  1. I will take PO's these days that spread out a defense and make them defend more plays and tire them out. In the old day it was about pounding the ball at them to tire them out. In today's game it is about running 90 plays to tire them out. The reason why Syracuse beat Clemson is Syracuse didn't allow Clemson to get every call in, adjust if needed, and be ready for every snap and dominate. Syracuse kept them off their toes with all of the hurry up, motions, etc. It was a brilliant job. When was the last time we watched a team do more than one pre-snap motion and then two seconds before the snap they would get in the formation and at times they caught Clemson on their heels. That is how you defeat a team with superior talent in 2017. You have little chance of taking down a power by running 55 plays a game. You gotta get it up to 90ish area if you can.
  2. That system continuously won 9 games or more a season and won the division and got to the conference title game. Better teaching and coaching of the system is good enough to win a conference title. The pro style has never won crap at Nebraska for a reason - it takes elite talent to win at it. That is why WI will never win a national title running the system they run, they don't have enough elite talent. Their coaching is fine, but they don't have the jimmies and joes to take down a Bama or three high level wins in a row (conference title game and two playoff games). In this day and age a lot of the concepts of the old day option are run out of the shotgun. Out of the top 21 rushing teams in the country, 5 are option teams.
  3. No thanks to Littrell. I remember him at Indiana. I would take all of those other names before Littrell. Ken is the best teacher out of those names. Frost runs the more explosive system that stresses the defense the most. If we strike out on Frost and others like Ken, I would be happy with Matt Campbell. I know he will get his players to play hard and would recruit well.
  4. Schaefer tends to do a really poor job of being able to properly read things when he is doing interviews or getting info from others.
  5. UCF is wasting their timer with the fund raiser. That sign is sending a clear message.
  6. Offering a coach at $5M should be able to get you a solid coach. Tom Herman $5.75 millionClay Helton $3.8 millionKirby Smart $3.75 millionPJ Fleck $3.5 million Justin Fuente $3.4 millionWillie Taggart $3.3 millionJeff Brohm $3.3 million Lincoln Riley $3.1 million It would take close to $6M, IMO, to get any of just 6 of those coaches and you know the school they coach at would match an offer. Just imagine an offer going to Kirby Smart for $5M. Guess what Georgia would do? THey would match it instantly. Purdue was very smart to pay Brohm what they did. It would cost a lot of money to pull him away from Purdue.
  7. Who said anything about knowing him? People like Davison are tight with him. He will know what Scott Frost will do. I just watch his games and that has made me a huge fan of his offense.
  8. And if Coach Frost doesn't give a strong yes, fly down to Orlando and not return until he is signed. I don't give a flying f if it looks desperate, its about doing what it takes to get what you want. Michgian literally decided to forgo an entire recruiting class just to land Harbaugh and broke out the checkbook to get it done. They waited for weeks to get the deal done and didn't let one recruiting class impact their choice.
  9. I'm not going to pretend to know how it will go, but I'm sure I wouldn't be far off to say he will do it on his own. What I would personally do is throw a $7 million offer to Chip Kelly and make him say no. Then go to Scott Frost with a $6M or $5M offer and just flat out tell him that the state of Nebraska wants you. If those fail, then go after coaches that are the best coaches and don't let recruiting impact the choice. IMO, the best teacher and play caller is the Navy head coach.
