  1. That is a good question and I never thought of it that way. According to Foursquare (a location tracking company on mobile devises), the foot traffic to his hotels, casinos, and golf courses is down since he announced. But after he became Trump the presidential candidate, Foursquare found his properties didn’t see their usual seasonal boost and, by August 2015, the share of people hoofing it to all Trump properties was down 17 percent from the same period in 2014. After stabilizing to single-digit losses, the start of primary season primetime in March 2016 saw a 17 percent drop in share of people at Trump properties. The picture is more dire in the breakdown of foot traffic to Trump properties in traditionally red vs. blue states, bearing in mind that Trump properties are located mostly in blue states and rely on guests who live in the region, according to Foursquare. Across Trump locations in New York, New Jersey, Illinois, and Hawaii, foot traffic started to take a hit in March 2016, with the year-on-year share losses widening to 20 percent in July. The losses were even worse among women, whose visits sustained double-digit losses. In blue states, Foursquare found visits from women to Trump properties were down 29 percent in July.
  2. To me, these are scary results of the Texas poll. Are people really this dumb naive?
  3. Trump only +6 in Texas. http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/main/2016/08/trump-leads-by-only-6-in-texas.html
  4. I saw that earlier and seemed odd to me. I guess we lose the tough roadies (NW, Wisc, OSU, Iowa)? I wonder how much he ties these out (his conference records at least tie out)? Will he have Oregon losing 1 noncon game?
  5. According to our polls-only model, Clinton has a lead of at least 9 percentage points in states collectively worth 273 electoral votes, including New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Colorado, Michigan and Wisconsin. Ohio, Florida, Iowa, Nevada and North Carolina are closer, by contrast. http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/election-update-10-big-questions-about-the-election-revisited/
  6. From Sam: At safety, Gerry has an all-conference look — he’s dialed in. Opposite Gerry, Kieron Williams and Aaron Williams are battling for the starting job with Kieron staying at safety when Aaron moves to the nickel. Both should play quite a bit early in the season. Neither is as big as Antonio Reed — still coming back from offseason surgery, and the upside on Avery Anderson could be higher than all of them. Freshmen Tony Butler and JoJo Domann seemed well-suited to the college game, and Domann has a sneaky nasty streak. He knows how to get an extra shot in right after a pass has cleared the head of a receiver. http://www.omaha.com/huskers/football/mckewon-husker-defensive-coordinator-mark-banker-wants-to-be-aggressive/article_847c666a-af93-5a09-a7b1-7144707fca82.html
  7. From Sam: Chris Jones has been Nebraska’s best cornerback. He’s been aggressive, active with his hands and confident. He’s been better on the deep passes than Joshua Kalu. But Kalu has been decent, too. I think Kalu can be a good tackler when the mood strikes him. Jones needs more work there. Kalu also has ball skills; he’s good at making things happen. The No. 3 cornerback is redshirt freshman Eric Lee. He’s physical and competitive for a shorter, stockier guy. If Lee is good enough by the time the season rolls around, Kalu could play nickel. If not, Kalu stays outside and Aaron Williams plays nickel. Among the young corners, Lamar Jackson, DiCaprio Bootle and Marquel Dismuke didn’t do anything to stand out too much in the scrimmage. But, hey, it’s one scrimmage. Dismuke is the most physical of the three; Jackson is fluid when he changes direction. http://www.omaha.com/huskers/football/mckewon-husker-defensive-coordinator-mark-banker-wants-to-be-aggressive/article_847c666a-af93-5a09-a7b1-7144707fca82.html
