  1. Think about the fact that Nebraska could've very well won if not for that tipped pick-six. Tommy locked onto his man again and didn't see the read by Iowa's LB. Do you realize that it wasn't an LB who picked off that pass? TA didn't "lock into his man" on screen that resulted in the pick six. He threw to the guy who should have been open, but Alex Lewis blew his block. And that guy made a great play on the ball. It happens. But from a "read" perspective, TA made the correct throw. I bring news from the North! I must say, you keep me going, cm. Only someone with a ton of time and effort can properly hate like you. From the page where you got that pic: Link Late in the 2014 season, sure. I'm addressing 2015. And he's still there. On the depth chart. In 2015. As has already been pointed out. Ah I see. Thanks for pointing that out, Mavric. Not sure why they still have him at LB.

Why are you throwing Lewis under a bus? I wouldn't say that's throwing Lewis under the bus. That guy was his to block and he didn't get him cut like he was supposed to. It was a bad play on Lewis' part. It was worse on TA's. Totally agree, by CM likes to label many of us as "player haters" for criticizing players. Well unfortunately, criticism comes with accepting a scholarship to play big boy college football. I have 100 percent respect for college athletes off the field until they give me a reason not to, but their performance on the field/court, etc. is always up for critique.
  4. He's not a good fit for the offense that Riley/Langs runs, that's the extent of it. He's the best they've got and they have to make due. That's the extent of it.
  5. So a linebacker playing zone that happens to pick off a pass is playing cornerback or safety? Typically when a defensive player lines up with both hands on the ground over the offensive tackle they are called a defensive end. I know football is hard for you but that's a pretty common term for that player. He wasn't playing zone, Lewis tried to cut him, he fought it off and read the play. Everything about this post is glorious.
  6. Clueless post. Two 4 star QBs and a 3 star along with a walkon who previously showed promise. Give Riley and Langs Hackenburg, Cook or any other "game manager" and they are still going to produce their average seasons, just like they always have. A coach who can't win with this roster is the problem, not the other way around. 2004-2007 deja vu all over again. I accept that a lot of fans didn't learn, but it is truely sad, that Prickman didn't learn anything from that fiasco. Shows what a feckless "leader" he really is. Also, I couldn't agree more with world's post. Just like in 2004, Riley's staff is trying to force a square peg into a round hole, even though they said they wouldn't. Sigh. They totally redesigned the offense around Tommy because he's the best QB on the 2015 roster and there's no stud RB like Abdullah or even Burkhead. You saw what Fyfe brings. Bush and Darlington are no better and it wouldn't surprise me to see both gone. This offense is like a custom-made suit for Armstrong. You can only do so much to help before the player starts ripping at the seams. Can you explain how they redesigned the offense around Tommy? Alright. It's obvious Tommy was the best offensive player that would consistently touch the ball, no? Start there. Riley actually loves having the ability available to him that Armstrong brings as a player in terms of having a pass/run threat (I know many won't believe that, but I can assure you that it's true). One of Nebraska's deepest positions this year was receivers (this doesn't change going into 2016). Knowing this, how do we best work with what we have? 1. Take advantage of what Tommy knows (ZR) 1b. Get him backs for the ZR option(s) 2. Get the receivers in place to help him be the most effective QB he can be. 3. Coach the OL and blockers to this. It's been all Tommy all the time. This is why we've seen him play when badly banged up and to the point where he had to throw off his back foot.

  8. The fade wasn't preferred. In fact, it wasn't the correct throw. Today's piece outlines that.

  12. In relationship to the OP: 3. Does NU not have any QB behind TA that is even reasonably prepared to play in a Power 5 conference? If not Why? - No, because Bo Pelini's roster management/recruitment was horrible and we're seeing the results of it. If Armstrong's an efficient QB, Nebraska nudges out Iowa for the nation's love this year. If given the option, I'd take an 80 percent healthy Armstrong over a completely healthy Fyfe (and this choice has been made).

  15. Putting the "hip" in "hip hip hooray!" I had a pretty awesome first meeting with Coach Riley myself, so I hope you don't mind me horning in (that's a very appropriate pun for this story). I was in Lincoln to take in another spring practice, but this week there was a coaches' clinic. There must've been 500 coaches from Nebraska and all the surrounding areas there. There was a really cool vibe. You could just sense that there was a passion for and knowledge of the game in the air. I spoke with some of the support staff who are equally as impressive as any coach. If you get a chance to talk to Ryan Gunderson or Andy Vaughn, do it. The lead speaker was none other than Mack Brown. I knew this day was going to be one to remember. Naturally there was some good-natured ribbing about his presence (one second, everybody chuckles, etc.). Coach Brown comes off as very humble and charismatic guy. He talked for 30 minutes or so about coaching and how Vince Young almost became a "never-was" instead of a guy who trotted Texas to a national title. After he was done, I realized the opportunity I had in front of me and I had to take it. Riley and Brown were both chatting like old war buddies and I kinda gauged the situation. You know how you don't want to interrupt a conversation so you wait for that lull? I nailed the lull. Fortunate enough to say I spoke to both for a little while and caught up with Riley again as practice winded down. One of the easiest people to talk to who genuinely takes an interest in who you are. Actually made an effort to remember my name (we'll see how long it sticks).
  16. Started at -1, jumped to -3 within about 40 minutes, but this'll essentially be a pick'em. I wouldn't bet this game with your money.
  17. Just started watching Man in the High Castle this evening. Acting's a little off, but I still like the story. If you like it, see if you can find the two seasons of Jericho. I'm not much into anime but Death Note's a fantastic story. Highly recommend even if it's not typically your thing. Attack on Titan's pretty good, too.
  18. More importantly: No one's been charged. The more time passes with this being the case, the less of a problem I believe it to be.
  19. This pretty much says it all. We've been pretty good at not fumbling this year. But the interceptions. Oy! They just need to cut down on the why-would-you-throw-that-up-in-the-air-like-a-paper-airplane... throws... and they should be OK. The technical term is "armpunt".

  21. Hopefully Patrick can help us keep him interested. Imagine if we get Keyshawn, Jr. AND Tristan Gebbia... Not as wild a thought as you might think.
  22. I know enough about your true feelings from everything accessible at HuskerMax. I didn't allude to that. You comprehended it that way. Maybe my writing's not so awful. Maybe you just don't care for it...or me? Anyway, this thread has gotten off topic enough. I know how you feel.
