  1. I was at the game vs. UCLA on Friday with a bunch of UCLA fans in my family. Told them that Jacobson was the weakest link on our offense. He proved me right, and my family confirmed it. Almost committed as many fouls as he had points. One of them saw Isaiah Roby come in at the end and asked why he wasn't playing as a starter, as he had been one of the best bench players in the first half then wasn't played in the second half until garbage time. Seniority needs to be considered less and skill needs to be considered more when picking starters. I got on TV so not everything was bad
  2. Anybody else see this during "The Game" on Saturday? I typically hate Apple commercials, and I am typically emotionless when it comes to commercials, TV shows, or movies, but this thing gave me chills.
  3. I agree with Knapp 100%. I also agree with the person who said either say everything in private, or say everything in public. That's like a kid crying at a school assembly about how someone in his class bullied him but doesn't say who. Clearly doesn't want to say his name publicly, fine. But don't make a fuss about it publicly if you don't want to share that information. Keep it private if you're not willing to tell the entire world his name. Also not 100% convinced that he was racially assaulted. This whole thing kind of seems sketchy to me, like the one South Park breast cancer episode (that episode pissed me off by the way) where Cartman made Wendy seem like the bad person when he had in fact been making fun of breast cancer, and she was just retaliating back at him. I almost have to think that they had been exchanging trash talk at each other, and the Iowa guy is pulling the race card to gain sympathy. I am not saying that's what it is, but it would not surprise me. If there really were racist remarks at Faith and Faith only, then whoever did it should know better and shouldn't be associated with our program. How Faith is handling this whole ordeal, assuming it's true, is wrong.
  4. If they go to the Outback Bowl then I'll be able to go. Anything else and I won't.
  5. I am still having a hard time seeing why people are assuming Lee will start when we haven't even seen him take a snap, nor will we see him take one until the Spring game. Then we can start assuming things. Experience ≠ Best option.
  6. I think Banker should go. I backed him heavily even after the OSU game, but after the Iowa game I realized something: We sh#t the bed against above average offenses, especially on the road. Ohio State's elite offense? Destroyed us. Iowa's slightly above-average offense? Destroyed us. Minnesota's decent offense? Had they not made a ton of mistakes, we would have lost. I had legit hope up to and including the Wisconsin game, because our defense performed as they should have in every one of those games, but that was all erased in the past 4 games. As for Langsdorf, I can see either side. If he got fired, I wouldn't riot. If he got retained, I wouldn't riot either. I'm leaning more towards fire him too only because I am still not comfortable with his play calling abilities, There is no wrong side on this matter (except stupid ones, of course). I'll be patient with him even though I don't want to be. I like Cav. Had to work with walk-ons, and still produced a not-horrendous o-line. As long as Keith Williams starts smiling in group photos and stops getting DUIs, I like him. Great recruiter and very enthusiastic. Seriously though, has anyone seen his Instagram? Almost looks like he's intentionally frowning in photos. You will see the light on this one to, you are just alittle slow on the eval Let's talk next year when we have actual top prospects playing there.
  7. I would be in favor of trying to get Charlie Strong as a DC. It's been said numerous times that he'd be an awesome DC. I for one am an advocate for this although, this got me thinking about Will Muschamp. Awesome DC at Texas, goes to be the HC at Florida, gets fired after a short tenure and then hops on to the Auburn staff as a DC for one year, not really improving their defense I might add, before bolting to SC. I do not want to hire Charlie Strong for a 1 year pit stop as a DC.But if you want great coordinators, that's a chance you have to be willing to take. You don't want to stop hiring talented people with the fear they might leave in a year.the problem is in the case of Muschamp especailly, he wasn't a great coordinator for the time they had him, then a year later they are scrambling for someone else. I'm fine if Strong comes here for a year and coaches the defense up to top 3 in our conference and then leaves. But he can just go elsewhere if we were to hire him, see no markable improvement and he leaves after a year. Not worth it imo unless he brings in the best defensive recruiting class we have ever had in his one year. You have to be willing to make gambles like this. It's what being a good HC is all about. You can't just hire a nobody and expect him to lead your team to the top.

