and/or slot receiver to keep the safeties honest. I really don't care if you hit him are not but you have to at least throw it down field or the safeties will kill you. These short-yardage check downs do nothing to help your running game. Ok, I'll get off my now.
  17. I know I'll get crucified for this, but if he is a legitimate first rounder (i.e. that NFL find out what your worth thing-a-ma-jiggy that under classmen can do says he is) I think he should go ahead a declare himself eligible. A lot can happen in a year of football and it would be in his own best interest to get paid.
  18. I just set it as my background on my computer - too cool.
  19. This is my thinking as well. However, you have several 2nd teamers playing a lot. Also, you have the nickel and dime packages starting a lot. So, what, you give out like 16 or so blackshirts??? Then they lose their meaning. Maybe this is why Bo doesn't like it. You either have to give them out to a ton of players or you don't have a "team" mentality to defense. When someone who isn't a starter steps in they are suppose to play like a starter. No exceptions. Maybe they are done. It would be sad to lose this tradition, but it is what it is.
  20. But does anyone know Witt's ~40 time? I know Lee is fairly mobile (or at least was before knee injury) and Spano and Green are both going to be mobile. It seems like our offense needs a mobile quarterback and Witt didn't look too bad during his TD run. What is his 40 time?
  21. I think this is one of those very evenly matched games. I think KU's strengths play to our weaknesses and vice versa. So, instead of predicting the game, I'll put the Huskers keys to the game (in order of importance).... 1. Can Bo keep these kids' heads up? He did it once after MU, can he do it again after OU? 2. Unforced Errors. Turnovers, plan and simple. -3 vs OU; -1 vs BU; -1 vs ISU; -1 vs TT (but in OT); -2 vs MU, etc etc. We are not a stellar defense, we have to limit their opportunities. Also, stupid penalties fit into this category. 3. The "shell" game. I don't know if it is our offense (players) or Watson, but once a game (minus TT), we seem to go into an offensive shell. I feel we are a little too predictable during these times, but I am no where near as knowledgeable as our staff. If we go into a shell against KU, they could score 14 to 21 un-answered points in a hurry. 4. Blow coverage assignments. Ok, I guess I can't call this a key because at this point in the season, I've just accepted that this will happen multiple times in the game. Hopefully, we can minimize their impact. I lied - My prediction, NU: 41, KU 38
