  1. you really expect some walk ons to block one of the most talented and physical d lines in the country with any effectiveness? Wow Don't care how much you coach em up, that's a losing battle 8 out of 10 times
  2. I havent seen a staff at NU that demonstrated an ability to dominate weaker teams since the solich years. We dominated Wyoming, a pretty solid team
  3. How about we wait until NSD to judge the recruiting class. We may have been .700 before but we haven't won any sort of championship in so long and the teams that are have a different make up than our team or what Pelini was putting on the field. We wouldn't need a rebuild if our goal was to win 9 or 10 games every year. But if we want championships we gotta break down what we were doing before and rebuild something new Also I never slammed the players
  4. You weren't the only one fooled. A blowout like this continues to sets the program back. If this happens in year 4 of the Riley experiment then we need to move on.most people can agree with this. But this is year two and we may have been out coached but our players were out played as well. Coaches called some plays especially early that gave us a chance. The players didn't execute on some of those plays. At the same time it was clear Meyer and Co was much better than Riley and Co yesterday. It's not all on the coaches, our coaches are't bad coaches at all. Exact same should be said for the players. But Ohio State has one if the 3 best coaches in college football and players across the board who would be starting over our guys if they played for us. Not at every position, but at most positions. Combine that with the fact we came out and executed poorly and fell apart with playcalling, and OSU played one of their best games to date yiu get a blowout loss There was a lot of half effort by the players. It's become acceptable for blowouts to occur. The reason Meyer gets stressed out over a loss is that his biggest fear is losing will become acceptable. We have witnessed these kind of blowouts under 2 different coaching staffs so I place a lot of blame on player attitude. I'm giving the coaches 2 more years to fix that. Maybe Riley's leadership style will eventually instill enough pride into the players that they will never give up in difficult games but I don't know. He seems like too nice of a guy and I think the fix involves less coddling and more tough love. Something maybe only an a-hole like Meyer can deliver which is meant as no disrespect to him. Perhaps Riley can simply set the expectations higher and the players will respond. I definitely believe these kind of losses set a program back. If I was one of the many 4 and 5 star OSU recruits watching the game last night, I would not consider Nebraska. We had an A hole as a coach before so I don't think that is the key to urbans success. Not saying you were saying it was, but I don't think personality is a determining factor, more how you utilize your personality. Other than that I can't disagree with anything you said
  5. I don't understand the thought of rooting for our rivals to win a NC. I don't like rooting for other teams in my conference, and I sure as heck don't want Ohio State and Michigan to "look better" to potential recruits if they win a national championship.OSU isn't a rival really. Sounds like you want to go back to the Big 12. OSU and Michigan are going to continue to get the guys they want if they win a ship or not. I'd rather a Big 10 team win the NC then Alabama. The increase in conference strength helps us. Gotta play the best to beat the best, and you have to beat the best to be the best. Right now we have some of the best in our conference and this conference continues to get better. That helps us not hurts us, unless we aren't up for the challenge. The increase in conference strength only helps us if NU keeps getting better along with the other teams. That's not happening right now I don't like rooting for "conference pride". I only care about NU. I think it's stupid when SEC schools chant "SEC" when they suck but then they suck on the teat of Alabama winning a national championship. I don't want NU fans to do that for Ohio State and Michigan. that's a fair point. My view is based solely on making the Big 10 look good so recruits want to come here because they want to play in the best conference. I want the Big 10 to look good as a challenge to our own university to raise the bar. If we can continue to churn out decent seasons because our conference sucks that doesn't challenge us to get better. I do understand where you are coming from and I in no way want to mooch of OSUs success like the SEC does Alabama, but I do want to be a part of the consensus best conference and be able to compete for supremacy within it.
  6. Our Oline is going to get significantly better over the next few years. Alot of talented young bucks at that position group that aren't quite ready yet. When they are, I reckon we will see a noticeable improvement. Get a guy like Foster Sarrell in here and we really accelerate the proccess. If this was year 4 for HCMR it would be a sign to consider looking for a new coach. But right now we are really in the middle of a rebuilding project with a championship goal
  7. We have a nice W over that well coached, gritty UW team and I am proud of that! Bohl has done a fantastic job