  10. I have the full transcript from Todd's discussion earlier today. That entire discussion is just the best hot take that they can get for viewership. Zero legit thought into any of it.... Todd did NOT say Scott Frost wouldn't go to Nebraska. ESPN's Todd McShay was on Ryan Russillo's with Will Cain today and the topic of all the P5 job openings the will probably occur this off-season and then McShay discussed what Frost shoukd do and why.Transcript:McShay: "Nebraska is another one (talking about 15 plus possible/probably P5 job openings). Will Cain: "Are there enough hot coaching prospects to fill that kind of vacancy (long list of P5 probable job openings)?"McShay: "Never are."Cain: "Who is #1 this year? Who is the Tom Herman this year?"McShay: "Chip Kelly. He's got to be, right."Russillo: "Right now if you ask any fan base...:"McShay: (interrupts Russillo): "Scott Frost is another big name I think for what he is doing already."Russillo: "At UCF...So Frost is the Nebraska thing people are throwing out there because Nebraska can only hire people....McShay: (interrupts Russillo and while almost gasping says): "I'd rather be at UCF"Russillo: "You would rather be at UCF?"McShay: "I would rather....Russillo: "Oh set the alarms..."Cain: "Oh hot take!"McShay: "There is sooo much talent at UCF, in that area, in that Florida area. Theexpectations are lower. You got a school that is really yearning to be good and to move into a bigger conference. To me, that is a place to build and make it yours. That could become Scott Frost. Scott Frost did this to UCF like Frank Beamer did to Va Tech."Cain: "But its Nebraska..."McShay: "Ok...Where is my talent coming from? Who wants to come here? How do I get players here?"Cain: "Is this a Big 10 vs Big 8 thing?"McShay: "Its hard to recruit there."(Then they talk about Leach)Cain: "If Chip Kelly...then your drop down is Scott Frost and I'm not saying anything about Scott Frost (Russillo notes Frost was on Kelly's staff)...you just named 9 P5 programs a minute ago, Mike Leach will be at a big time program at this rate...there are not just enough names...or Chad Morris at SMU or someone else is gonna make a lot of money...how great would it be to be 35 years old and cash in."McShay: "The Tom Herman's, Scott Frost's. Schools are smart when they take a little bit of a chance on a young guy who connects with the players, can recruit, has the energy, has proven they can get it done offensively but they are not just about a scheme. They're about running the program and recruiting. It's tough...I see these coaches year-round on their phones texting, social media and it never ends."Russillo: "Most of them hate it by the way..."McShay: "Would you like it? You are catering to 17-18 yr olds..."Russillo: (Throws out some funny young hip lingo reference)McShay: "I am 40 and I don't know what that means...."Segment ends.
  11. Same offense but more hat on hat focus so they can be more physical. All of the 3 back sets, triple option, play action out of the triple option, bubble screens, seam passes, inside zones, etc, are all the same offense. He doesn't go anywhere near as fast at UCF as he did at Oregon.
  12. And its not like they decided to have a kid when he became a head coach....oh, wait..... So head coaches can have children?
  13. Coach Frost is really smart and will say all of the right things. You will continue to see the regular coach speak about not leaving, building a winner...blah, blah. They always leave.
  14. You need work on your reading comprehension. I said nothing about them not having won games. It said it was like......
  15. Reports of leaving Houston are 'absolutely' false, Tom Herman says
  16. I get a kick out of how giddy and excited UCF fans are. It's like they discovered the joys that life can have with a good football coach for the first time in their lives. https://ucf.forums.rivals.com/threads/football-excellence-fund-not-just-for-big-donors.54302/ I also have to laugh at their attempt to raise money and hope people will spend money each month to this fund. They only get around 30k people that go to a game and their stadium need major repairs. They can try and raise the salaries of the coaches and Nebraska will just come in with a bigger number. All they are doing is increasing the amount we have to spend to get them.
  17. Yeah, and the AD was said to be between Long, the guy at Iowa State and the guy at Oregon. When they say something is to happen, and you bet the opposite, you will be right more often than they are. So thank you, Todd, now I have even more confident of Frost coming to Nebraska.
  18. Remember last year when there as a rich alumni booster at Houston that said he would pay Tom Herman's salary personally in order to keep him? He still left to Texas. These coaches that get big P5 offers always end up leaving their G5 school no matter what they say in the papers or in front of a phone or microphone. They always leave. Why the #$%^ would they not? Think about it. Frost will leave at the first big offer no matter what he says in public. You notice that Frost has not said one single word in the public about the Nebraska fan chatter? He knows it is active.
  19. The stats show this is a bottom tier team. The eye test says the same thing.
  20. I have been saying start out at $5M with the first offer the entire time. He is a bright coach and those coaches do not come cheap after they have shown what they can do. Frost's staff is not going to come with a cheap price tag and I am perfectly fine with that. Saban gets $11M per year now.
