  1. Nope. Far, far from it. It's mostly the same speculative stuff filled in with rumors and such. An example of critical thinking, is using Riley's past record, and deducing that he is an average coach who willl most likely produce average results wherever he goes. Like,... this year at NU, except he took a team that finished last year's season at 9-3, and turned them into losers. Yet, you can't evaluate him? Second, you make the statement that SPEM was not up to the job of AD at NU, but then you state "That doesn't mean that he was wrong in the overall decision to fire Solich.." See the contradiction there? Then there's your laughable statement: "Solich inherited an aging staff that he elected to keep. That's on him. He owns that outright." You obviously have never worked in a close knit staff, nor do you understand the concept of continuity. Here's more from you: "And furthermore, Solich may not have been the HC at Nebraska at all. I believe it is common knowledge that Bill Byrne had his sights set on a young coordinator named Bob Stoops. But Osborne, with his legacy in tow, had some veto power and got his buddy hired instead." Nope, you don't understand the concept of coaching continuity, because you would have understood why Osborne wanted Frank and the staff retained. And last, there is this whopper: "I am sure Frank is a great guy and a good coach. I actually went to the Gophers game this year to cheer him on. I just don't believe he was the right coach to continue the winning traditions of Nebraska." And, just what are those winning traditions of Nebraska? What was Frank's record before SPEM fired him? Did he not win a B12 conference championship? Has NU won one since? What about the fact that he got NU to a national title game? Has NU been to one since? No, I don't see any critical thinking at all in your post.
  2. The amount of ignorance displayed in this thead by some NU fans as to Solich's situation is beyond description. I see one poster stated: "it was evident that perhaps the Big 12 was catching up to us and he wasn't going to be the guy to get us back on top." I wonder if this poster bases that statement on the same pixy dust as those who think that if only Riley can get his players in the system, that he will turn NU around, despite the fact that his record points to him being a career .500 head coach. Solich faced a number of problems, not the least of which was an arrogant AD who undermined/did not support him. He inherited an aging staff, some of whom thought they were a better HC than Solich, and some who did not actively go out on the road to recruit. Solich and that disjointed staff did better than expected. When he reassembled his staff, NU was on it's way back to the top. Unfortunately, as CM husker has pointed out, SPEM had other ideas, and he is the one who, despite his braggadocio on the day he fired Solich, gravitated NU into mediocrity, and below. So, if you are angry at the situation NU football is in, look no farther than SPEM, and Prickman, who enabled him (remember the extension not too long before he was fired?) If it wasn't for SPEM and Prickman, NU would have been the first school with back to back to back 100 wins head coaches. And for those who wondered who Solich recruited during his tenure as an assistant, does anyone remember Mike Rozier? I'm sure there are more, but that's just the first off the top of my head. Apparently, critical thinking is no longer taught in public schools.
  3. No, it really doesn't. Just because someone else does something stupid, is no justification for NU doing stupid. Twice.
  4. Maybe you would. But judging from what happened with Pelini, many won't. Even though that is a sad statement about a lot of NU fans, it really is the AD, and in Prickman's case, the chancellor too who matter when it comes to coaches at NU. If NU can somehow get another Devaney as AD, who can pick a potentially good coach, and protect him, as he did Osborne, then hiring Frost is a good bet. Otherwise, with a SPEM or Ickyhorst as AD, no way they have the patience to stay with a Frost, unless he wins a NC very quickly. Just look what happened to Mark Richt at Georgia. And I though NU fans and boosters were bad.
  5. Not true at all. His entire coaching record is there to see. He is a known quantity, and you can bank of the fact that Ickyhorst knows this too. The hypocrisy and double standards are simply astounding. I read where several posters have stated that Pelini would not have gotten NU over the hump because he hadn't done it in 7 years. Yet it is proclaimed that "We don't know what Riley is capable of yet."
  6. Clueless post. Two 4 star QBs and a 3 star along with a walkon who previously showed promise. Give Riley and Langs Hackenburg, Cook or any other "game manager" and they are still going to produce their average seasons, just like they always have. A coach who can't win with this roster is the problem, not the other way around. 2004-2007 deja vu all over again. I accept that a lot of fans didn't learn, but it is truely sad, that Prickman didn't learn anything from that fiasco. Shows what a feckless "leader" he really is. Also, I couldn't agree more with world's post. Just like in 2004, Riley's staff is trying to force a square peg into a round hole, even though they said they wouldn't. Sigh.
