  1. of course it’s relevant. We were discussing the court delays in this case. The point is that these continuances are routine and almost automatic. The prosecutor probably didn’t object. He or she could have. 90% of cases drag along for many months into years in the courts, particularly in the larger towns/cities. In the end, a plea bargain happens and not a trial on the merits. Sometimes that results in some sort of ‘just’ result in a practical manner but often, from the view of people outside the system, the outcome looks unjust. Defendants fear they won’t get a ‘fair’ trial while prosecutors would like to get the case over with, whether or not the result is the one they believe is appropriate. Imo too many defendants plead guilty to lesser charge even though they they don’t truly feel they are guilty. What MJ believes is right or wrong may not be the outcome he receives.
  2. Sorry u didn’t understand. It is not really all that complicated. It is not about this case particularly- just the general process.
  3. Prosecutors do stall the proceedings to get time served before a conviction too! This is unjust. The right to speedy fair trial and right to counsel are abused (almost ignored) imo. The bail rules need to be adjusted to assure a speedy process (6 months from arrest day) or release pending trial. 12 months is too long but some cases go years.
  4. Not all #25 rated classes are equally talented. There are some 4 star guys who are much better than others. Imo, the recruit ratings are at best only a good start in selecting recruits for your program. They may be helpful or may not be. And as I’ve mentioned several times, the class ranks need to be based on all positions proportionately. 25 - four star WR, QB and RB recruits would get you a top ten rank but a bottom ten team. Imo, this was Frost’s downfall or mistake in recruiting. Too many WRs, RBs, DBs etc and not nearly enough linemen and LBs. Although he recruited plenty of QBs, it appeared he never really believed he needed more than one. If you don’t intend to ever play someone, why recruit them?
  5. Likely another ho hum season. Not sure why but baseball seems to be that kind of game. It takes great pitching and decent hitting and good fielding play to be a better than average team, record wise. It’s hard to recruit locally and compete regionally, let alone nationally. Very few guys within the area. Without some way to attract better players, this is the plight of NU baseball. It’s a pastime like many other activities. Hard to get too passionate about a pastime. It’s just baseball.
  6. When we had a decent run game complement, our passing was better. The bottom line was the mix of plays couple with weak blocking led to mediocre offense. Game management was not good either. Essentially weak coaching, especially under Frost. Top 40 talent, overall, but bottom 40 team results. Let’s hope we get top 25 talent and results. That would help. A few years of that and maybe we get to top 15 on both. It takes time to claw your way up to top ten. Better program. Better outcomes. Championships are the goal but competitive teams can happen in the meantime.
  7. Who’s the most loved? There is only one. Big Red!
  8. Kirk F coaching many many years. At Iowa. Rhule is a new hire at a struggling school two months after being fired for poor coaching. Getting 80 or 90% of what he was is, imo, amazingly high. Many coaches who have more winning seasons and better schools/teams on their resumes get less. I think Carolina is lucky Neb was there. A handful of college jobs might be somewhat comparable to an NFL job but darn few. Bama. USC, ND, MI, GA ? Neb maybe 20 years ago would have been a top tier - maybe. Imo. Most coaches would say NFL jobs are a couple steps up from the best colleges.
  9. #48 is a big jump from where we’ve been the past 5 years isn’t it?
  10. Weaker. LA Tech , NI. 2 wins Very Strong. MI. 1 loss Fairly Competitive. Rest are toss up types. Probably win half maybe barring injuries or a general first year struggle. Wins = 6-7. Losses 5-6. Bowl. Toss up. Final tally range = 6 - 8 wins, 5-7 losses. Team strengths: athletic. Speed in the speed positions. Some experience in some positions. New systems give NU a slight advantage vs early opponents. Team weaknesses: many young, inexperienced guys so depth is limited. Likely starting 4-6 freshmen / transfers for their first years. New systems may be hard to master for younger guys. Execution errors expected. New staff is also first season in Big Ten vs very experienced coaches and players.
  11. Mud wrestling. ? Jello? Double the volleyball with a separate beach team. Easily add walkons to all the sports.
  12. Just great stuff Rhule has hired some “A” guys and this one is one of them surely. He nails it imo. Thoughtful. Knowledgeable. Smart. Systematic. Hope he gets the guys to listen and learn. The weights and drills don’t do the work - each man does. But, it sure seems Coach C knows his stuff. He seems like a guy young athletes will follow. GBR - Husker Power!
  13. Just speculation. We’ve been at 145 ish for years. Add a few to the women’s’ teams and ‘balance’ is restored, if it is much out of whack? Right now we are 135?
  14. I don’t see any reason for a transfer before end of spring of course. If any were wanting to, they already would have. And we don’t know if Raiola is N or not. If not, the future wide open for several of these guys. Sims is the new guy, once Casey leaves in 10 months. Logan is N for life it seems - that’s his dream apparently. He is still somewhere in the mix if injuries happen (as has been the case nearly every season since Logan was born). Both Sims and CT have a clear history as does even Logan. There may be other QBs in the mix by fall - we don’t know. If Dylan R goes elsewhere, the race is wide open certainly. Someone(s) may leave but who? Torres has skills. HH as well. Purdy was in the hunt as well. They all are competitors. We shall enjoy watching the process unfold, hopefully. It seems likely one or two will be worthy.
  15. I’d like to think this but just can’t. NU fans seem to think Raiola will magically transform our .500 team into a champion type team. If he could run like Frazier and throw like Brady, he’d make the current team a contender for Big Ten champs. I haven’t seen that run ability at all. Not sure about his passing bc I haven’t seen enough film. Highlights show the good plays basically. He has impressed a lot of folks to be rated as high as he is so I give him due credit. But the expectations in Lincoln are off the charts high from every comment I’ve seen. I am hopeful but will wait to see the real thing. I’m more excited about other recruits than Raiola certainly.
  16. Raiola may be wise to avoid Neb. He can’t possibly meet the expectations for some. His first incomplete pass will be grounds for a lynch mob to form. I hope he’s half as good as some believe.
  17. Yes, he needs to put teams on the field. He is showing that he knows what it takes to build a team by finding the kinds of players NU needs. That’s half the battle imo. . A good team MUST have a good set of players that fit the system and fit a system that fits the Big Ten. He can’t fix all that needed fixing in a few months. Be lucky to get half way there in year 1.
  18. Hopefully we see that all the time. Offense ought to tap to signal they got the play and snap count and know what they are to do and then actually do it.
  19. Welcome. Great athlete no doubt. ExCtly what the WR rooms needs. What a collection of talent Rhule is putting together. 2-3 years could have the best skill position guys in the nation. They get these young O line rebuilt by then and watch out. !
  20. Yes. 35 were mediocre or not even rated types. Just 18 of 53 were 4 or 5 stars. 3 star players are practically dismissed as depth builders and projects. 2 star guys area waste of scholarships and unrated walkons are practically trash to some.
  21. Somebody with the time and expertise maybe could figure the returning roster player ratings numbers. And then the 2023 adds. We have a few to leave at some point, unless they go NIL to get our 85 limit by fall. That might give a rough talent pool change with all the changes. And even more useful may be to break them out by position groups. I don’t weight the ratings as valuable as most seem to but it would be interesting to see how our positions vary. And if the gurus do this, by team, one could have something besides the general ‘eye test’ measurement to judge teams and schedules and coaches by.
  22. Let the coaches recruit. If he commits and recruits as per the coaches, great. He fits the Rhuler. Get him.
  23. Both shows were well done. Not new info but nicely condensed and compiled into a listenable place. Thanks.
