  1. I think he will be consistent, once he gets the feel of the new skill players around him. In this offense, I would not think that a freak game is out of the question, it may happen more than once especially with some of the teams we play this next year. The kicker is the 10 wins or a big upset. I don't see 10 wins as too likely at all and if we are as good as all the Kool Aid drinkers are saying we will be, we should be favored in most all of our games thus limiting a true "big" upset. IMO, not gonna happen this year, but watch our for his Jr. year. Things will really click by then and we may even be able to put up those 10 wins by then too.
  2. There is a preferred walk-on from the 2019 class from Lincoln Southwest that beat a police officer, seriously injuring him and putting him in the hospital, during a drunken brawl at a high school party he was trying to run away from. Since he was 17 at the time, the parents fought like crazy to keep it in juvenile court and succeeded in doing so (a family friend is a police officer, so this is all straight from him). In the end, he never was held accountable at his high school for this or by Nebraska who brought him in. It is not like things like this were not discussed or widely known. Never missed any football or basketball games in HS this year due to this incident. Gotta love juvenile court and parents with connections. Lincoln TV story on assault of an officer
  3. Some of the old mascots they show on video clips roaming the sidelines scared the hell out of me as a kid and still do today. I will always be partial to fat, corn cob Herbie in the bib overalls.
  4. Dude, half of the stuff posted on here gets really old. Way to cherry pick right ?
  5. Good point, I missed the details of that poster.
  6. The true definition of "win at all costs" and be damned is you accuse a Husker of wrongdoing ! Blinders and all...GBR !
  7. Valentines are red and Kool Aid is too Only people of character should be at our school You may send porn or beat up a cop But many will say, why should this stop? Win at all costs and deal with it when The piper comes back home, roosting again
  8. By trying to explain it away, through any number of ways I have read on the 20+ pages of this thread, that is defending actions and the person who is being questioned.
  9. Crazy to think, in the name of football, how many people can justify and defend what he "allegedly" did. Win at all costs comes to mind. Filtering out these types of people, before they ever step on campus would be even better.
  10. The week just keeps getting better for Frost and Co. I really think that character has been low on the list of recruitment criteria. GeezePizza Time
  11. As a parent myself, I agree with your post. It is amazing to read some of the responses. By the tone of many of them, you can pretty much tell who has kids of their own or a sister that they would not want to see in this situation. My God people, a 15 year old girl was sexually assaulted and we are worrying about a man/child who can run the football? I am not going to judge anyone's moral compass, but there are many on this board that need to have their's reset.

  13. What do you need? The officer who he put in the hospital or any of the number of LPD officers who were sickened by the lack of punishment? Not like the officers have a reason to lie about something like that now would they? Like I said, not like it was so far under the rug that it did not see the light of day. Juvenile court is great that way, even if he was weeks away from being 18 years old.
  14. Yeah, there is a LOT of evidence that Scotty Frosty is willing to look the other way when it comes to character of players he is recruiting. There is a preferred walk-on from the 2019 class from Lincoln Southwest that beat police officer, seriously injuring him and putting him in the hospital, during a drunken brawl at a high school party. So yes, there is strong evidence that character can be overlooked when it comes to players.
  15. Football is the cash cow that not only supports women's sports, but men's sports as well. Outside of football, men's basketball, and women's volleyball every other sport at UNL is supported from the funds brought into the athletic department from football. Sure, UNL could have more sports of many kinds, but don't see a reason to do it.
  16. Some schools do have other men's sports such as hockey , soccer, and volleyball and they too must find a way to create the balance required by Title IX. You just don't "invent" a college sport to satisfy the boundaries of Title IX, it has to make sense and have kids playing that sport to feed into it. If you look at the total number of sanctioned NCAA sports, there are a lot we don't have here in Nebraska. If your football coach wants 150 or more men on the football team, even if they are walk-on's, the AD has to see if they can make it work and that is either by elimination of other men's opportunities or creating new opportunities for women. Nebraska had a men's gymnastic team at one time and I am sure there are others we used to have. For the benefit of all athletes, I have no problem with Title IX as schools (from junior high to college) were not doing justice towards female sports on their own. College Athletic Scholarship Limits
  17. I kept hearing "8 wins" for the 2018 season and we delivered half of that (one being Bethune). With that in mind, people saying 11 or 12 wins, Im going to go with 6 or 7, a bit more than half. Until we can be consistent, every game is going to give you many "WTH" moments. I just don't see it with such a young roster.
  18. It is amazing that people think that football is an income generator at all colleges and universities. You have to think outside of the red Kool Aid bubble of Nebraska and see that there are many schools that run their athletic departments in the red and no sports bring in a positive balance sheet. What about Division 2 schools or FCS ? They are not making money either as they don't have TV contracts. I'd love to l know how many of those making misguided comments have kids and especially have daughters. Your tone would change, I can almost guarantee it.
  19. Volleyball = very relavent. Football=.makes $$, not relavent for ages. No hate, just facts. Kool Aid drinkers hate facts, I know. Hope is all there is, hope we can win something, anything on the football field that matters. I guess we have a fabricated sell out streak to hang our hats on. Football will always matter more, don’t disagree. People bashing on women’s sports, sad at the very least. Football is king, even when they suck and we have seen enough of that the last decade to last me forever.
  20. Amen! When you are a relavent team, beating top teams and playing in games which are meaningful at the national scale......those are fun. There are generations now that have no clue.
  21. Do you remember all those with a Husker Flags lining up behind the band and then everyone falling in line marching around the tailgate chanting Go Big Red.....? It was surreal. I could hardly talk before we even got into the game from cheering and yelling so much at the tailgate.
  22. How do athletic departments who operate at a loss offer everything they have to do? Oh right, the general student funds do it. Even if a school can’t afford it, they have to offer the women’s sports, welcome to Title IX
  23. I guess some of you need to read into what Title IX is. It is not like athletic departments have a choice but to offer all the sports they do, that is what rule is all about. It sounds like many of you would rather eliminate all sports not football and especially women’s sports, I just SMH at that kind of ignorance.
  24. I never said football was not "king" when it comes to bringing in $$, we all get that. To think that football can do anything it wants to (disregarding Title IX) is exactly what our AD said it could not do, he had to find the balance and how to do it. It is not as simple as "just doing it" but it has to be done in a way in which the equal opportunity which Title IX implores is not discounted. This is precisely why men's sports continue to be dwarfed women's in colleges. Football is a beast and even though it funds everything else (at least at NU), it does shift the balances for AD's who have to figure out a way to bring enough women's sports on board to even it out. There are also scholarship limits which also need to be accounted for. As crappy as NU football has been, yes it is still "Da Man" and people want it to succeed, it is the pulse of our state as we don't have anything close to it to hang our hats on. Just because the revenue is massive in the athletic department, it has grown substantially in all Power 5 conferences, so we are not unique there at all. Maybe, someday, if the football team can decide to get out of its own way and actually perform on the field and be relevant on a national scale, the purse strings will really fatten up. Until then, we are feeding off the bottom as the little brother in the Big 10. What have we done in forever to change that? I have held season tickets now for close to 30 years for football and for close to 10 for volleyball. What John Cook is doing not only on campus, but across the state, is incredible. Funny how most wont recognize a legend in their midst as the football Kool Aid flows.
