  1. The GOP's fever hasn't broken yet so any hint of perceived moderation makes someone a detestable RINO. Yeah, that's it
  2. I'm pretty sure nobody can decipher what someone from the Louisiana swamps is saying
  3. This series has everything. Game 1 & 2 were wild ones, game 3 more of defensive grinder, and it's back to full tilt crazy again in game 4. I'm still pulling for Chicago but it's hard not to say Boston hasn't outplayed them, eapecially at the critical junctures of these games. I get the feeling that when push comes to shove, the Bruins will rise to the occasion. Might just be that they're currently on home ice though.
  4. Seems about like the person who once said: Yes. Drunk Driving is alive. People go to parties, drunk too much beer and drive drunk. I guess this is just one more reason to stay away from 16 oz red plastic SOLO cups. I never have understood the draw of it to begin with. Quit going to parties where beer is served in 16oz red plastic SOLO cups and you'll be subjected to a lot less comments that make you question humanity. There is not one thing I am missing in life by not going to these type of parties. I would highly recommend it. Afterall, the best way to stop racism and discrimination is to look the other way and avoid places where you might witness it first hand. Well stated. WTF are you babbling about? My comments were about the waste of time and energy that is Twitter. Nowhere did I indicated that ignoring the problem makes it go away. But if you're going to troll for racist comments on twitter, you're going to find plenty and it will give you a skewed sense of how pervasive the issue is. Might wanna stop by the mechanic and have em look at that thingy that controls comprehension.
  5. Do you mean "ALL" Mexican-Americans do this? I am aware that some do this but I would stop way short of the blanket statement you made. Having said that, I find it somewhat annoying also when some of these folks lean a little too hard that way. It's one thing to be proud of your heritage but it's another thing to put your current citizenship behind that of another country. I had an uncle who was way too enamored with his German heritage, that annoyed me too. I haven't lived in Nebraska in 11 years. When people ask me where I'm from, I still say Nebraska. What's the difference? Somebody asked you where you were from and you replied. (BTW- that is how I reply also.) I am failing to see how your example is in any way the same to what I said. It's quite a bit different going from the state level of things to the national level. We have neighborhoods where it is 10x more likely to see a Mexican flag in somebody's front yard than it is to see a US flag. Unfortunately, those same neighborhoods are run down slums and not someplace you want to be out walking after dark. Graffiti, drive-bys, bangers all over the place. I figure if a person wants to be proud of their heritage, fine, but be proud of it and do it justice. Don't create a crime laden cesspool around it and then act like you wish it was that way everywhere. It's anecdotal but I haven't seen Mexican flags flying in any nice neighborhoods around here. On another note- it is also about 10x more likely to see a Husker flag flying at a home here in Northern Colorado than it is to see any other college team. The thing is, if the Nebraska flags were all in one area and that area was an eyesore, then we might have some similarities to discuss.
  6. Thanks guys. That is the way I was leaning, just needed the confirmation. Going to the funeral on Friday. Not looking forward to it. I just hate those things but I suppose that is normal. It's one thing when it's a distant older relative but I really struggle with them when it's a young person who should be having many more years of life ahead of them.
  7. It's not that you're not right, it's just that this come-to-Jesus moment about the deficit for Conservatives conveniently happens during a Democrat's administration. Where was this call to arms when the deficit was exploding under Bush? It's all about politics, and that makes this hard to stomach. Fair enough. But, that doesn't change the facts of the basic problem we have. I won't claim to not be somewhat partisan although it really doesn't feel like a party issue anymore to me. Both sides suck and we have a deficit/debt/entitlement problem that needs to be fixed. Neither dems nor repubs are near as concerned about fixing that as they are about 1) hindering anything the other side wants to do and 2) getting elected and staying in power. The real issues of governing are completely foreign to all of them. Personally, I did not sense or feel economic problems until very late in Bush's term. I guess you could say I was fat, dumb, and happy until about years 2-3-4 of the Obama administration. That is when I began to get squeezed by the economy. Those were the worst 2-3 years my business has ever had. So, I guess you can claim it's just convenient to complain now with a different administration but, I really had nothing to complain about before so It's not just as simple as a party issue. I will say things started to straighten out for us last year and this year is looking really good. And yes, while Obama and the dems are in charge. Still doesn't change the fact that we have some stuff coming up in the future that could bite us all.
  8. Why of course you would. Sorry, but I'm going to have to protest this selection. Huntsman makes a bunch of dems look conservative. You might need to "stretch" a bit further to actually claim you are reaching outside your comfort zone.
