  1. New first time head coaches at Nebraska in the last 50 years: Tom Osborne - .836 Frank Solich - .753 Bo Pelini - .713 New "experienced" coaches at Nebraska in the last 50 years: Bill Callahan - .551 Mike Riley - .417 Osborne was a longtime asst. Frank was a longtime asst, that failed when he ran out of Oz players Bo won mostly meaningless games Frost is just another risk with more downside right now than promise.
  2. The volleyball team has 25% of its players testing at an elite level - The win a National Championship The football team has 2% of its players testing at an elite level - Now where close to championship level as a team. Humm! lets shoot the messenger instead of discussing how we got here.
  3. I think it's obvious that anyone who has an axe to grind against the AD and coaching staff will read anything they can into it to make them look bad. Thus it was a pretty poor choice to call up the newspapers and ask them to come do a story on it. Unless that was what you wanted to happen all along. If that is how you want to look at it, fine. I read it differently because I don't hold the same opinions as some. I read the story and thought the same way BRB does in his comments a few posts ago. It doesn't have to always be more to it like some people on here think. Even other media guys and apparently those in the locker room were questioning the motives. So perhaps it's the people who don't want to believe a certain story line who are in the minority. Funny that all the faux uproar is over the motivation instead of the results of the tests. That says a lot about the people that want to misdirect the story away from the results and into a fog of crap
  4. You guys should really consider writing some of this down so we don't have to go over it again and again. No body with any brains thinks Scott is qualified to come here from Oregon. See what he can do elsewhere first.
  5. Scott Frost, as of yet, is not good enough to coach at Nebraska, Lets take another look in 4-6 years.
  6. Because the rest were not good enough. Time for the players to be held accountable and put in the work needed
  7. I trust Sam, but did he provide any context to support that statement? I'd have to re-listen (I was on a 5k run), so I don't remember his exact words. But basically, he was saying that it was surprising that they did it, and the way they did calling up the local media guys and giving them a tour and stuff. If you have time, give it a listen, because it was a pretty good episode. I like Sam, because he pulls no punches. Earlier in the season (after the Illinois loss I believe), he took Bo and Co to task earlier in the season for some of the mentality issues, and recruiting. This week, he basically said Riley coached Nebraska to a 5-7 "Oregon State" season, and he's going to have to change things. He said we shouldn't be in close games like we are, and it's partially due to his coaching philosophy. He said the assumption that people made with Riley being able to coach the same and have better results simply because of better players/facilities/support/etc is wrong. He said he agreed with most of what Epley said. I don't know why it is a perceived sin that the Athletic dept is putting information they deem important and of interest to the fans.
  8. The culture change will be finalized when the current players that do not fit or do not buy in are flushed from the program. Can't happen soon enough, so we can move on with fixing the program.
  9. Got it exactly right, the rest of, (who put it out and why) is a side show of distraction by those that want to keep the false narrative that it is a coaching failure when it is a personnel failure that the current staff is trying to fix.
  10. If he failed a drug test and had used up is chances, he is gone! right now. If the coach has a rule, it has to be firm and clear to the rest of the team that the same will happen to them if they break said rule. Its all about deterrent.
  11. I better get them a change of address card, where the hell have my checks been going?
  12. Already reported on the board last week. old news
  13. Josh Peterson ‏@joshtweeterson .@NateClouse on Patrick O’Brien: “He’s the most polished QB to come to Nebraska in 10-15 years.” #Huskers He is basically a five-tool player. Has the size, arm and mental capacity, reads defenses well. One of those players who is coming as ready as any player can be. Thinks he can make a run at the starting QB job. He has the tools and mental capacity to do it.
  14. POB seems to have the mental makeup to be a starter from listening to his interviews. Very sharp kid.
  15. This^ The truth is Riley cost Nebraska at least 3 more wins this year through bad coaching and not just talent. Is the talent championship caliber? Probably not, buuuut they did beat Michigan St...so No "probably" about it, we do not have Championship caliber talent, that is what we strive for. Bo could not do it, give Riley a chance to recruit and mold that talent into a championship level team instead of bitching that he could not get it done with obviously inferior talent.Inferior to who?BYU? Nope. Miami? Maybe. Illinois? Nope. Wisconsin? Not this year. Northwestern? Nope. Purdue? Nope. Iowa? Nope. Hmm. Equal or lesser talent, yup. Where we were equal, our players were mentally inferior and that is why we lost. Michigan St had better players any yet we wanted it more or mentally superior in that game.