  8. From Sam: A robust unit that could start five guys — Josh Banderas, Marcus Newby, Michael Rose-Ivey, Chris Weber and Dedrick Young — in a variety of combinations and still be tough. Because of Rose-Ivey’s knee strain, suffered on the first day of full pads, Newby and Young have worked together and looked fleet. Both are faster — Newby was already fast — and more instinctive in their reactions to the offense. Young wasn’t great on passing downs last year — whether it was rushing the passer or trying to cover in his zone — but he’ll be better at that this year. Banderas is headed for a 100-tackle season. And here’s the thing: Outside of that top five, NU could probably get by with playing Luke Gifford, Brad Simpson, Tyrin Ferguson and Mohamed Barry and not lose too much. That’s how developed the second- and third-team linebackers have become in a short time. And of the true freshman linebackers in Saturday’s scrimmage, Pernell Jefferson made a few nice plays. Position coach Trent Bray won’t be easy for Nebraska to retain in years to come. http://www.omaha.com/huskers/football/mckewon-husker-defensive-coordinator-mark-banker-wants-to-be-aggressive/article_847c666a-af93-5a09-a7b1-7144707fca82.html
  9. From Sam: The Huskers’ interior tackles could surprise — in a good way. At least in the scrimmage, the No. 1 tackles — Kevin Maurice and Gretna’s Mick Stoltenberg — more than held their own while the No. 2 tackles, Carlos Davis and senior Giltner walk-on Logan Rath, looked good, too. Khalil Davis was out with a knee strain. Those five, should they stay healthy, might be the interior rotation. You haven’t seen it yet, but the Davis twins have the potential to be excellent interior pass rushers. They’re quick off the ball and they can chase. http://www.omaha.com/huskers/football/mckewon-husker-defensive-coordinator-mark-banker-wants-to-be-aggressive/article_847c666a-af93-5a09-a7b1-7144707fca82.html
  10. From Sam: Among defensive ends, you’re going to get a lunch-pail approach from Ross Dzuris and flashes of major potential from Freedom Akinmoladun. He’ll get better — he’s getting better now — and he has some speed to chase a back laterally or down the field. None of their backups — A.J. Natter, Sedrick King, Alex Davis, Matt Jarzynka or DaiShon Neal — has significant experience. They didn’t jump out Saturday. Ben Stille and Collin Miller are headed for redshirts, but Stille, an Ashland-Greenwood grad, carries 240 pounds quite well on a 6-foot-5 frame. http://www.omaha.com/huskers/football/mckewon-husker-defensive-coordinator-mark-banker-wants-to-be-aggressive/article_847c666a-af93-5a09-a7b1-7144707fca82.html
  11. After a long day of traveling, this is sh**ty news to see upon arriving home. I don't know if he should be canned, but I can see the arguments both ways.
  12. Did Benning kill your dog or something? The hatred you have for him is unhealthy.
  13. Wow, I didn't know so much could be made out of a preseason coaches poll.
  14. For context, Obama's numbers among AAs: 2012 was 93/6 2008 was 95/4
  15. Foursquare Data Shows Trump’s Candidacy Is Hurting His Biz Empire But after he became Trump the presidential candidate, Foursquare found his properties didn’t see their usual seasonal boost and, by August 2015, the share of people hoofing it to all Trump properties was down 17 percent from the same period in 2014. After stabilizing to single-digit losses, the start of primary season primetime in March 2016 saw a 17 percent drop in share of people at Trump properties.
  16. They tried to do this after 2012. Here are 6 big takeaways from that report. And Trump blew it into shreds.
  17. There have been a lot of good Clinton polls yesterday/today for both national and state. Fox has +9 nationally Rasmussen (R leaning) has +4 nationally PA +11 MI +9 NH +15
  18. that guy's in high school? WTF??!! That guy is going to be a Jr in HS this year.
  19. Why? Because Ole Miss is dirty AF. Gebbia chose us over Ole Miss... Plus Ole Miss is looking at some probation in the next couple years.
  20. I don't like having to give juice... I'd take the under on Wisconsin Minnesota, both at even money. Michigan under 10.5 seems doable as well to me.
  21. I wouldn't mind seeing a road/white alternate this year. Or just wear 1971 throwbacks.
