  1. you know, its funny how someone from the outside can come in here and start talking smack about how its a no win game playing NU. dude if you are scared say you're scared. hey isnt lloyd one of the dumb and dumber guys? i personally believe that NU is going to the holiday bowl and all of this talk about iowa or michagan is just that...talk. if NU goes to the Alamo bowl then bring on either, matter of fact bring on both of them and NU will play them in back to back weeks. Hell bring on the whole confrence. nobody gave NU a chance against CU, now no one thinks that NU would beat UM. that is why you play the games. everyone thought that VT would beat FSU....Not everyone thought that LSU would beat Georgia.....Not we will find out in just a little while who NU is playing and where then let the talk really begin
  2. i think that it would make this team feel like the win that asu had over nebraska after we won what 26 straight. took that team right to an undefeated season until they got beat in the rose bowl
  3. there is still a chance that Oregon will get a BCS birth. i think that they were 8th in the polls before LSU and VT got beat. with the big 10, pac 10, big 12, sec, acc, and big east getting automatic bids that only leaves 2 at large bids. ND is most likely going to get one of those largely because of the fan following even though they have 2 loses and will leave out OSU or Oregon. and since the Ducks are 10-1 IMO they are in and that puts UCLA in the Holiday bowl. since Oklahoma played UCLA before that sends NU to the Holiday bowl even though the Holiday bowl has usually invited the loser of the Big 12 Champ game. everyone knows that sCUm is not going to an upper tier bowl with them losing bad 3 games in a row and scoring only 6 points compared to the 100 that NU and TU put up on them. so my prediction before the matchups come out today is OU vs IU/MU in the Alamo and NU vs UCLA/Oregon but we find out today GBR RTO
  4. unbelievable, i actually thought that sCUm had a better chance in this game because they had already played TU earlier in the year. i hope that TU beats USC and i think that they will because TU actually has a defense that can stop USC offense. to bad for Vince Young and maybe NU because Bush is going to win the Heisman this year (260 yards rushing on 24 carries). now VY will probably come back for his senior year. way to go mack you should have played VY the whole game because Bush played well into the 4th qtr.
  5. nameless, can you send me the numbers for the powerball for wednesday. with your ability to see the future i could win millions. then i could start a thread that could keep people out of it that had nothing to say other than bashing what is going on in the NU camp. but then again what fun would that be, we all need something to laugh about. remember laughter is one of the best hidden medicens in the world. we also need to get our blood pressure up from time to time also. so these guys are actually doing us a favor. so guys, you know who you are, keep it coming i actually like reading your posts. sometimes you piss me off and make me want to throw something at my computer (raise my blood preasure) and sometimes you make me wonder if you realize how silly you actually sound (make me laugh). you never know what these guys will say next. GBR RTO
  6. i sure hope that he stays, a definite captian of the team next year, and his leadership will be important to the younger guys next year. with octavian, stewart, and mckeon all coming back i hope NU can get the secondary going right away and NU should have a top 10 defense. as long as they stay away from the 3-4
  7. if he does move to the offense, i see him being used more like a flanker like fryer and rogers and on kick returns. both him and lucky back for kickreturns with both of their speed could be an awesome combonation
  8. just for informational purposes, David Humm was drafted and played QB for the raiders for one, not sure who else but i remember him playing for them. jamal lord was a back up to crouch, remember when NU played ND and one of our fans had a sign that said "Hey Notre Dame, the Lord is a Husker and he is second string"? i believe any system will work if you have the right coaches and right players in place to run them. the spead offense was not working to T.O. liking so he switched to the option. Callihan would never be able to coach the option especially with Norvell as OC, so he will never try. i will say this again, the passing game is a lot better this year with the right player in place to throw the ball. taylor is much better then dailey was. yes the running game is worse but look at the players that returned this year that started last year (2) mann and koch. so this years line was very inexperienced. next year should be better with murtha, austin, mann, patrick, slausen and possibly thomas all coming back. add in the pasture boys and the new recruits gaining some experience i cant believe that they wont be alot better GBR
  9. you are probably right. i didnt know that a HC in the pro's make that much money probably because i dont follow pro sports anymore. i will check from time to time how ex-huskers are doing but that is it. i cant understand why athletes that make millions and millions of dollars to play a game, go on strike because they do not make enough money. it is pathatic. free agents have kill the game also. back in the day you could look at the back of a sports card and see that a player stayed in one place most of his career if not all. now if a player stays in one place more then 4 years it is almost a freak of nature. but then again what do i know i am just some poor sap that works 60 hrs a week and will never make in my lifetime what some of these players get in signing bonuses alone
  10. i dont know why any big school college coach would want to go back to coaching in the pro's. the money that they make is close to what coaches are getting paid in the pro's with better job security and less headaches dealing with athletes like T.O., the Vikings love boat scandle ect. but what do i know
  11. does any one remember the offense that hawaii ran years ago, 2 slots, 2 wide outs and 1 back. would be nice to get all 3 of them in the game at the same time. i know hawaii was not that good with that offense but it was fun to watch when they were on. i was in hawaii when ND came over and played, and ND was leading big at halftime, but the rainbow warriors used that offense and made it a 4 qtr game and had they not fumbled with 1 min remaining hawaii would have won the game. anyway i would like to see them all get in the game.