  9. It's not like we weren't getting burned anyway. JT is a QB with great field vision and is very good at countering blitzes. They also have outlet guys strategically placed, just a better overall offensive strategy. We STILL should've gone after him EVERY down. Letting a guy like Barrett stand back there looking around all night is suicide. Offensively, Tommy throws low % passes into coverage and doesn't have great timing, accuracy, or touch on short ones......but we already knew that. if we switch QB'S we have a chance. No disrespect to Tommy, but we need that precision passing game against teams like OSU and that's just not his forte. Again no disrespect to Tommy but this offense and his skillset is not a quality marriage and it hinders our offense. If we were running a TO offense, Tommy would play at an AA level
  10. Listen to the rational Buckeye fan!! It's really amazing what Urban is doing over there in Columbus. He makes Jim Tressell look like the Great Value version. Scary thing is it only seems yall will be improving over the next 3 years. Good luck the rest of the year, please win a NC so I can feel less bad about this loss lol
  11. This. All game long. the holding was bad, but I don't think it would have made a 59 point difference could have made a 50 point difference though. That 3rd and 20 could have been a momentum swing in our favor that could have completely changed the game. Confidence definitely helps a team out and we got really deflated after they went on to score after converting on that play. We get the sack and put together a solid drive, the game may have had more grit to it. Regardless we were outclassed yesterday plain and simple
  12. I learned most people are alot more rational the day after. The game thread was a sh#t show, much worse than usual
  13. Ohio State seemed bored more than anything over the last month. It bit them in the butt in Happy Valley, and after being asked what is wrong with them by everyone on campus/media, they played their first marquee primetime game at home. Well, we got their full attention instead of the sleepwalking version that has been going through the motions over the past month. Ohio State is going to run this conference for the foreseeable future unless a lot of these young guys go pro early. We are at least three good recruiting classes from having the talent/depth to realistically go into a place like the horseshoe and expect to compete with having a good chance at leaving with a win. This is more proof for the "walk on" people that this is what you get when you are forced to play a lot of them against a championship caliber team and it isn't pretty. Don't be surprised if Ohio State beats the hell out of Mechicken too the last weekend of the regular season. They have also played a very easy schedule where they have only played two teams (Rutgers and MSU) on the road so far. They play at Iowa next weekend who has fallen off the map. At home vs Indiana then at Ohio State. http://www.espn.com/college-football/team/schedule/_/id/130/michigan-wolverines 100% No player blaming and coaches could do a better job but it's really hard to do that when you are outmanned like we were, especially in the trenches. It will improve, we have good young talent at o line in particular, but we aren't there yet
  14. Wisconsin and NW keeping it close against OSU has nothing to do with this game. OSU is wayyyyyyy more talented than those teams but they are tough squads and OSU is inexperienced so they really gonna have some struggles and take some bumps and bruises. What OSU has done the last 3 weeks was OSU under performing. They didn't under perform last night, we did and it made for a lopsided game. It happens sometimes but I don't think it should define our season unless we let the rest of the year get away from us
  15. It makes no sense to me. I can see the younger fans being a little butthurt about it because they never saw NU at the pinnacle of their success. So they have mainly seen it happen to us, while not knowing that we used to do it almost on a weekly basis. Back then we would say things like we are using our 2nd,3rd,4th string players, they will run the offense and if XX University can't stop them, then that is their fault for allowing backups to score on them. Well that holds true when we are on the wrong side of one of those ass whippings. It's our job to stop them, we have nobody to blame but ourselves for allowing them to run the score up because we didn't stop them. I was born in 95. No problem with OSU or Meyer continuing to score. They could have scored 100 and there would still be no problem. Play a great game and this doesn't happen
  16. This exactly. Disappointing loss, embarrassing loss but it's not like this has been a trend under Riley. If it becomes one then I can understand wanting major changes made. But this is the first time this has happened under Riley, and it happened to a team legitimately more talented than us. Cut the team a little slack at this point in the year

  18. You are f'n crazy!!!! we have been totally outclassed in players and coaches. We did tonight but I'm not crazy. Just not as overreactive as some and still have hope for the season despite one really bad performance. What can I say, I'm a fan of the huskers
  19. No 2 seasons........Did you know we have outscored every teams defensive average we have played besides this one? Should we fire every OC we get because it is literally always their fault to some posters and in reality it's not always his fault and we don't always play terrible offenseNo. because we play legit teams and get shell shocked.THIS HAS LITERALLY HAPPENED ONE TIME UNDER RILEY. that being tonight. We have either won or lost a tough battle in every other game against Riley True, but this one is a doozy. it is but it is one doozy. 5 games left this year. If we sh#t the bed down the stretch I will eat crow and doubt this staff, but right now I'm not letting one really bad game overshadow the other good things happening at NU right now
  20. No because im not happy with a team that wins against all the lackluster teams. I want a team with determination that wins against the well coached well talented teams. We've had this type for how many years now? We almost did last week. This week was a let down. Still could easily have the best season we've had in 15 years. This one hurts and obviously is not the type of performance that should be defended, but I am not calling it quits on this team and staff based on one game when in the previous 8 we have shown ww are better than this

  22. We had a poor game against a great opponent that played very well today and everyone acts like the season is gone to sh#t now. We could finish the season 12-2 still yet yall want to end the season now so we end on a low note and can fire all of our coaches
  23. No 2 seasons........ Did you know we have outscored every teams defensive average we have played besides this one? Should we fire every OC we get because it is literally always their fault to some posters and in reality it's not always his fault and we don't always play terrible offense
  24. considering we had 123 at halftime...Thanks. I feel a lot better now.....one good sack and we could be under..... doubt it. We will finish with over 250
