  1. He came in as the #1 lineman from Minnesota - He's been hurt since he got here, He's not starting yet. Clear enough for you - You guys and your Please explain yourself - I can't believe how you people put a personal stake in these players and get all offended - these kid's are here for 4 or 5 years then you shitcan them - and get new ones - Everyone should quit being a little BITCH. OK, let me get this straight. Since he was rated highly by recruiting services coming out of high school and he has been hurt he is obviously a bust and never going to contribute? Give me a break, you are a sad person and I can tell by you calling everyone little "bitches" you are probably not even a Husker fan. Here is why he is not a "bust" (at least at this point in his career) He came in highly regarded, yes, however, so have many players to many colleges and that doesn't automatically guarentee that they are going to be 4 year starters, and to think they should be is just plain stupid. Offensive line in one of the hardest position to come in as a freshman and not only adjust to the college game, but to come in and start. Murtha, if you watched any of the games last year, did start I believe three games. Yes, he struggled at times, but no more than did our senior tackles that had been playing for 4-5 years - and this was only Murtha's SECOND year playing college football (FIRST actually playing). Now, with THREE FRICKIN YEARS of eligibility left, he is a bust, that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. You are probably the same kind of person that says Beck and Lucky are both busts because they either aren't starting or putting up huge numbers. As someone said before, Carriker didn't have a huge year till last season, because of injuries. I'm not sure how people can justify blaming injuries on the individual, I don't think they are trying to get hurt. Murtha has three years left to play, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he doesn't become an all-big 12 tackle in two of those or even an all-american. Uninformed opinions about a damn sophomore are stupid and uninformed.
  2. Murtha is NOT living in his car. Trust me, I'm not going to prove it to anyone and give an address or anything, because this is a message board and it's not worth it. But trust me he is NOT living in his car or anything like that. Oh, and he doesn't have a drug problem. As for the person who said he is a bust. I absolutely HATE when people say crap like this and don't back it up with ANY fact or even opinion. Saying derrr.."he's always hurt" is not only weak, but a rediculous reason as to why someone would be a "bust" He is a back up tackle as a sophomore, there is a good chance that by the time the season rolls around he will be starting. If you would like to explain yourself and give some actually fact to your statement, please do so, but that sounded a lot like a Benard post.
  3. Forcier committed to UCLA.
  4. If Carriker stays healthy, he will have a huge year. If he has a huge year, he will be a first round pick. You can quote me on that. (Oh, and same goes for Bowman)
  5. I believe he meant 9 of 11 on the kick off team. I believe 9 of them were walk ons.
  6. Yes they do, however I am very certain that the mix of Ola, Cryer, Steinkuhler, Suh, and The Beast (Brandon Johnson) will fill that hole very well. I will even go as far as to say that by the end of the year, our DT play will be better than it was this year.
  7. From what I have heard he is playing very well so far this year. When he got here he hadn't had much time in the weight room, Dave Kennedy has changed all that IMO, he will be one of our top 5 WR this year. Here is a recent picture of him
  8. Eric, any idea if he is going to be here for the spring game or for an official during the season?
  9. Wrong, he is supposed to be starting right now. If you have 4 stars or more coming out of high school you have to start your first year or you are a bust. In fact, I think we should start kicking guys off the team that don't produce in their first year, that way we can make room for guys that will.
  10. The thing is next year Beck isn't going to have crap for Play experience because we don't beat anyone bad enough to get him in. And we all know how accurate your predictions are, right? Such, as, oh, your predictions about last season’s record? Or your prediction about NU’s chances at the NCAA tournament? Or your prediction that Incognito would clean up his act and have a great last season at Oregon? Wait a minute - I know! Your uncanny ability to predict bowl winners! Remember this boast? Given that claim, you must have finished first, right? Uh, no. Second? Nope. Surely you didn’t place out of the money, right? Wrong – not even in the top three. Given your record, it appears a lock that Beck's going to see a lot of time under center in games this season... Wow, Benard is a regular Nostradumbass.
  11. Beck is going to be just fine, IMO. I, unlike our buddy Benard, think Beck will get plenty of reps this year because we will have some games in hand. Everytime you hear things about him, nobody ever takes anything away from his physical abilities, in fact I have heard he has gotten better physically. All he needs to work on is accuracy and consistency, both of which can be improved with PRACTICE. IMO, he will get good reps this year and the transition from 06-07 will be a smooth one.
  12. LOL Well, once Mike Stuntz graduated, someone had to take his spot
  13. That's all benard does, is try to get people mad. I have asked him to explain his views on various threads and all I have got is crickets. There is no reason why he should be on this board, he adds nothing. He isn't offering a varying opinion, he is taking over for ff and simply causing trouble. Anyway, on topic. Carriker is going to have a huge year barring injury. No he wasn't taken out on third downs last year, Moore was. He would occasionaly move inside because of his size he was able to do this. If our D-Line stays healthy it should be one of the best in the country.
  14. Benard, I asked you a question and all I hear is crickets. I know you have posted since I asked my question so you've obviously been around here. It's fairly obvious by your silence that your response was nothing but trolling, however, most of us already knew that.
  15. In 1995 Ahman Green was 4th on the depth chart to start the season. Then injuries and LP's legal problem occured and guess what, Ahman stepped up. Nobody knows for sure how the RB situation is going to pan out, but I would be very surprised if injuries or other things didn't shake up the RB position at some point throughout the year. I don't think anyone will be transferring and until I see otherwise, I expect all players on the team to contribute at some point in their careers.