  12. in my opinion, and i am not an expert by any means, a perfect game means that the team has very few mental breakdowns, takes the lead early and keeps it, dominates the entire game. no team will play the perfect game every game. the last 3 years USC has won all of the games they have played but they have struggled in alot of them. but you are right they kept themselves in a position to win each of them by having the right players playing in the right system and having experienced players. yes they have a perfect record but they have not played perfect games. they need to be thankful that their offense can score so many points because the defense sure isnt doing them any justice. i would like to see what the defensive rating for the teams that they beat this year. does any of them rank in the top 10?
  13. formerfan, what would you think of calli's ability if the 4 non-confrence opponents next year were Akron, Rice, Temple and New Mexico St. and NU starts off the season 4-0? All of them are Div 1 schools. let me answer for you. if NU struggles to win against any of them you will say "see i have been telling you all along, Calli is not the right man he sucks, he cant even get his team ready to play against lower tier Div 1 schools that dont even belong in Div 1" now on the other hand if NU thrashes each of them by 30 points you would probably say "wow Calli should get extra bonus points for beating such teams so badly, they dont even belong in Div 1" am i close, tell us what would you really say? it is o.k., you can tell us most of us already know but we still would like to hear it from the source
  14. can you honestly think that any team, college or pro, will play the perfect game week in and week out? if you do then you must be living with your head in the sand. who was the last team to dominate every game all year long? look at the 95 NC team, yes they won all of the games and scored alot of points against most teams, but there were a couple of times that NU did come out flat and had to struggle but had the talent and experience to get the win. the very next year with a new QB not ready to run the system in place loses to ASU 19-0. look at USC this year great offensive system in place and have won all of there games but has struggled to win in alot of them. most recently Fresno St. if not for reggie bush putting up 500 yrds of total offense USC loses. NU this year is a young team and can get their confidence hurt fairly easily, just look at what happened at MU after nunn fumbled deep in MU territory. the defense comes back on the field and and MU drives for a touch down. what about kansas when Marlon Lucky streaks 103 yards on a KO return for a touch down that gets called back for a penalty and the offense goes 3 and out. both of those games could have very easily been wins but after each of those plays you could see the confidence leave on boht offense and defense. lets get more consistant games, and i think that we will, next year. with 29 returning players that either started or had significant playing time coming back, next years team will play more consistantly and with more confidence. i see NU going 8-4 with a possibility of 10-2, there are a couple of tough games with tough locations to play, but that is why you play the games and not just write them off as losses, (15 point dogs to CU but win by 27) GBR
  15. NU will go to the Alamo Bowl or the Holiday Bowl so which ever chooses OU then the other is taking NU as long as CU does not beat TU. Now if TU loses then the Huston on Independence bowl's are probably where NU will end up. Me personally I would rather NU go to the Alamo Bowl because San Antonio is closer. Anyway GoFrogs what makes you think that your team will beat NU in the first place.