  9. The projected deficit over the next 10 years, according to the REPUBLICAN Senate numbers that the article links to, projects either a 6.3 trillion or 7.0 trillion deficit in the next 10 years. If the article was fair and balanced it might read this way: "$4 trillion? Try $6.65 trillion, the average of the 2 estimates. That’s $6,650,000,000,000. Even the lowest, extremely conservative estimate comes in at $6.3 trillion; the highest is over $7 trillion." If the article overstates that GAP between WH and GOP estimated deficits by 4400% (that is 44 times more than the actual gap is) then the FACTUAL data should soften the statement below, since the challenge is 44 times less difficult that origninally assumed. UPDATE: Fiscal YTD number show a 26% reduction in the projected deficit this year. If those numbers hold, we would need a 4.X Trillion solution to stop the deficit. Yes, if you only look at the first ten year period of the GOP deficit projection, the apples to apples numbers are about $4T to $6T or $7T. the way the article presented the information is a little dishonest in that regard. However, I will stick by the statement that we face a stiffer challenge than what the CBO is predicting and what the Obama WH seems to be relying on. $4T up to $6.5T is still a huge increase and large difference. 163% or $2,500,000,000.00 machts nicht, I don't think those figures are anything to poo poo under the rug. I also still stand by the thought that these bozos in DC should be using a longer timeline than ten years. The anticipated Medicare increases and large numbers of new retirees will have a detrimental effect on the deficit and much of this starts being realized after that initial ten year window. If we know it's coming, why cut off projections at only ten years and use that partial information as a basis for spending more money than we have? A trillion dollars is almost impossible to comprehend. When you are looking at having to cut $4T or $7T or $100T, I do not believe you can start on that process soon enough. Those are just unfathomable numbers.
  10. I have no idea what Singletary was like in college but can't imagine he was more dominate than Rozier. Now pros..........that's a different deal.
  11. Luckily they'll have plenty of time to mull that over before there is any chance of it happening again.
  12. It wasn't that he thought he would lose him. Tom knew where he came from and thought the best thing for LP was to have the structure of the team to provide stability for him. TO did what he thought was best for LP even though he knew he would take heat for it. Unfortunately LP's problems were much more severe and involved that anyone could guess. It is too easy in hindsight to say what he should've done differently. I honestly believe Tom was only trying to help the kid out. Sometimes that'll backfire on you.
  13. You really should read Tom's book "More than Winning" to help understand how and why he handled the Phillips situation the way he did. We tend to agree, or at least not get crossways on many subjects but, it kind of pisses me off when people claim Tom brought him back to win games. Read the book- that's not what was going on.
  14. I would have to go with this list as well.
  15. I have a rather difficult question about a serious subject. The primary contact person, at our largest business customer, son was killed in a car accident. His son was 20 years old, only one year older than my son. I have worked with and for this guy for around 20 years. I hesitate to say we are "friends" because we do nothing together outside of work but, it is definitely more than a typical client relationship. We have shared many stories about our kids and followed the others sports careers etc. My problem is I don't know what is appropriate as far as sending something either personally or from my business as far as a sympathy card, flowers, etc. It's like I don't know him well enough on a personal level but it also seems exploitive to do it through my business. Plus, it is going to be extremely tough to address the subject in person. It hits way too close to home for me personally since that could've been my 19 year old son. The pain and loss is just unimaginable. Anybody have any suggestions as to what an appropriate response might be? I'm struggling with how to handle it.

  17. Yes, racism is still alive. It's bad enough when it targets an adult but seems much worse when directed at a young boy like this. I guess this is just one more reason to stay away from Twitter and tweets. I never have understood the draw of it to begin with. Ya know what? I don't care what somebody thinks or has to say about virtually anything unless they are speaking directly to me or in the context of something I care about (i.e. a thread/forum I am following on someplace like HB). This particular case is bad but I really have to wonder about people that get all upset over what some random a-hole said about some random event that really had nothing to do with them. Quit following Twitter and reading tweets and you'll be subjected to a lot less comments that make you question humanity. There is not one thing I am missing in life by not sending or reading tweets. I would highly recommend it.
  18. Boston is playing very solid in their D zone. Hawks can't seem to generate many opportunities and when they do get a shot Rask is a wall.
  19. If you're not a hockey fan, watch this Stanley Cup finals series and you will be. So far? Unbelievable.

  20. Bo, it'll be on NBC on Monday night at 7pm... Replays scheduled on NHL network on Sunday; Game 1, 11AM Game 2, 3PM
  21. If they keep this pace for the whole series, it'll definitely be the best series I've ever watched and that would include many from the Av's heydays. But, I'm not sure much more of this is humanely possible.
  22. Well deserved W. Already looking forward to a seven game series.
  23. Playoff hockey is awesome but these OT periods are insane. Wow.
  24. Boston deserves this game...... and I'm quietly pulling for Chicago