  16. I don't think Frost has ever said he doesn't like Callahan and staff. He simply questions there ability to get it done here. Wouldn't you be a little ticked if all your coaches that you had such good success with got fired? I know if my high school coaches got fired and some new know it all big shot took there place I might have some feelings aswell. So do you feel the same way about all the former NU basketball players who have said some negative things about the program now under collier? Why, after only a year and a half as a coach who is installing a new offense, does a former player that says he is a diehard husker (even though he said his dream was to go to notre dame and actuallly went to stanford) have the right to go onto a very public forum and state that these coaches won't get the job done and still be considered free from critisim. Frost has made it clear that he doesn't like Callahan and Co. and picked the worst time of the season to come out and say it. Answer me this, could you ever see someone like Jason Peter coaching st KSU? Also, of the coaches that were fired in 2003, most of them NEVER coached Scott, and even if he was upset about "his" coaches being gone, why on earth would he blame Callahan and his staff for this, it makes no sense. As for the Collier comparison. No, I don't particularly care for former players that say he isn't a good coach, thats not their place, of course they can have their opinions though. However, Collier has had 6 years to turn the basketball program around, Callahan has had 2. "Calling out" a coach after a year and a half is a whole heck of a lot diffferent than doing it after 6 years. Again, you never explained any of your answers (like WHY Prince is going to be a good coach, etc) you simply asked more questions and provided no explaination, I would expect nothing less.
  17. Before the LJS blog I would have had no problem with Frost going anywhere to coach. After the blog, it is pretty evident that Frost is only about how NU "used" to be and not how they are now, this is not the kind of true husker i care to worry about. I find it hard to believe that he is going to KSU simply because it's a "great" fit and a good place to start. I think it goes deeper than that. BTW, Benard you have added nothing to this discussion and it would be really nice for you to explain any of your opinions because at this point all it does is make people mad. Your lack of effort at explaining yourself gives me no incentive to argue with you. If you decide to actually put some effort into your trolling and explain why you hate this staff, I will have civil discussion with you.
  18. I doubt he will ever go light on jucos. Please explain why you think this. If your only explaination is because he has done it in the past, then you have a weak argument, but my guess is you will never respind anyway. I think Callahan will continue to recruit the best JUCO's he can get IN AREAS OF NEED. IN the last couple of years, we have had needs at almost every position, thus the large number of JUCO's. To think he will continue to recruit a bunch of JUCO's at all positions every year simply shows that you don't know football and or recruiting or don't/didn't understand the situation that Callahan came into. So please, Benard, explain to me why you think we will continue to recruit a large number of JUCO's, I would like to know your thoughts and insights.
  19. The most encouraging thing about all the practice that I have heard so far is that the intensity has been really high. I think this says alot about the mindset of the players and coaches. They know that this can be a special year and are already playing hard even though the season doesn't start for another 5 months. Hopefully we can get through Spring injury free and let his push us into a even higher intensity Fall and have us firing on all cylinders when the season starts.
  20. Thanks everyoen for the words of encouragment. I really do like this site and appreciate everyone that adds to the good quality football discussion here. As to the person that said this site it tame compared to other sites, I agree, but i stay far away from those black holes (especially a specific onw that chagres money). This is a great site and one of the best for recruiting info. Hopefully by this time next year, it will be so rediculous for people like ff to post that it won't really matter, but until then all I can say is Keep the Faith and trust that is team and coaching staff will take us to the top where we belong. It will be a much easier task with all of Husker Antion behind them. Go Big Red!
  21. I'm sorry if I gave the impression that I don't think this is a good board, it is and i appreciate the mods that keep it going. I just don't see any reason why "opinions" like Billy slash should wear huskers shirts at press conferences have any amount of good in them. They don't cause good football discussion, they just cause people to get mad. As far as being on a site where there are only "sunshine pumpers" i really see nothing wrong with that because there is serious football discussion (which there also is here), however, idiotic comments aren't simply seen as differing opinions, but are seen for what they are, a guy trying to make trouble that is not using facts to back up an argument, just his opinion that everyone already knows is coming. I'm sure this kind of environment isn't for anyone, but I enjoy it. Again, I'm sorry if I offended anyone, and i do enjoy the recruiting section of this site. But while I like to argue and discuss issues related to the huskers as much as anyone, listening to usless ramblings about what our coach is wearing isn't my idea of football discussion. Go Big Red!
  22. Comments like this are why i don't post here anymore. It's people like formerfan that make some message boards unreadable. I'm fairly certain he's not a husker fan, because if he actually is (or was) he is a sad, sad pathetic human being. I liked this board when I first started posting here, but I have found a better one. One where non husker trolls aren't allowed to rant and rave about rediculous things like what kind of shirt Bill Callahan wears. There is a difference between letting people have their opinions and letting people polute a perfectly good husker supporting message board with useless babble like formerfan and benard bestow. I still read the recruiting board because Eric the Red and others do a great job of keeing things up to date with recruits and what not, but for husker discussion, I have moved on. Go Big Red!
  23. It's pretty obvious that the o-line is going to be improved over last year. How much improved they are is the real question. If they really step it up, the other postions on the offense seem to be in good shape and next year could be a very special season.
  24. Yup, I agree. Even at the NFL level a lot of players have to learn multiple positions unless they are obvious starters. Look at Russ Hochstein, he played center this year for the Patriots because of injuries but has played most of his career at guard. It is like this for a lot of back ups. Looking at the depth chart there are a few people who are obviously at a certain position like Murtha (tackle) but most are able to move around. ps - I think it is a great idea that they are moving Slauson to a guard, to me he just looks like a guard and I think there is a little more potential depth at the tackle spots for someone else to move into those spots.
  25. No idea what time the game is going to be but my guess is that it won't be nationally televised. If this is true i would think they would try to get it on pay-per-view and those games are usually in the late afternoon-night. If it isn't televised at all I would guess a noon start or so. If our coaches had their way all the games would be in the late-afternoon or night because that give the best chance to get recruits to come in for visits.