  10. He'd go to Purdue before he went down to an assistant position.
  11. I don't think it has anything to do with having a soft spot. You don't burn his redshirt unless POB is significantly better than Fyfe, unless your starter is injured early in the season or he's injured late and you have an extremely important game. I think, as a true freshman, POB isn't enough better than Fyfe (if better at all) to burn his shirt.Armstrong could be down. Ryker likely will be down. Darlington would be our first string man. What would we do if he gets hurt or just isn't cutting it? Put in Lamar Jackson? This isn't a throw away game. We need to win this. This opinion may be unpopular, but if those hypotheticals happen, we'll have to burn it. Of course I hope nothing happens. I hope either Tommy starts and we're back to normal, or Darlington starts and he lights it up.
  12. Somebody should buy the University of Iowa and turn it into a strip club. Wait, what? That already happened? Damn. That explains a lot.
  13. I thought it was weird. Newby certainly looked deserving of the starting spot this past weekend, but normally Devine would get just under half of the touches.
  14. It's not like they are in the same position where they were last year, where the Iowa game doesn't really matter. They NEED to win Friday. That being said, I have high hopes for Darlington. He's looked good the limited times I've seen him. If, however, he needs to be taken out by any means, they need to go with a real QB, which would be POB. Of course, I hope Tommy starts and we don't worry about anything. If Tommy starts, business as usual.
  15. I was also wrong about my Cowboys. I like being wrong.... I wish you were wrong about the Cowboys. I think this season has exceeded everyone's expectations. We've won everything we should have won. Now we just have a tough Iowa team and bowl game left.
  16. Iowa will not be easy by any means. This is a team that has given us a tough time even in their most mediocre seasons.
  17. Well yeah, no sh#t. They don't know that peeing on corn doesn't count as watering it.
  18. Iowa's first game here after the Big Ten joined Nebraska in 2011, I was sitting crammed together with a really nice-looking Iowa fan. Their girls are almost as cute as ours. We have more 10s.
  19. What do you consider "record"? I know we go through this every year....because some fans (you) have a fit when someone suggests or acts like Iowa is a rival? They are a rival to a lot of fans. They may not be to you...and that's fine. It's not like the entire fan base all of a sudden has to take a vote and what ever the decision is....settles it. A lot of Iowoegians don't like Nebraska and a lot of Nebraskan's don't like Iowa. None of the hate from either side is logical. You can just tell that by the jokes that go back and forth. Believe me...moving to Iowa from Nebraska and then back again....I know this first hand. Constantly the same jokes. Constantly Iowa fans hating on Nebraska. Constantly Nebraska fans thumbing their noses at Iowa and claiming they suck. In the end...it's the same fricken jokes told by each side. On and on and on..... It's a rival. You don't have to agree with it or even have it as a rival for yourself. AND....it's not even a rival at the level of OU....but at this point, no BigTen team is. And...no reason to get into this big debate with people who do think it's somewhat of a rival every year. I see the whole thing with Iowa as more of a friendly rivalry where each side takes jabs at each other. I don't HATE them, pretty sure most Hawkeye fans don't HATE us, but we still take fun jabs at each other. I feel like more natural hate comes out of us and Wisconsin, and I wouldn't mind them being our rivalry week game, but they already have their thing with Minnesota.
  20. Anybody who's going to the game want scissors? They're very useful for cutting man buns off of Iowan men.
  21. When they come here next year, should we put "no spitting dip into the urinals" signs in the bathroom?
  22. I am heavily, heavily surprised that we have not lost a game due to sh#t special teams play. We certainly have given up too many unnecessary touchdowns due to horrible special team play, cue the Minnesota game.I hate having to be scared every time we return a punt for DPE to muff it due to poor coverage. I am a huge MR supporter, but keeping Read after we have placed last in many ST categories is inexcusable
  23. As an addendum, according to Sagarin, our best win is over a team that is not yet bowl-eligible.... Are we sure of that though? Are we sure our best win isn't over potential MWC champion Wyoming? Or over 8-3 Minnesota? At least we aren't saying Oregon anymore.
  24. I like Cav. He has been a recruiting god so far. Sure, our line isn't perfect, but just wait until we plug some of his players in to criticize him.
