  1. What level do you coach at.... Probably the same as you. Seeing as this is a message board, 95 percent of the posters are not involved in coaching and are just fans who want to see this team do well. If I was bashing a coach who had success this year or in general, I could see your comment having some merit. But since you are probably some division one coach, lets hear your actual insight. And next time use a question mark, those periods make you look like a junior high girl texting her bff.Nope just a fan. You are bashing a coach that had success. Typically when you see a good run defense you think line and when you see a good pass defense you think DB's - now we know it takes both, however I would say that our run defense was pretty good this year compared to the guy that new how to defend against the run last year. It's not perfect however headed in the correct direction.Headed in the right direction? After one year which had its ups and downs, it is tough to determine the direction of the defense and the d-line. How many sacks did the defensive line have? How much pressure did they get on the QB? Did defenses pass more than they ran against us due to our deficiencies in that area? It is too early to know, and people can easily use the "these are pelini's recruits" argument, but I am more concerned with recruiting, not on-field production. It's tough to stop the run when you don't have any big bodies. It's about the Jimmies and the Joes. You can have the best system in place but if you don't have the players what are you supposed to do? The DE and OT position groups are laughable how is that Rileys fault?
  2. Not saying that. My question is what is it (or isn't it) about this particular athlete that has so many Div 1 coaches uninterested? Plays in the largest classification; is in a position of need; seems to have the size and athletic ability; Set loads of season and career records. ????? There has been plenty of QBs that have come through and broken records in high school. Silas Fluellen for example and he ended up going to Wayne and was a nice player at the division II level. He even had a brother that played for NU, it's just how it goes.
  3. I think the problem goes more into the offensive line than the RB group. Gates was a stud and Reeves and Lewis were above average but when I watched games our guards were lucky to be average at best.
  4. This is pretty spot on. ^^^^ Even McDermott said this Creighton team needed a win last night more than any other team he has had. And, they showed up with the attitude and drilled it. Again, unfortunately, Nebraska did not. It's got to be mostly mental now. Creighton expects to win and they shot the ball expecting it to go in. Nebraska was tentative and acted like it had little confidence in making shots. Have to wait another year now, but Miles needs to get his teams to play with a lot more confidence. Would like to get your guys opinion on fouling with 30 seconds to go down 17?
  5. That's from the last time in Omaha except you have the scores turned around IIRC, both Nebraska and Creighton made the NCAA tournament that year, so even if that happens I think both of us would be okay with it should the same end result hold. I think both teams are a year away. If Nebraska is going to get a win this would have to be the year. Because next year Creighton is going to be taking a big step forward with two studs they have redshirting this year and not really losing anyone from this year's team. Funny you say that. I see NU winning 3 of the next 4 with the guys that we have just added...... Still feel that way?? That's funny you ask that - get back to me the morning after their next meeting and I can give you a solid answer - but to answer your question I still think i'm 50/50 good on my statement. Miles will never beat McDermott...He gets outcoached every time and it's fairly evident
  6. I hate Creighton more than the devil himself, but he was. He is a below average pro, but he was the best college basketball player. No, he wasn't. He wouldn't have even started at Kentucky or North Carolina that season. He would have been the 8th or 9th best player at Kentucky. Now you're just talking silly. The dude was a beast at the college level and would have easily started for either team.

  8. 1b,1a(but likely wouldn't have to choose as I'm pretty sure I could get a threesome with the two),5,4,6,3 Prolly wouldn't take much convincing down there. Have heard really "good" things about going to school down there
  9. it averages about 5 degrees cooler here than columbia....that is a good thing during those August 2 a days. They call it Mizzery for a reason!

  12. I wouldn't say I hate Nebraska I used to be able to cheer for them. Tim Miles just comes off as a straight douche I don't know about a douche but I think his "act" is just that, a bit of an act...the nerdy sound bite guy... I also think he made a horrible hire when he brought in that old dude. I'll never forget the spring game he was interviews after being hired and hearing him say I like this "Rex Burkhart player." Even if it's an act I'm not sure how Nebrasketball fans can put up with it. Ha! I don't remember that! Miles is smart...he knew exactly how to embrace the fans and it has been working for him. That very lucky run he had to make the dance bought him major time and major goodwill. But like you, something about him is odd... He apparently likes "getting around" When you say "getting around" you saying we have another Carl/Frank situation?

  14. On what basis do you think Creighton is going to struggle this year? Just curious Well...I think that in conference they will start to feel the lack of athletic players hurt them. I don't think they have the shooters they had in the past. I think the home court advantage is not as big of a deal anymore. I am not a Jay fan or a Husker basketball fan but I am not saying I think they will struggle because I am not a fan of the team. Have you watched them play? They have much more athleticism than they have had the past couple years. Lets be honest who in the country ever has two shooters like McDermott and Wragge. It's tough to win on the road anywhere in college basketball so as far as home court advantage I'd have to disagree on that.

  17. I would take him in a second. He is super hard working, has great quickness, and the d-line position is so important in the NFL. It also depends where my team had their draft pick in the first round. I think Collins has good value in the 20-40 range. I know he was double teamed most of the year and didn't get any help from his ends. For a DT to go in the first round he has to absolutely be dominant at the college level and you just didn't see that out of him this year.
  18. For any of you guys....would you want your NFL team to use a 1st rounder on Maliek? Not sure I would
  19. Didn't Callahan V.1 show that a pass happy, West coast style offense not fit I Lincoln? Looks like Callahan V.2 is doubling down on the stupid. It wasn't Callahan's offense that got him fired. One of the great fallacies is that Callahan ran an effective offense. More times than not, it was offensive failures that led to defensive blow ups. Sound familiar? Look at the Purdue game this year.Great point. The offense did little in 2007 losses to Missouri, Okie State, and Texas A&M. It wasn't until he decided to pad his stats that the Callahan offense looked "great". It's strange how it's always the same that trash every coach. Prolly called for TO's head a time or two as well. Maybe we should hire you guys and see what type of offensive and defense you would run. "In my grandpas voice" We have to get back to the option game if we want to win. Give it to the fullback 15 times a game. A forward pass wtf is that??
  20. I long for the days when 9-3 is "coming back to earth". I think you're going to really see them struggle next year without Adams. I think that was another reason why Frost bailed when he did.
  21. I wouldn't exactly say the Jays are tumbling. The Cole Huff injury defiantly hurts on the offensive side but will be an upgrade defensively. Geoffrey Groselle has been a beast on the block both offensively and defensively at protecting the rim. The way the huskers can expose that if you have a 5 that can shoot it. That pulls him from the hoop and he isn't the best athlete to get back to the basket. Khyri Thomas is defiantly an X factor for the Jays, he's the stopper on the defensive side and should be able to hold Shields or White down with whoever he guards. This game will come down to Isaiah Zierden IMO. If he's hitting threes I think Nebraska is in for a long night, but if he's cold as he was in the Loyola game it'll prolly be a dogfight and the game will come down to free throws which the Jays have struggled with so far. Jays 72 Huskers 61
  22. way too much sh#t to fix......7-5 would be about right. So if Nebraska had C.J. Beathard this year at QB what do you think NU's record is? I'm saying we are playing the the B1G championship game instead of Iowa Fix the QB and you fix this team
  23. Hard to think what he's waiting on...I know he's already decommitted once from another school but seems like we should have wrapped him up by now
  24. Looks like a pretty good athlete with good touch! Hard to tell what kind of zip he has on the ball.
