For me the biggest improvement between Thompson and Martinez will be that I don't see Thompson melting down during game winning drives. Martinez was typically at his worst when the game was absolutely on the line, almost always throwing a terrible pick or fumbling away the ball. I don't hate the guy and respect the hell out of him because I believe he gave Nebraska his all and was always classy. However as I watched the Texas vs. OU highlights that were posted earlier, I seen Thompson lead Texas down on a game tying drive at the very end. That is obviously the biggest game of the year and one of the biggest rivalries in CFB so you know the pressure was on. I just don't see Thompson making the same blunders that Martinez did.

With as piss poor as our special teams have been, and the fact that unit alone has cost us several games in Frost's tenure, I say throw caution to the wind and put your best guys out there. If the RB 1 race is super tight, the drop off from RB 1 to 2 shouldn't be that big, and we need all the special teams help we can get after these last several years. Especially if Frost wants to save his job

I'm pretty sure there have been rumors about Rutgers and Maryland getting the boot. IF the BIG was to do that, it would only be because they for sure have better schools who have agreed to come over (better financially). I could see Rutgers getting the boot for a school like KU coming over due to the money their basketball program is worth. The BIG has to focus on money, but the people in charge are foolish if they don't look at schools that have potential to also bring in championships in major sports. I'm not sure Rutgers fits the mold in either category now that streaming is as/more important than TV sets
