  1. I expect our offense to mirror Alabama's. A pro style smash mouth single back type of offense. I-Formation, Weak-I, Strong-I, and lots of Ace formations with two tights. Expect quick Screens, Play Action, draws, counters, stretch runs, fullback dives. All the things I have seen at Oregon State. Our offensive style will appeal to recruits. The days of mowing teams down with the run game on a week to week basis is over. No one can be one dimensional in today's college football. I do believe there'll be more emphasis on the QB's and passing in 2015 but these coaches are smart enough to know that you've got to have a solid rushing attack to compliment your aerial attack.
  2. I'd prefer two Lavonte David's. Hell I'd take two Phillip Dillard's over our current LB's.
  3. Wasn't there a rumor Frank was banging a cheerleader? Plus he has/had a serious drinking problem. Yeah, I miss him too! Geez. Does this crap ever end?
  4. You must have forgotten his game winning touchdown catch against Michigan State in 2012. Sure the kid wasn't healthy but he made some clutch plays.
  5. When Banker had the talent and players his defenses played smart assignment football and fundamentals. This is something we haven't seen IMO since 2009. Since then we've seen busts, poor tackling, players way out of position and an overall lack of team speed. Too many times the D got out coached. 2009 was the year our defense was loaded with talent. Now, at Nebraska there should be no excuse for shortage of talent. It's there. Right now. I think Banker will coach the players up and preach fundamentals, assignments, etc. Rather than read and react passively, we will attack aggressively and think on the fly. I saw some of that in some OSU highlights.
  6. This thread has hit its pinnacle. The OP coincidentally predicted when BP would be fired. Nothing any average fan could take a guess at since it was a 50/50 shot. The Sock Puppet Fails.
  7. Thats a good thing, especially since he's the DC... that was the joke, my man. but also, i am really not surprised by this. and i will just give this hire the benefit of the doubt, though. also, you responded quickly. i edited my post. I will give the guy the benefit of the doubt as well... He has to know he's got the weapons to make this defense frightening again, and I hope he's able to do that... i agree. and i do have concerns about him. i hope riley really thinks these are the best guys for the task at hand and not just trying to see what his guys can do at a better school. My fear is that Riley's selection of Banker is motivated by a sense of "loyalty" and not wanting to be the dick who leaves his buddies behind. Getting a promotion and hiring new assistants instead of the ones you were with before is basically saying, "Yeah, you're not good enough." That would be hard to do. I hope Riley didn't subordinate the program's best interests just because he didn't want to have to hurt anyone's feelings. We shall see if he has the stones to can his buddy if the **** hits the fan. My gut feeling says no because he has followed Riley everywhere. Who knows maybe he will become our very own Bud Foster. He was loyal to Frank Beamer for a very long time.
  8. Now now... Don't lower your standards for anyone. Not one bit. The bar is set at 10 wins per season and West division titles. Didn't you get the memo?!
  9. No one heard Bo's final words before walking out. "At the end of the day, I didn't execute. I gotta get better. I gotta get better. I gotta get it fixed."
  10. At the end of the day fellas at the end of the day listen at the end of the day you gotta be at the end of the day strong at the end of the day.
  11. Are the mods in Bermuda or something? Or are we waiting for some Hawkeye fans to start trolling us too?
  12. Anything less than a B1G title appearance and this hire loses its sexiness. Period. That should be the bar. Not 8 wins, 9, wins, 10 wins and so on and so forth. Finish 9-3 and win the B1G or lose competitively and MR ends up looking like a great hire. I am a firm believer that most Nebraska fans have no idea how much MR and his staff develop players. Get ready for sound, guys sticking to their assignments/disciplined and mistake free football. That alone should create some kind of separation with teams along with our talent to boot. The players will be coached up like they never have before. Especially Quarterbacks and the Offensive Line.
  13. The comparison between Banker and Bo are not fair IMO. Banker could have results here similar to what Pelini had at LSU (aggressive top 10 D) we just won't know until we get a chance to evaluate the finished product by this time next year. I withhold my judgement until then. The results against UO over the years worry me but their win against ASU's two back spread offense provides somewhat of a look-see.
  14. Hate to say it but it was pretty evident this year that Tommy Armstrong doesn't go through his progressions well and doesn't check down either. He has hot routes and telegraphs his throws. How many times this year did he completely not see a wide open Kenny Bell or other receiver?? Lots. I can't recall one screen or dump off to Abdullah other than the miracle play by Ameer vs McNeese. You can't coach vision in a QB. You either got it or you don't. See Zac Taylor/Joe Ganz. TA is Martinez 2.0 minus the Forrest Gump straight line speed.
  15. I've got a feeling Riley will ultimately call the shots on offense thus resulting in a "decent OC hire" who'll have nothing but a birds eye view for Riley. I hope I'm wrong but he's been doing that for 14 years somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
  16. Ah I see he is the QB Coach with the Miami Dolphins. Maybe he could be the eyes in the booth for Riley?
  17. Now all we need is Kevin Steele for DC and Ed Orgeron on the d-line. We need a new TE coach unless the WR guy handles both duties and I think Brown will be retained. He's got a ton of experience more than the other guys he's bringing in. I'm assuming Riley will be more or less the QB Coach and person who calls plays like he did at OSU. It would be nice to get an actual QB coach though. Is Zac Taylor still coaching???
  18. Not sure if this has been mentioned but I overheard Coach Riley's interview with Sharpe and Matt Davison "They lost the guys that recruited them that coached them. They don't know what this new guy and this new staff will be about." I think he spoke the truth. Nobody on this staff will be retained IMO. Clean slate.
  19. So everyone's caught up with OC, DC, Frost, Orgeron, retaining staff, letting them go. Let us not forget our boys at times got whipped physically on both sides of the ball. Does that all REALLY equate to coaching? Do we keep current NU Strength coach/team? Do we bring back Boyd Eppley? Or will Mr. Riley bring in the guy at OSU or does je go above and beyond and find his own established "guy" At this stage I think it would be best to go after somebody with experience who will toughen (I mean that by 1000%) this group up and whip them into better shape to be a physical bunch and asap. This could be one of the more important hires. If that is Eppley, I'm all for it.
  20. Unless his predecessor convinces him not to leave Stanford.
  21. My prediction is it will be a coach from the $EC either MO's Pickle or AR's Bolemia.
  22. Thanks for showin' up... We've been lost without your valuable input.. I come and go. Is it normal to bump into the same people into different threads or... am I being followed? I feel strange. I must sign out.
  23. The legendary Wally Rig himself is going to lead us to the promised land! Not for the faint of heart. Look at the fire in those eyes!
