  1. Kansas? Who is Kansas? Can't believe we lost this guy to Kansas. A big surprize to me. Don't see that offense as dynamic at all. Isn't Reising (spelling) gone? Bumbed about this one. This and a few DE's and DT's lost here these past few days really bumbed me out. Not what I thought would happen after our bowl game. SheepdogMark
  2. Interesting point ... hopefully, both TT, Texas and OU will all show up and play. I always root for all Big 12 teams when it comes to bowls, except for one occasion, it was the 79 Orange Bowl game I was at ... we beat OU during the year and had to play them again in that bowl ... it sucked and we lost. But other than that, can't recall ever not rooting for a Big 12 team in bowls. Those that don't are probably folks I couldn't drink a beer with. SheepdogMark
  3. Ganz was the MVP of the game? He fumbled a ball for a TD, that was 7 points. He also turned a score, either 3 or 7 points for the Huskers ... gave it away in a TO and it led to a TD for the other team, that was a 10 to 14 point turn around. He did throw two TD passes, both excellent, probably should have had a TD that I think Swift dropped. So, he is the MVP if you "pool" both teams together ... he scored most of the points or his mistakes led to points off those turnovers. I don't see how one can conclude that the 21, almost 28 points scored for the other team where all off mistakes by the QB of the Huskers ... and that makes him MVP? Personally, I don't call that MVP. SheepdogMark
  4. My confidence in him was shaken for sure ... I didn't want him near the ball at the end. Hopefully, with good coaching ... he can get his head out of his butt and play some football. SheepdogMark
  5. Great game ... very fortunate to have three turnovers that led to 21 points and not get beat by that ... and the two turnovers we got only led to 6 points. Many past seasons with the same scenarios and we lose this game ... so it was nice to see. CBS giving Ganz the MVP is a joke ... he played tough yes, but his pitch led to one Clemson TD, his INT led to another, he scored 14 of Clemson's points. A third TD, a fumble by Witt got called correctly after being reversed, or we would have lost this game by 28 points all off of our mistakes. Suh was the MVP of this game ... then the defense as a whole with special teams. CBS called the "play of the game" the reversal of the fumble Witt made ... that is a big joke ... you can't call that the play of the game ... takes away from what Nebraska won on the field. Loved the heart and determination shown out there by the players and coaches ... if I was a recruit ... this game had to make me think about what I could be a part of. More than anything ... it was just nice to win a game like this. I don't know if anything was "restored" ... but I can see the "horizon" and there must be something better on down the road. SheepdogMark
  6. High expectations?!?! What do you mean? There's only 12 pages of post on the guy ... we don't need to take a chill pill on expectation in the Husker Nation at all. SheepdogMark
  7. Robsker ... slammin' that door hard! As a reader ... I like the idea that those who know something speak up ... the rest can shut up or be clear in their opinion being ... just an opinion. Sometimes people think that by "saying it loud" or by getting "numbers on their side" that that means they are right. I'm an "outsider" ... so I really enjoying hearing from the "insiders". Appreciate you guys! SheepdogMark
  8. 6' 4'', 260 pounds and 4.6 speed ... gosh, without a whole lot of knowledge on agility ... guy seems to have quite a motor for an OL guy with those specks. SheepdogMark
  9. Is this because of grades or defections? Ankrah, Byrd and Washington are three of our top 6 recruits --- losing all three --- which is more likely than not --- well our top 25 class plummets to #40-45. So... we are a long way from anything solid in this class as grades will chew up many of our best people. Expect that D. Robinson and LB Norman to fail to qualify as well --- that makes 5 of the top 9 or so as academic casualities. Robsker, Man, this post was a major deflator ... I hope to holy hell you are wrong. But with so much optimism on the board ... I suppose this balances things out. SheepdogMark
  10. I started this thread ... obviously, it went off on a tangent. Well, this post is that email I sent ... and a response I got from Dr. T. He wrote it, it was sent by one of his staff ... Ann was her name I believe. I was surprized to get a personal email back. Here it is. Dear Mark, Thanks for your recent note concerning Turner Gill. Turner is the Head Football Coach at the University of Buffalo and I doubt that he would want to give up being a head football coach in order to come back here as an assistant. I appreciate your thoughts. I think a great deal of Turner myself and hope that he can return to Nebraska in some capacity at some point in time. Best wishes, Tom Osborne There was a big red N here in the origianl email. Moved in 1976 ... still bleed red. I just wanted to say that I wish Husker football would consider hiring Turner Gill as Assistant Head Coach. Wish we could find a way to get this done. He would be a great person to keep in the Husker family and add strength to our coaching and recruiting team. I would imagine that supporters of our program could come up with the finances. Thank you for your time, Mark Baker Lake Kiowa, TX
  11. But don't forget, we can lose some players and ... there are plenty of five and four stars yet to commit that can and will raise and lower other teams. I wouldn't be surprized to see us just outside the top 25 ... but still a great class ... as we hit some good targets and a well rounded class for our needs. SheepdogMark PS. Welcome Jason ... I'm excited for you ... and our program.