  7. Key word right there. These are still Bo's players, and I have yet to see if any of the players brought in by the new staff have discipline. I'm probably wasting my time, but, what the heck. If you were to use some logic, then the obvious questions become: How in the world did Pelin win 9 games last year with these "undisciplined players? How in the world did last year's NU team rally from 24-7 down at Iowa last year to beat them in OT? Coaches instill discipline. Quit blaming the players. As a smart poster here has stated numerous times, "NU has enough talent to win at least 9 games every year", to which I'll add, if, IF, they are coached properly. That is why Pelini was able to turn a 2007 5-7 team that was blown out several times, into a 9 game winner in his first year.
  8. Nope. NU, under Prickman, is stuck in the 50's, before Devaney was hired.
  9. No way. First, some of you fans deserve what is coming. Second, no way, no how, should Prickman and his boy Ickyhorst have another chance to make a bad hire. Until both are gone, keep Riley.
  10. I see your arguments get the same derision as any that tried to defend Joe Dailey in 2004. I'd like to add to your point CM, that NU won 9 games with Tommy when he was a freshman! With two years of winning 9 games under his belt, now, he suddenly is a loser? Good gawd, the historical revision by some of the so called "greatest fans" is stunning! I suggest all those Tommy Armstrong doubters go back and watch how he helped rally NU last year AT Iowa, from 24-7 down, using his arm to make critical throws. Oh wait. I forgot! According to some of the "greatest fans," that win against Iowa didn't count, as a Monkey could have achieved that. No, a logical person would ask what is different between this year and last, and quickly conclude that a career average coach put Tommy in bad positions all year. This is 2004 deja vu all over again, with Tommy Armstrong now in Joe Dailey's place as the scapegoat for the sorry defense of a bad coach. A coach who just took a team that finished with a winning record the previous year, and turned them into losers. Yeah, classy NU fans.
  11. What really digs at me, regarding that second article CM linked, is how Solich, who, as the article and CM points out, took the high road, and refused to discuss his situation, was pilloried by many Nebraska fans then, as much, or more, than Pelini was after his firing. Thus exposing as complete BS the arguments putforth that Pelini had no class. Best fans in college football my arse.
  12. You may be right. But, knowing that SPEM was brought in to fire Solich, it still leaves the door open for my theory too. I wouldn't put it past SPEM to use both: the ends justify the means. The fact that Prickman supported that guy says all anyone needs to know about him.
  13. SPEM was a slimeball extraordinare. It's obvious that he tried to placate Osborne by naming the complex after him. And Prickman supported him 100%. Like he is now doing with Ickyhorst. Until Nebraska gets rid of this scourge, the football program will linger in Pedeocrity.
  14. That Osborne. Such a nice fellow. Prickman, on the other hand. What a schmuck. He has a career in politics waiting for him, if he wants.
  15. It would be interesting to know the career records of those coaches Chatelain looked at. Were any of them .500 career coaches like Riley?
  16. The reading comprehension of some posters is atrocious.
  17. That absolutely nails it for me too. I have a hard time comprehending the (over) reaction by fans who give nothing but emotional support. And I especially despise the way some fans trash players who've worked their butts off, just because those players aren't propping up the fragile egos of those fans.
  18. That's the best synopsis of what has happened to NU under pencil neck's reign. And, it was written by a journalist to boot. While some very smart posters on this forum understood this during the SPEM fiasco, it took an additional failure on the part of pencil neck for Sipple to finally notice the trend.
  19. That's the type of information that never gets out in the sorry media. Mostly because the so-called journalists are too lazy, but also because of Pelini's character. Pelini absolutely nailed the stooge administration and certain fans in that tape. The truth hurt their fragile egos. But, some fans gotta agenda the man. Bash him to prop up their fragile egos. 2003-2007 deja vu! It sucks to see the Nebraska football program regress again, for the same, stupid reasons.
  20. Well, we all know Osborne's thoughts about the volleyball program. Oh, wait. No we don't. That should tell anyone all they need to know about the character of Osborne vs Pettit.
  21. Oops. Well, that's one way to up my post count.
  22. 3-9 is absolutely needed for some fans, like the count. The amount of ego that certain fans tie into the football program is beyond ridiculous. That ego needs a beating. However, it happened before, and it didn't seem to do any good then. So, maybe there's just no hope for certain fans. OTH, I feel bad for the players recruited under the previous HC during a season like this.

  25. No, you aren't self aware. If you were, you would have instantly recognized the irony in your post, and not repeated it in your reply! Pelini doesn't need rehabilitation. Certain stooge administraitors presently at Nebraska, along with some of the supposed fans, most certainly do.
