  1. wants to go closer to home, being forced out, or looking for more PT?
  2. http://www.omaha.com/huskers/mens-basketball/barfknecht-tim-miles-has-improved-huskers-and-the-administration-should/article_2a78dbb4-f8af-11e6-a8de-1300d58dcdf8.html "It’s time to end the needless and often reckless speculation about Nebraska basketball coach Tim Miles’ job status, and not just because the Huskers are on a two-game winning streak. Based on the evidence, only a damn fool would deny Miles a sixth season now — which, of course, hardly precludes it from happening. I asked NU Athletic Director Shawn Eichorst if he wanted to take the topic off the table by saying Miles will be back. Eichorst declined. Two key things to consider in a potential coaching change are talent (on hand and in the pipeline) and public interest in the program. If recruiting rankings are your thing, Nebraska is set to have nine players on next season’s roster who were ranked on someone’s national Top 150 list coming out of high school. I prefer two other tests: what my eyes tell me and who else seriously wanted a recruit."
  3. this guy has been trolling the football and men's basketball boards extremely hard since joining. He will be joining The Big Nebrowski very very soon.
  4. yeah I never said Miles should be fired before next year
  5. Mavric how long are we planning on letting this jabroni stay on here?
  6. I know this season is still going on but wanted to start this thread since I think it is pretty interesting discussion: Starting 5: 1. Watson (6'0 174) 2. Palmer (6'6 213) 3. Roby (6'8 214) 4. Morrow (6'7 234) 5. Tshimanga (6'11 275) Rotation guys: Guards: Taylor (6'5 206) Gill (6'3 195) Wings: Horne (6'7 222) McVeigh (6'8 215) Bigs: Copeland (6'9 220) Jacobson (6'9 239) Quick observations: - I know that Akenten is supposed to be a dead eye shooter but man it is going to be tough for him to crack the rotation IMO. I think if he is going to take minutes from anyone, it is going to be Gill or McVeigh as I wasn't all that impressed with Gill when he was a part of the rotation this year and McVeigh has yet to show he can be consistent enough to count on in a night in night out basis. - I don't know that Fuller will be back here next year despite having a year left to play. I would think Miles would encourage him to Graduate Transfer and pursue signing another ball handler or a wing that could also play as a stretch big if needed (Edward Chang- looking at you). - I really really think we need to find another ball handler to come off the bench. We will finally have enough size to truly compete in this conference but I worry that we won't have anyone besides Watson to bring the ball up the floor. (Taylor? Gill?) - I'm looking for a big jump from Isaiah Roby both physically and mentally. We need this kid to step it up. - I think Horne also has potential to be a really really special player if he figures it out and becomes more consistent. - Not sure what to expect from Palmer but he has the size and is supposedly a knock down 3 point shooter. We really need that. - Hopefully Copeland can play the full season. - I don't know what to do with our bigs. Jacobson probably helps us spread the floor better but Tshimanga makes us a much better rebounding team/bigger. Curious to see which direction Miles goes. Overall, I think this team could be really special. This has the look and feel of a NCAA tournament type team. If Tim fails to make the dance with this bunch, I think it is probably safe to say he will be on his way out.
  7. Also- one more thing to add: I'm all for this team adding length. This kid is a legit 6'7 with a 7'1 wingspan- are you kidding me?! I love Fuller's hustle and heart he brings but if you're going to give a guy like Fuller a scholarship I can't see how you ignore this home grown product. It can't be valued enough that his length allows him to switch all ball screens, makes it harder to run your stuff on offense. I don't know that he is really a proven, dynamic scorer and I would like to add another shooter in this class that can space the floor but if we were to add Chang all of a sudden you're looking at a really big, long team at almost every position (minus Watson). Things we really need to add in the next two recruiting cycles: 1. Shooting 2. Size/Length 3. Additional ball handler
  8. Mavric, obert1, bball1091, seaofred92, nphuskers12, huskermanmike, Dillrp4NU are your winners
  9. I would take this kid in a heartbeat. Good/great athleticism and can switch screens on everyone from a 2-5 on D. Plus a local kid that will strengthen ties in the Omaha area. This is the kind of kid that Creighton has gotten and turned into a productive player for a long time. Need to lock him up.
  10. also wouldn't mind them creating some sort of "Path to the NFL team" providing any assistance that players may need with getting to the next level. Devaney kind of touched on this in a recent article- that he reaches out to his NFL contacts and lobbies them to take chances on Nebraska kids. No idea if its even allowed but the hiring of 3-5 former NFL GM's/professional staff to be in constant contact with NFL teams in regards to what is going on with certain players at Nebraska and advocating on their behalf would be an awesome thing to have here.
  11. this x100000000 Put every single dollar into recruiting. It is the lifeblood of the entire program. Hire support staff "analysts" out the wazzoo. Send the football team to Rome with Harbaugh. Do whatever the hell you have to do to get the most talented kids in the country to choose Nebraska.
  12. Figured this was worth updating as we head into the final stretch of the regular season. For Nebraska to make the NCAA tournament, it essentially needs to win out in the regular season and make the finals of the Big Ten tournament or just win the B1G tournament. So I'm not really going to waste any time discussing potential scenarios for that as that dream likely is dead. However, the NIT is very much alive and I believe would be a huge step forward for the program. In order to qualify for the NIT, we have to be at least .500 overall. That makes these final regular season games MASSIVE as we move forward. This list of games was pulled from my OP in this thread, which was posted after wins @ Indiana and @ Maryland: Games we are likely to win: vs Iowa- W vs Northwestern - L vs Ohio State- L @ Rutgers- L @ Northwestern- L @ Iowa- L Penn State- W vs Illinois @ Minnesota vs Michigan Games that I think aren't very likely for us to win: @ Michigan- L vs Purdue- W vs Michigan State- L vs Wisconsin- L @ Ohio State- W @ Michigan State Record in first games: 2-5 Record in second games: 2-3 Overall Record: 12-14 B1G Record: 6-8 Nebraska needs to go 3-1 in the last 4 games to have a chance at the NIT. I saw on Twitter that Nebraska would play in the CBI or CIT if they don't make the NIT which I'm not even going to provide scenarios for because they've likely already qualified for those tournaments if they really want to play in them. That makes this next game @ Michigan State absolutely massive. Win that one, and there is real hope that we can qualify for the NIT by holding serve at home. Lose that one, and we have to go on a 3 game winning streak going into the B1G tournament and likely win 2 games there to even be considered. Its that fine of a line unfortunately.
  13. i think if he wants to commit you take his commitment as an ATH and continue to go after the bigger fish we have on our board. Doesn't mean this kid isn't talented at all just seems to be the right idea if you think he can play O or D
  14. it cant be stressed enough how important it is to get these kids on campus for either the Spring Game, FNL, or both. The big time guy from CA and other far away places that we really seemed to make strides with last year attended one or both of these events. Hopefully he makes the plans to be here and publicly confirms them somewhat soon. Will go a long long way to getting his commitment if we can get him here unofficially this early.
  15. This kid is a H Back. Bulk him to 225/230 put him in the slot/just off the LOS and let him be matched up on LBs.
