Well after being taken to the woodshed last night by Ohio State, perhaps they need to start yelling. Looked soft to me, but I didn't expect much more from the PAC 12. The conference as a whole has never impressed me with their defense or physical play. USC under Carroll being the exception. Sometimes yelling and lighting a fire is required for motivation. Some kids respond others don't. Good coaches know what buttons to push and when to push it.

Sorry I read this post but this is one Husker player I wish never wore red. Totally disgusting what he did to Mike Denny former UNO wrestling coach. As they were celebrating there 3rd national title in a row Trev gives him a call and cuts the wrestling program. Scum Bag with no class is all I can say. Oh by the way Maryvillve University decides to take a chance on Mike Denny and have him coach a brand new wrestling team they started. Last weekend Mike Denny won another Division 2 national dual wrestling championship. Hopefully Trev Alberts goes away for good.

I don't see much of a difference in five years. Winning 9 games a year in today's world of college football is very successful in my opinion. I see the Nebraska imagine greatly improved because Riley will conduct himself in a much more positive light. As far as winning titles and making the playoffs I feel Nebraska could reach that level, but several things would need to change. Mike Riley was starting to create lots of negative talk at Oregon St for his lack or unwillingness to change his offensive scheme. Let's just say the PAC 12 was starting to pass him up with the increased innovative offenses. He is also going to take heat and I feel the Nebraska fans will make their voices known quickly about how our defense plays. I also see more penalties than former Nebraska teams.

Really an old argument. Excuses like that only last so long. But you can win big at Oregon State. When Mike Riley left for the Chargers Dennis Erickson(big name proven) came in and coached them to a BCS bowl and win over Notre Dame.

Yeah and all those years of experience and still no major titles......hmmmm

Sorry my facts were off they played in Alamo bowl last year and ended 10-2, but Rose Bowl victory this year and a second national title appearance in recent years. Frost has also coached DB's and I believe WR's at Oregon prior to his promotion. The head coach was a NAIA QB at Southern Oregon.

Well considering Oregon has been in BCS bowls for six straight years this is much more than Mariota. Scott Frost has been the main recruiter of many of these big name players. He's the real deal. Word is Oregon is in the lead for Hawaiian Superstar QB recruit Tua Tagovailoa who they say is the next Mariota. Oregon just reloads. I think they'll have their first National Title next week. The Frost stock is going to continue to rise. He is just added dollar amounts to his resume.

Well count bility or whatever your handle is no in fact I didn't. Perhaps if you'd read any type of news stories outside of your small bubble of Nebraska you'd see the story was printed on Oregonlive on 12-29-14. So if you have a problem with me because I'm not buying the baloney your being fed just come out and say it. Serious question......you have a problem with it try complaining to the investigative reporter who is writing the story. All I'm saying is he is no Barney Fife nor a Savior. He's a man and a Football coach that's it.

Well in today's Oregonian newspaper or oregonlive on the net they had another very detailed story of the rape scandal involving the OSU players in 1998. This has been an incredible story about OSU dropping the ball big time. I found it interesting in the article they quoted an administrator at OSU that said Mike Riley wasn't hired at Oregon State to win football games, but to increase the donor base with Alumni money. They also had a quote which They made some reference that Mike Riley said he recalled the incident in 1998 but not the details. Ha ha good one. Two of your players and a recruit accused of gang rape and the story is still coming up about how it was handled. Barney Fife I don't think so. Hopefully, Nebraska has some tight reins on how players will be disciplined. Lots of felony arrest of players at Oregon St. Also don't forget OSU two best teams 2000-2001 were coached by Dennis Erickson, He took over and the next season took the Beavers to a BCS bowl and win over Notre Dame. Let's hope Nebraska has hired this man to win games. I for one believe this is way more political and all about imagine, the donor base and future ticket sales and not about winning. I was never a fan of BO not from day one. All I can say is be careful what you wish for going forward. BO ran a tight ship and a clean program. They won a lot of games and his players stayed out of serious trouble for the most part. He also had an impressive graduation rate for his program. I for one don't think Mike Riley is Barney Fife.

