  1. This season is a bit of a mystery. If Nebraska manages to stay healthy, particularly at QB, then 7 wins is possible. At this juncture, however, Nebraska is not a particularly talented team. It's likely that Sims will be injured at some point, and I don't see Nebraska winning games with Purdy or Haarberg at QB. Nebraska goes 4-8 or 5-7.
  2. Honestly this is a good thing, and I commend you for your willingness to mention it.
  3. Oh God, they haven't learned their lesson. They seriously are incapable of introspection. We're doomed. These people are beyond parody and can't be saved.
  4. Stop rationalizing your poor voting choices and own up to it. You voted for a corrupt moron. Everybody saw this coming. Trump was declaring fraud leading up to the election, which you promptly ignored (or worse, agreed with) and voted for him anyway. You continue to try and give the man a pass because it's difficult to reconcile that you twice voted for a guy who conspired against the United States and sought to undermine democracy. His willingness to go to that level was talked about leading up to the election. You voted for it. Own it. Recognize that your voting behavior - and that of your fellow Republicans - is a danger to the country. So sit the next one out. Take a moment to think about how you - and the rest of the Republican voting base - got so easily duped into being a danger to the country. After many election cycles (I say give it 10 or 15) maybe come back and vote again.
  5. Exactly. It took fortitude and a willingness to be blind not to see this coming. This is funny, but I do remember Trump claiming in the summer leading up to the election saying he'd only lose if there was fraud. The groundwork was being laid for months. Ironically, Trump probably wins the election if he doesn't decry mail in ballots leading up to election day. It's funny that Republicans just can't shake this guy. They see the United States as a corrupt state unfairly treating their Populist Warrior.
  6. Personally, I'm glad it wasn't Georgia or the other usual suspects. Talent going elsewhere is good for the sport long term.
  7. Imagine voting for this twice and being gullible enough to still support this party. If you've fallen victim - just know that it's okay. But please stop voting, the country barely survived the stupidity last time. Don't put us through it again.
  8. Having Sims be a running threat will help, but I'm not sure I agree about the RBs. Particularly to close the season, the RBs struggled. Grant: last 3 games 2.0, 1.8, 0.4 YPC, 0 TDs. Up and down year. Irvin: 6 total carries in last 3 games, 2.4 YPC, 0 TDs Johnson: 2 carries against Michigan 6.5 YPC, 0, and 4.5 YPC against Iowa. Great game against Iowa but had costly turnover. That's with Trey Palmer keeping defenses honest. Nebraska is going to have to lean on the defense and hopefully start winning turnover battles to hope for 6 wins.
  9. I will say, the 'good' news is that our WR depth is pretty terrible, so it's pretty likely that Satterfield is going to have to call more runs based off necessity. The OL was slightly below average in run blocking, but with a mobile QB they should end up with better numbers. I do struggle to see Nebraska getting to 6 wins based on how the offense seems set up to perform, however.
  10. You can't make this up. Republicans are beyond parody.
  11. Considering the running back room, it's going to be a rough season on offense. Having a running threat at QB will help compared to last year, but overall the backs weren't good once we got into conference play. If we have to run Sims a lot - which I think they will - hopefully he stays healthy.
  12. Fair enough. I certainly could have used different words for my analogy that weren't as colorful to express my belief that our Line play had to do with player quality instead of their position coach. My apologies.
  13. Casey Thompson wasn't exactly a run first QB. I don't know what you're talking about. He ran for his life, missed games, and had off season surgery. Having all all three of your QBs get injured in the same season - two of which required off season surgery - is rare. The backups did have more designed runs called, but getting both injured is still rare. By any metric, the pass blocking was horrid. 113th in overall sack rate, they were 104th in standard down sack rate. 111th in passing down sack rate. No matter how you dice it, they were bad.
  14. TIL having a last name and eating dinner is worthy of Congressional investigation. It does make me laugh that all these investigations just prove that Biden doesn't do anything wrong and his son just used his last name to make money.
  15. His entire schtick is telling rural Americans that the America they know is being destroyed, the country is in ruin, crime is seeping into their neighborhoods, etc. His speech about American carnage epitomizes this ethos and galvanizes his base - a horde of uneducated rural Americans. Those same voters, of course, have a well documented history of voting against their own interests. Simultaneously, rural areas are bleeding people, wealth, and their tax base. This problem is not unique to America, and I'm not sure what policies we can realistically pass to improve the situation.
  16. Honestly, you may not be wrong. I personally believe that the players aren't particularly good, but in fairness to them they've had multiple coaches across multiple schemes. Improving with little continuity is difficult.
  17. Honestly, to judge the OL coach, t probably takes 3 years to determine if they're good coaches. It takes a year to get recruits, and typically 1-2 years before they're ready. I don't think this is true for all position groups, where guys can play as true or redshirt freshman. It just so happens that it takes a lot of physical development for the lines, and as such more time to judge if coaches are good or not.
  18. Really it was just an analogy buddy. They're pretty terrible, however. Let's not act like this iteration of the Oline has been anything other than a disaster. The last 4 quarterbacks thats had the misfortune of taking snaps behind it has been injured. One of those quarterbacks had his jaw wired shut and ate through a tube for half a season. All three quarterbacks from last season - protected by the very same OL we're entering 2024 with - were injured. Two of them required off season surgery. This line isn't just bad. It's actively dangerous to play behind, as all the QBs who's taken snaps behind it can attest.
  19. I would argue that he's not a miracle worker. It could just be that the line is just full of bad players, which they are. It sucks that they haven't lived up to their recruiting rankings but that happens. If you give a coach piles of s#!t and expect him to sculpt it into a Michaelangelo pieces of art, that might be a tough task. He should be judged as a coach by his recruiting ability and ability to develop them. To my knowledge, not a single lineman projected to start was recruited by him. I don't know if he'll be given the time to prove that since the line is pretty likely to be extremely bad again, but those are my opinions.
  20. I present to you the front runner to become the nominee for the Republican Party. The people that voted for him twice, and will do so a third time, can take soloce in the fact that Trumps defence is that he violated the Constitution but it wasn't illegal when he did it. I understand that there's no floor for how low the Republican Party will go to court voters, but cmon Trump voters. Have some respect for yourselves!
  21. They were based on the lot, but it was only like 90 bucks a month that first year. Good times. Rates will probably stay high for another 18 months. I can see rates dropping back into the 5% range in like 2025 or 2026, sooner if there's a recession. Keep in mind that any decrease in interest rates will be offset by the increase in overall housing costs. Depending on where you live of course. If you live in any city with over 100k people, chances are prices are going to resume going up for the foreseeable future.
  22. All of that is fair, but interest rates are the result of actions by central banks, mostly the Federal Reserve. No matter who was President, the rates should be where they are causing housing to be where it is today. The Federal Reserve said as much in early 2020. It's why I built a house that summer.
  23. Investment in manufacturing is at a multi decade high, overall unemployment is at a 40 year low, prime age unemployment is at a multidecade low, domestic oil production at an all time high, inflation the lowest in the industrialized world with simultaneously the highest growth, etc. Luckily vibes aren't how we measure the economy. I get that vibes is pretty much all Republicans can run on at this point, since they're morally and politically bankrupt, offer no policy solutions to help people, and who's political establishment actively assisted a moron into committing felonies against the country. I do agree with you. Frankly, until other countries get their economic house in order, a certain amount of uncertainty will persist. Considering his opposition party and the economic conditions inherited, what else should the Administration be doing to help business conditions? Perhaps there's small things that can be done, but I'm not sure there's much more they can do considering Congress.
