  1. Day isn't the guy. Day is Solich but in a better recruiting location. OSU won't stand for less than great any more than NU was willing to.
  2. Until this year I probably would not have been very understanding of this situation, but I have a kid that, over the course of a few years, went from loving a sport, then began to barely like it, then started to hate it 1/4 of the way into this past season, so now I get it. Nothing is worse than an athlete out there trying to fake that they care. My kid truly tried to handle business on the field, and did ok at it, but the passion was not there anymore and its just a waste of time at that point. We made the decision to hang up the uniform because it isn't fair to everybody else on team to only partially be "in." I can't hate on Betts for making the same choice.
  3. The biggest difference already between what Frost and Rhule both say they demand with regards to work ethic, maturity, responsibility, etc, is that, while they both say very similar things, Rhule is the only one that actually sent Allen and Farmer packing and told Fleeks to stay home until he was able to hold his head up and say he is doing his part to be on the team. s#!t carries 10000 times more weight when you hold your key diva's accountable like you say you will.
  4. There are not enough teams anybody cares about there to remain competitive long term. They can exist as a G5-esque level conference but any remaining team either needs to be ok with that or be begging for a lifeboat in the Big12
  5. Even if we assume 4 million a game net, that’s only 32 million/year. That’s not enough to sustain and athletic department. The reason the money is rolling in is because schools understand you don’t trip over those nickels, you aim for those broadcast hundies.
  6. I'm not sure it matters. These deals are done BECAUSE they know that the butts are moving out of the stands and into the couch more and more each year. Trying to keep teams in "region" based conferences is exactly what would have sunk any conference that tried to do it. There isn't enough money to focus on trying to get 50-80k people to a location 3 hours 8 times a year. The money is trying to get a large percentage of 350 million to focus on the box in the living room for 8-12 hours 14 times/year. I don't want to be petty, but Nebraska needs to worry more about getting the 80k willing to travel to Memorial again as they are having plenty of issues moving those tickets. I think how many red hoodies show up in Phil Knight land in 2028 is a blip on the "things we should worry about" radar.
  7. Good thing we cleaned house on the O-Line coaching staff. Oh wait..... ;0
  8. That's after the super conference money happens. Likely 2028.
  9. Ya, horrible look for Stivrins.
  10. Iowa is a rival because the horrible people of the state often frequent ours and we have to smell them.
  11. Honestly, if a kid is going to be dumb enough to choose Iowa, it is not likely that he would have been able to maintain academic eligibility here anyway.
  12. And, as a Nebraska boy, has a chance to become a legend here.
  13. Let’s go get the Ivory Coast guys then. At least they are immediately available.
  14. Still. 2 years of “everything can change,” and I’m not spending too much energy here in I’m NU. It’s like a developmental project that is not even around to develop.
  15. I shouldn’t post while I’m at work. Takes too many of my brain cells….
  16. I don't recognize that. Was absolutely the right decision. Ya, we got way worse than we were when they were here, but look no further than the heights of their coaching careers after leaving here to see that they did not have the chops to get us where we want to be. Need to be competing for titles. If not, move on. Sure, may be in vain but the culture of the state is to strive for excellence. We don't tend to be a "settling" type in anything we do.
  17. This makes me sad, but, if being honest. We don't need QB like him to get us to our goals. For sure he'd have made it easier, but its not like we are trying to get over the hump in the upper echelons of the sport. We can get to where we need to get for now, IE, beating Iowa and Purdue, with a Tanner Morgan. As others have said, need to fix soooo many thing before getting a guy like Dylan can have the kind of impact getting a guy like him should have.
  18. No thanks imo. Show something on the field before you earn a scholly imo. This isn't a Disney movie. We suck.
  19. I haven't heard him announce yet, and until I do, I truly think NU is in it. We were told he was going to announce by the people that know everything 2 weeks ago, and, yet here we are. The reason, in my opinion, he is not announcing is because he wants to choose NU but he doesn't want to be stupid. So, he's waiting for NU to not look like a stupid option. Now, time could certainly be running out, but there is a reason he hasn't give his commitment yet. The ONLY reason NU is even in the conversation is that it offers things the other places do not. The chance to be a state and college football legend. I think he loves that idea, but he obviously knows it is not a guarantee. Needs to be convinced Rhule is getting things in place to increase the odds that is going to happen and is using the biggest inside asset he has, his uncle, to monitor it all. In the end, after the spring game, I think what is really happening is he is coming to terms with the long shot hero-dom is at the current level of the program. His smart move is to go to Georgia, and, worst case scenario, it doesn't end up being what he hoped there and he transfers her in 2 years where he can still do all of what he wants to do but behind a line that is two years further into functional. Best case scenario, he nails it at Georgia and is in the pro's in 2-3 years.