  16. i personally do not have a problem with anyone coming in here and talking about problems that they see with the team, coaching staff, AD ect. but what i would like to see is if you see a problem dont bitch about it have an idea that might solve the problem. example: if you think Callahan is not the right coach dont say fire him give an idea of why and who would be the best replacement then we as a group can discuss your ideas also GBR
  17. chucked do you really think that these people who continually spew negativity will actually ever change. it is my bet that if they would been on board back when T.O. retired and Frank took over they were probably complaining and wanted Frank to be fired. Then when he was fired they changed their log on name and started this campaign of negativity towards the current staff. now i believe that they a quietly hopeing that the team fails so BC gets fired then they will change their names again and start b*tching that BC got hosed because he was turning the team around and should have been given more time. some people are only happy when they are b*tching GBR Restore the Order
  18. wow when i started this post i dint think that it would stretch out to 2 pages of such differing opinions. i am glad that everyone has taken the time to put their input out there for others to agree with or to disagree with. that is what makes this team, this state, and this country great. those of you who continue to complain about the state of the husker nation by all means continue to voice your complaints we all need to get our blood pressure up from time to time. but i hope that all of us no matter how we feel about the coaching staff et al that we all continue to support the team and those playing for the team. i hope that none of you actually hope that the team loses just so the coaching staff and/or the athletic director gets fired. always remember that win we get cut we bleed HUSKER RED GBR ------ RESTORE THE ORDER
  19. anyone who choses to get behind the wheel after they have been drinking is stupid. and anyone who is caught drinking and driving have done it before and got away with it. i have no sympathy for anyone who gets arrested for DUI, i look at it this way. that person put my family, your family, and everybody elses family at risk. frank should be thankful that he did not hurt or kill some one, because if he was found slumped over the steering wheel and could not open the door then he must have been really trashed. this was not the first time that he has driven after drinking. this might have been the first time he was caught but he has driven while intoxicated in the past. he recieved a fairly light punishment IMO, but according to the news article it was a standard punishment for first timers. i am glad to see that he was not given a light sentence or a heavy sentence just because of his position of HC and being a public figure. and yes i would feel the same way if BC or any of the current staff was to get in trouble for the same offense. to many innocent people are killed each year needlessly by drunk drivers i hope and pray that frank learns from this and seeks the help that he needs, and he will be able to overcome this.
  20. i dont think that carricker is going to leave. he is a true team player and wants this team to turn things around plus if he leaves now he will be a late 2nd round early 3 round choice if he comes back for another year he should be 1st rounder
  21. did T.O. run the same offense all of the years as HC? No..he took over a run pass balanced offense and he continued to run that offense and slowly brought in the option offense once he got the players he wanted for his offense. B.C. came in and total changed the system, now he did not go 9-3 in his first or 2nd yrs but this team is improving. even Zateska thinks that BC needs 3-5 years to get things going, and he sees this team heading in the right direction.
  22. I read in the LJS today that the directors of the Alamo Bowl and Holiday Bowl are looking at both OU and NU to represent the Big 12. if that is the case then if NU goes to the Alamo bowl they will play either Iowa or Michigan. If NU goes to the Holiday Bowl then they will play either Oregon or USC if USC loses to UCLA on saturday
  23. i wonder if they are married or if they even have significant others in their life. with all of the negativity they keep spewing how could anyone hang around them for very long. i wonder if they get the bitter beer face every time something good happens with this team? i bet that when they saw the t-shirts that said "RESTORE THE ORDER" they thought that Bill Byrne came back as AD and fired BC and brought back Frank. but i do reading some of their posts, everyone needs a good laugh from time to time
  24. well formerfan, now that you are back with us tell us, Do you still think that this team has not shown any improvement and Calli does not deserve more time to implement his system? GBR-------Restore the Order
  25. i read an interview with him in LJS or OWH and the reporter asked if he was going to be more cautious when running the ball after the hit he took against KSU. he replied "if the team needs me to get an extra yard i am going to try to get the extra yard" did anyone see him slide to avoid a hit on friday? i dont remember if he did but i do remember him puttint his head down trying to get the first down on a couple of scrambles. did anyone notice the CU players trying to put thier shoulders or helmet to Zac's helmet. maybe i was looking at things harder then i should but it sure seemed that way to me GBR-------Restore the Order