I agree you run into Big Red fans all over the U.S. Great fan base!!! I do disagree with all the positive sunshine. It's too bad you've all put your faith in a lawyer who is the A.D. Coach Riley is a nice man. You can believe all you want, but I've watched his beavers play for several years. Lot's of penalties, breakdown in defense. This years squad had 9 seniors returning on defense. Take a look at where they finished on a national level on defense. Pathetic!!! Banker isn't the solution. I will give the Husker fan base props for always believing the future glory days are coming back. i just don't see it happening with a long term Career coach with a winning record just above the .500 mark. Save your remarks about how you can't recruit at Oregon state....blah blah. Explain that concept to the Chargers. The new Oregon State coach will win at OSU. Just stop getting your hopes all up about turning the progr around. We just fired a coach with 7 seasons of 9 wins and a high graduation rate. Good coaches win period.!!'nn

I wish him and whatever staff he hires the best. I'd love to see this program feared again. I'm going to refrain from any type of conversation since many that hear things they don't want to think about or agree with they decide to name call and discredit. Funny I've seen a lot of that in politics at the all levels the last ten years.

But I promise from this point forward I'll be positive. I must admit seeing what Scott Frost is doing at Oregon and his Nebraska legacy I thought he was a sure hire. Please no Scott Frost hire debate. It didn't happen. I feel they really dropped the ball, but let's move on.

Also for the posters who keep saying very little talent at OSU. They've had more talent then Nebraska. They've played in a BCS bowl In last decade. They beat both UCLA and Winny in 2012. We lost both those games. Oregon State is not the arm pit all you trying to claim to justify this hire and believe.

I've been trying to tell all you back in my great State of Nebraska this is a complete joke. All I've gotten is hate comments tossed my way and various name calling. I've watched this guy and his teams for over ten years in Oregon. Very soft!!!! I wish him the best, but if he remains loyal and brings most of his staff you'll be thankful for a 9 win season. This hire was solely made because coach Riley has positive energy and he fits the nice guy imagine Nebraska is trying to restore. I hope for the best, but I'll believe when I see it.

Im not a fan of the hire at all. Mainly because I've lived close to Oregon St for over 15 years and I've seen it up close. But with that note I'm no longer going to complain and be hopeful he can turn things around. It's been a long painful decade. For the poster who compared Oregon St to UNK pretty much delusional. Oregon St has had several teams in the last 10-15 years that would've beat Nebraska. Oregon State beat both Wisconsin and UCLA in 2012. Those two were in the loss category for us.

Frost is a can't miss HC. I was highly let down we didn't get him, He has things rolling at Oregon, I'm sure he's looking at a hefty raise. I like them to finally Win the whole thing. I wish him the best whatever happens. Im also grateful we finally have a calm leader on the sideline wearing the headset in 2015.

Riley has never used a dual threat QB at Oregon St. All his QB's are gun slingers drop back pocket Passers.

Well for starters for everyone saying Nebraska isn't the place to train new coaches....I'll also say it's not the place to be hiring coaches that don't win. Riley doesn't win period. They didn't hire or contact Scott Frost because SE and Pearlman have no Nebraska ties. They could care less about our 1997 QB who has been coached by the top minds in the game. Played in the NFL and is currently blowing out Arizona in this title game. Scott Frost is the wow factor. He's a leader, champion and proven winner. Oregon's top recruiter. He'll out coach and beat Riley anyday and just did last weekend. How else to you bring back this program. You bring back one of its leaders who won a national title. So Nebraska if you want to get on the wow and it factor in FB it's in your best interest to bring Frost home. According to an Oregon newspaper Scott was shocked Mike left OSU and was hired by Nebraska. I hear you Scott so was the majority of us that have followed college football.

