  1. That was after he was hired by Ohio. You claim it happened before he was fired, and insinuate that it's what caused him to be fired. Do you have any proof of your claims or not?
  2. A lot of reasons. He's a native of Ohio. He didn't have that many years left. And Nebraska is the only P5 school that hires 60+ year old coaches. And you might want to look at how many players on the '03 squad signed NFL contracts.
  3. Great article! Thanks, Mav. But we can't just hire Frost. We need a committee and a search firm and we need to interview at least 12 guys to make sure we find the right guy.
  4. Solich is a legacy Husker. He's still in the Husker record books. He had an incredible run as an assistant coach and was the handpicked successor of the greatest coach of all time. He won Big 12 Coach of the year honors, won a championship, played for a national championship and coached a Heisman winner. And some so called Husker fans want to continually drag him through the mud. Frankly (pun intended), it's disgusting.
  5. Sounds like you have some proof. Let's see it. Put up or take it to Rumorville where it belongs.
  6. And that's pretty much what people were saying about Osborne after 6 years.
  7. Frost does it. Did you see his first presser after they cracked the top 25 at 4-0? He said he asked his team if they were rated. Every one of them said "No". He asked them what their record was, and every player said "0-0". He has them laser focused.
  8. Wow. I just took a look at UCF's results against the spread this season. They've won against the spread every game, averaging over 20 points per game above the betting line! Their worst performance was against East Carolina when the spread was -35 and they only won by 43. They are -8 against Navy today. Go Knights! 9. He'll bring most of them, but I would bet UCF will offer his DC the HC job.
  10. Great post. But I would like to point out that he didn't really get booed out of the stadium. I was at the game. The boos were audible, but not that many people were booing. It was mostly a few drunk students.
  11. I don't think you're allowed to say that on this board.
  12. All false propaganda propagated by Pederson and his minions. I hope Solich writes an autobiography some day.
  13. If anything, Riley seems to be getting worse. I think he hit his peak about ten years ago.
  14. At Ohio??? Nebraska is the only D1 game in town. Is Ohio even in the top ten list of football schools in their state? And walkons aren't necessarily required for success, but they are a necessary part of the Nebraska blueprint that Devaney and TO developed. If Solich was an all-time great coach, he would probably have been able to adapt a different system that would work better at Ohio. But it's not the place for the classic Nebraska blueprint.
  15. There's plenty of evidence. I'll give you one good example. The walk-on program. It's a big part of the Husker system from 1970-2003. In Solich's last season here, he had 162 on the roster. At Ohio, he currently has 118. He can't field anywhere near as many players at Ohio. He's already got guys on the team that would've been turned away from the '03 squad.
  16. Luckily TO had a great AD. Where did you find this? I googled Samson McKettlecorn and got zip.
  17. System. Not talent. He ran the Nebraska blueprint, at Nebraska, and ran it well. That same system won't work as well in Ohio.
  18. Not within the system at the time. It was practically impossible for a 2 loss team to move ahead of a 1 loss team. Maybe in the current system, Florida may have had a chance.
  19. Different definitions of great. Similar to how Wisconsin plugs guys into their system, Solich was a great Husker-system coach. That same system doesn't work in the MAC. He doesn't have a state full of HS kids chomping at the bit to be a Bobcat. He's still by far the best coach Ohio has ever had.
  20. I hear that a lot and I've never understoood that attitude. I watched the BCS selection show and I was hooting and hollering like it was the '95 Orange Bowl. No one else deserved that spot any more than we did.
  21. You left out Heisman winner and NC Game appearance under Solich's accomplishments. Even if we give TO the edge, it's only a very slight edge.