  16. I only hope POB puts a little fear in Tommy, he will either buckle down or wash out. Tommy is a competitor and a little fear may just make him better.
  17. Husker fans bitched, whined, complained and begged for Ozborne to throw the ball more. Now the most knowledgeable fans in college football want Nebraska to run the ball more. Just goes to show that there are more stupid Nebraska fans than knowledgeable fans. Plenty post here. I'm about fed up with your ass kissing Riley at all costs BS. I, and most posters hereabouts, can acknowledge both sides of the coin. Yes, Tommy and some of the players had their shortcomings but, if you can't see where Langsdorf and Riley and Banker also failed with game management and play calling issues, you might need to re-watch our games and get a little smarter yourself. Your shtick is getting old. It took 9 games for the players to buy in, when they did, Nebraska played pretty well. The coaches did the best they could until that happened. I get plenty tired of the Nebraska staff and administration haters like you. To bad you don't like the team you claim to be a fan of instead of spewing hate and discontent about them. Well, that shows what you know......not much. I like Riley. I like Langsdorf. I like Eichorst. I don't hate them. But I don't blindly worship every step they take and I can recognize the mistakes they made. What's your excuse? Don't need an excuse, I see the progress they have made with the talent they have had to work with. The bitchers like you and others I have no use for. If they have failed in 4 years, then I will be there to hold their feet to the fire. I will not call for them to be fired after 3 games like many of the dolts that post here. I put about 20 on my ignore list for that very thing. They never gave the new staff a chance. Many weren't going to be happy with the Riley hire regardless. That ain't me. I was excited to see what they could do and I wanted to give them a couple years to prove it on the field. But yeah, my time line got severely shortened when I saw some of the stupid things they did that had absolutely nothing to do with "player buy in" or "existing skill level" or "having their guys". You don't need those things to call a f'ing run play at the right time. You don't need those things to manage the clock. Fact is, there is a reason this staff is flirting around .500 for their career. I didn't want to believe that but I watched what they did this year. It ain't going to change. I am fully convinced of that. When you've been coaching that long and can't grind out the clock, are afraid to call a run play on 3rd and 2 in a 4 down situation, actually get worse on penalties than Pelini's teams, well there is a problem that player buy in won't fix. If it took the players 9 games to "buy in", and that's what your prefacing your whole theory on, then please explain what happened in that Iowa game. Iowa was a solid, steady team but they sure as hell aren't any top 5 juggernaut. Sure Tommy screwed the pooch in that game and that didn't help. So your position is to call people, who hold the staff responsible for their mistakes, haters and claim we don't like this team? While you throw player after player under the bus and walk around with your head up your ass when it comes to the mistakes the coaches obviously made? That's pure bullsh!t. You go ahead and give em 4 years. I'll tell ya right now, they aren't going to last that long unless there are a lot more people like you, in positions that matter, that will completely ignore how they contributed to about 5 of those 7 losses. I pretty much cleared out my ignore list but I guess I've got one to add to it from the othe sidea of the fence. It is the perfect device for people that don't know what the f#*k they're talking about. You'll fit nicely. I hope you get help with your anger issues and disillusional thinking, please put me on ignore

Haha, if there's any bitching it's because he could only muster 5 wins due to bad coaching. Asking him to win a championship his first year is kinda ridiculous don't you think? Why, yes I do.
  19. Interesting that the football team has 120 players and the volleyball team has 16 players and both had 3 players reach 1800 points. Kind of embarrassing how far the football program had fallen in 7 years.

  21. Any way you slice it, it's hard to get past this point. not really if you look at the base problem like Boyd has done.
  22. Poor talent in the O-line has been a problem for several years, . Riley is working to fix that and I think Cav can get the most out of the young guys we have.
  23. Do you think apathy is another? Hard to believe there isn't at least 7000 Nebraska fans in Cali that could get there logistically. Could be the want to that is lacking. Fans can buy tickets cheaper on the open market, there will be plenty more than 2700 but traveling over Christmas will hold down the crowd.
  24. No, I expect better, he has better resources and more money and facilities. He should get a hands off - 4 years to coach and recruit, then we shall see.
  25. The coaching staff is focused on winning,I hope the players are to. A would be a nice spring board into spring ball.