Glendower......I know Im living in the past like the majority of our fan base. Still dreaming about our national Titles from another life time. Our so called resources and so much to offer hasn't done much for our program the last 15 years. Bottom line You have to win. We've become irrelevant on the national scale to many top notch athletes in the nation. We've slipped so far we just hired a coach who just won 5 games this season and one that half the State of Nebraska had to google just to figure out who the hell is our new coach. Sad state of affairs.

He sure is the complete opposite of BO. He's only won 9 games 4 times in his coaching career and never consecutive. The BS being pumped about this hire is so funny too me. He was hired to repair the perceived damage that BO created on a national Level about being bad sports. Pearlman and SE were embarrassed by BO. They had to get TO out of the picture for a year and then they could start trying to repair our good sportsmanship imagine. This guy won't win titles. Never has in his career. Did give me the BS either about his recruiting. His recruits are 2 stars out of California and Oregon. He gets the Cali recruits because it's close to home.

Of course he opens up the practices at Oregon St. They begging for fans. The stadium holds around 40,000 and I'm sure he had less than 20 people watching. Baseball is the game at Oregon St.

Look at his records over the years at OSU. Whatever you want to call it Pro Style, West Coast, Adaptive to his players skills. Blah blah....whatever it's been it's only been a little above .500 mark. But I would've put his Beavers up against the Huskers every year for the last ten years and I bet Oregon State wins that ten year series. But that's how awfully bad I think the Nebraska program has fallen. Whatever he runs at Nebraska will be better than Beck. Just please don't expect this guy to win titles. They'll win 7-10 games a year and he won't make a fool out of himself on National TV. I didn't care for BO but Im calling total BS that this replacement was hired to win Titles. This guy was hired to repair the imagine and good sportsmanship virtues at Nebraska. Our program has been the highlight real of sour faces the last 7 years. Coach Riley was brought in to be nice and keep the tickets and donor money coming. You wouldn't hire this guy and his long term winning percentage of .536? to compete for titles.

That would be a great move. The more top notch staff he can put together the more faith I have in this selection. Until I see it Im very doubtful of the hire. Please don't bring anyone from Oregon State. The whole 5 wins this year!!! Various other years of losing seasons. Also get use to Pro style West Coast ball. The power running game and smash mouth ball isn't come back with this coach.

Boyd coming back would make a huge impact. I truly believe it's a major factor in our play the last ten to twelve years. If you think Riley has any type of weight training guru At Oregon St you're very off base. Oregon State has never out muscled much of anyone. In fact a few schools like Eastern Washington and Sacremento St put the beat down on the Beavers. Even Portland St gave Oregon State all they wanted. The whole Mike Riley story out here in the NW has been the joke of Portland the last two days. Various remarks like "can you believe who Nebraska hired". They did what? Yeah we want to win Conference titles and championships. Hmmmm......as Scott Frost and his O is currently up 44-7 on Arizona. I think we contacted the wrong Oregon school. Of course Husker faithful will get behind and believe anything the media tells them. Im sure I'll get several responses like I've got today. Some called me pissed. Some called me stupid and grumpy. I say that's the typical response from all of America today. When they hear things they don't agree with or believe they like to name call and then discredit. They've rose to occasion in several games and beat highly ranked teams. They've also lost to the powerhouse of Sacremento St and Eastern Washington. I know EU won the Div 2 title. Ok folks if you're ok with NU losing to Chadron state then just keep on believing. I hope all of you and coach Mike Riley prove me wrong. I do know he has coached for a long time and he's just above the .500 mark. I do know the Charges gave him a boot very quick. Prove me wrong please. I just know the product I've seen up and close. Not like the majority of you who asked who? Then goggled his name and did some internet research and started listening to all the talking heads. Several people have been bashing Collin Cowherd on this site from ESPN for his remarks. Cowherd knows like I do. He use to be the radio guy in Portland for 1610 The fan. He's seen it up in close.
