  1. Meeting with Les Miles regarding the coaching vacancy. So for all of you who told me that Les wouldn't be able to lure top-tier talent to Lincoln, let's see what he does at Minnesota if he lands there.
  2. What do you mean "come on, man"? That was my entire point. Back when I voiced concern about Bo's classes, people said I was being too critical and a Debbie Downer. Yet now look where we are. And now, when I voice criticism about Riley's current class, they tell me the same thing. See what I'm saying?
  3. There have already been rumors that POB might not be as good as originally thought.
  4. When Bo's seat first started to get warm I (along with a few others) dropped Petersen's name in threads discussing who we should pursue. We were laughed at and ridiculed by some know-it-all fans who assured us that Petersen would never leave Boise. We see how that turned out. Instead when the time came we hired the anti-Bo without being concerned whether or not he was an elite coach. So now we're stuck languishing in mediocrity until his contract is up. Look at teams like Oklahoma, Bama, Washington, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State. They have provided the blueprint; we need to follow it. A big name who can attract top recruits to Lincoln is the only way to get this program back to elite status. In addition, Riley could finish 5-7 next season (entirely possible) and he's not going anywhere. Eichorst will never fire him, because that would reflect negatively on him.
  5. Lol -- did I just read where someone said that LSU wanted Lee? LMAO that is totally untrue. He did a workout and afterwards he was told they weren't interested. They weren't impressed with neither his arm strength nor his accuracy. If you're expecting big things from Lee, you're in for a disappointment. I've seen him play about 6 or 7 times in HS and at Tulane and he is a very average QB.
  6. Come on, guys. Why set yourselves up for disappointment? The only one we stand a realistic shot at landing is Calvin; the others are going elsewhere. Sorry guys, but Saturday is going to be a letdown. We have a better chance of landing zero than we have of landing two. I expect one.

  8. And your basis for this is????? Living in Louisiana, I saw him play numerous times in HS and twice at Tulane. At the time I thought nothing of him. Had good size but not much else. I never in my wildest dreams thought he'd ever end up at Nebraska. I thought he'd end up at a school like McNeese, UL-Monroe, UL-Lafayette, or Tulane (which he did). When he decided to leave Tulane he had a workout at LSU prior to the one at Nebraska. After his workout they told him they weren't interested. They weren't impressed with neither his arm strength not his accuracy. The fact that LSU wasn't interested is telling, because their QB situation was iffy heading into this season. Look who ended up becoming their starter -- a Purdue transfer.
  9. Sadly, I don't think we'll ever follow the blueprint that teams such as Michigan, Bama, and Ohio State have made. We'd rather take the economical route and try to catch lightning in a bottle, which is highly unlikely in today's football landscape. Gotta be willing to pay big time $ for a big time coach in today's day and age. Anyone expecting anything more with this staff in charge is delusional. Please for my own information tell me what "big time coach" is going to come to Nebraska and revive the program. Any big time coach is going to go where recruiting is easy. Why would he beat his head against the wall here. You might find a young guy who has had success at lower levels and would love to get paid but he comes with no guarantees. Les Miles, for one. He's played in multiple NCs and won one. He knows how to beat Saban. He is an elite recruiter with ties to the south. Only knocks are his age and his alignment with Cam Cameron, who is a terrible OC. Miles with a legit OC would be exactly what this program needs.
  10. Our O-line looks (and blocks) like a bunch of padded-up marshmallows out there.
  11. I've already seen the hype train on Tanner Lee starting to churn, just like the hype train for this years recruiting class did last spring. Media trying to convince us of something in order to keep the heat off. If any of you are expecting Tanner Lee to be something special, prepare to be disappointed. He's about a notch above Fyfe.
  12. Banker isn't going anywhere, period. When Riley was hired we were told that he'd have the resources to assemble a top-notch staff. He had the opportunity to hire Ed Orgeron, who stated publicly that he was interested. Instead Riley chose Banker. That's when I first detected that we were in trouble.
  13. Riley and championships are like oil and water. Anyone who thinks we're going to win a title of any kind with Riley at the helm is either blind or in denial. I say 6-6 next year, and that's being generous. 5-7 is more likely.
  14. Bottom line is, Eichorst will never fire Riley, because it would reflect negatively on him. In turn, Riley will never fire Banker due to his loyalty. So basically we're stuck until Riley's contract expires. I don't have any faith that we'll make a good hire when it's that time again, anyway. We need to shell out big time $ and go after some big time coaches. Heck I remember when I said we should pursue Petersen and people laughed and said he'd never leave Boise. Washington proved that you never know unless you try.

  16. We got smacked down busy a middle-of-the-pack SEC school in what was a down year for the SEC. smh
  17. LOL Banker's not going anywhere. Riley and Banker go hand-in-hand. Then all spring and summer we get to hear how great things are looking, and then next year, it's the same old s**tshow and the cycle repeats itself. Doesn't take a brilliant person to figure it out.
  18. Next year is gonna be worse, IMO. Agreed. They've already started the Tanner Lee hype train, trying to convince people how good he is. I saw him play many times I'm he and twice at Tulane, and he was not good. The excuse will be that he played with a terrible OL in Tulane. I don't know what they think he's getting here. Prior to his Nebraska workout, he had a workout at LSU. They wanted nothing to do with him, which tells me all I need to know, because LSU's QB situation was not good coming into this season. I hadnt heard LSU wanted nothing to do with him, but I know he visited there. I live in Baton Rouge. They were not impressed with his arm strength nor accuracy.

  20. You sell early playing time, which is very attractive to the top guys. I'd pretty much tell guys you're not redshirting. Pull a Bob Stoops and recruit guys who can play that don't need development. They've BEEN telling guys that -- yet these guys would still rather go to Michigan or Ohio State where they're 5-deep at the same position, all because of the coach. Not sure why Nebraska fans think we can win championships without a championship-caliber coach.

  22. But...but... We've got to wait til next year for Riley to have his own guys playing, right? What a load of crap.
  23. We need a big name coach/recruiter, someone 4 and 5-stars will actually want to come to Lincoln to play for. I like Frost, but he'd struggle just as much with recruiting.
  24. There will be no more firings. Riley is loyal to a fault. Injuries will be blamed for this loss.