  12. An obvious English major here ... and an excellent analysis I might add. SheepdogMark
  13. If you follow that link to Rival, you get the video of course, but if you sign into Yahoo you can leave a post. Thought it would be nice to do a post from lots of folks to show Jason our desire to have him. There are 3 posts there now. SheepdogMark
  14. The guys mentality reminds me of Wes Welker ... now with the Dolphins ... he knows how to score and will do anything for the team. Uhh, dude, Wes Welker has played for the Patriots for two seasons now... Man, you are fast, I just posted that and caught it, and before I made the change you had made this post. Wow, we need to get you a job DeathCultAmraggedon ... glad you are N and not an OU or Horn fan. SheepdogMark
  15. Enjoyed this two minute video ... and it speaks "loudly" about the kind of player we have in Rex and his family. Reminded me of myself growing up, except I didn't have his talent, but my room looked alot like his. This is the kind of "intangible" that you can't put in "stars". The guys mentality reminds me of Wes Welker ... now with the Patriots ... he knows how to score and will do anything for the team. I'm excited to have Rex on our team. SheepdogMark
  16. I don't know why a post like this always brings the "faithful" to a debate about "stars" and "rankings" ... I'm just glad that areyouserious can finally rest at night ... cause I know this has kept him up at nights. I like our class ... but I won't be surprized to see us finish in the top 40, rather than the top 25, but I like the "gets" thus far, regardless of how the "experts" rank it. SheepdogMark
  17. I sent off an email to the Administration office this morning ... just short and sweet. To me, it makes so much sense to have Turner Gill as our Assistant Head Coach. What a great coach and recruiter we would add to this team. We can get find a way to him here, find him a spot ... pay for it. I want him in our family ... GET ER' DUN! I'm not stating this to hear all the reason why it can't happen. SheepdogMark
  18. "Shades" of Johnny the Jet Rodgers in some of those moves ... that's what I saw. I can here Lyle Bremser saying, "Oh man, what a move that was." Some great cuts ... good speed and some nice power. SheepdogMark
  19. No worries there bro. It's just an opinion. And according to the "statistics" he is looking at ... he is factually correct. Those that put a higher "weight" in those areas will make those judgments ... as they should and most would. Everyone knows "stars" mean something and lots of great talent comes out of 2-3 star athletes ... so we have done a solid recruiting class for the year ... with a coaching staff in place and some time to work the plan. The article is spot on in my opinion ... we have lots of work to do and we are competing in areas that many competitors are strong ... we have also dropped into the same catagory as A&M, TT, Mizzou, Colorado, Kansas, Kansas State (a few of those teams we are behind right now). The next few years will be about seperating our team from them and starting to challenge the TX/OU teams. Sometimes I think we should take a chill pill ... media typically give "respect" to teams that are due it ... I don't think we deserve much respect yet ... I just know that I like what I see ... and recruits see who Bo is and what he can do ... and that is exciting. It's ok to be a sleeping giant while you get things in place. SheepdogMark
  20. Curious to see if Spurier (spelling) going to Auburn affects Giles committment? Folks on the board were saying that he probably got "promised" something and would get a free, easy ride ... and that is why he committed. Don't know about any facts on that ... but ... if Spurier does go to Auburn, the lack of stability that Giles has gone thru now with the Vols .. and then the Gamecocks ... I would think that the Husker tradition at RB and the obviously upswing of Bo's Defense would still make our Huskers a great selection. It was on espn 103.3 here in Dallas today that I heard that Auburn wants Spurier for five years. Spurier wants a three year contract, with his brother I believe included with his brother being the next coach. Well, I put this out, perhaps other sources can come in here now and comment. I'm more of a reader here than a poster of information ... so maybe this helps a few mod's to confirm. Hope I didn't open any can of worms ... was just looking for some input. Thanks, SheepdogMark
  21. What "evidence" from any source is there that someone is blowing hot smoke up anyone's butt to get Jarvis? I was just wondering, several posts have signaled that others are "low-ballin" promises like such. I know in earlier posts Giles said of his Gamecock visit, "They were saying how much they need me, telling me that I'm a gamechanger. They were talking about how I can have an impact on the program." Personally, I don't know of any recruiter, including Nebraska, that wouldn't say the same thing to a recruit ... and be 100% true and as well have a clear conscience. As well, I can't think of any of these programs Giles might go to where he won't have to "earn it". My two cents, SheepdogMark
  22. That Hawkins kid really impressed me. He made some great throws and can certainly thread the needle. That's a really good team next year or so. Man the whole North looks to improve with Snyder back at K-State and these Buffs that came in here to play today. SheepdogMark
  23. I didn't think it was a classic at all. It was a lucky win. It turned out to be an exciting game because we just kept finding ways to throw the game away ... to me a classic is when two teams go toe to toe and it's the last punch thrown that gets a victory. This should not have been that close of a game at all. SheepdogMark
  24. Not really a whole lot to be excited about in this "W" today. We had a bad team on our home field and allowed them to take it down to the wire ... and then took a miracle kick to win. This was a setback ... yes, a win, and who wouldn't take it, but man o' man, if this didn't remind me of alot of OU games where we had the better team and found a way to lose it. If I was a CU fan, I'd be proud of that effort ... the word "bitter" is just a bad choice of words. My compliments to the CU fan here. A great game today by Colorado for where they were as a team. This team looks to be very tough the next 2-3 years. SheepdogMark
  25. I took the middle of your quote out, to just save space. Your original post has yet to be answered ... and that is sad. I thought you asked a good question. At the root, you were asking "I wanted to see how we are doing for recruiting?" You seemed to be saying, "I hope he (Bo) pulls in an awesome recruiting class in the end. Any thoughts?" I like those questions ... you even tried to state that you know people get focused on stars, as that's all folks like "us" have to go on. The board has now gone on to 20-30 posts debating an issue that you were not asking. Thus, maybe this post might redirect this waste of space to the issue ... Does anybody have any thoughts on how recruiting has gone thus far? Where are our strengths in this class? Where are we weak? Who are some guys we have missed out on? Is there anybody on the horizon that we might land to fill a need? What gems have we landed? What is the surprize sleeper? I'd love to have those that really know something to speak up ... and those that don't know squat to shut their mouths. We all understand stars and the system in place ... please stop telling me something I already know debating me on an issue that I'm not asking. SheepdogMark
