  1. Nor are guys who are 6/7-win guys at a certain school yet expected to be 9-win guys at a new school that has "better resources"
  2. I'm from South Louisiana and kids/parents LOVE him. He is sincere, knows how to connect with people, and is a good motivator.
  3. Oh, that goes without question. If he can somehow bring in his brother Vance, look out!
  4. The more I hear from supposed "insiders" about who TA's top targets are, the more I hope that Mickey Joseph is successful. At least he can recruit and has connections to solid coordinators.
  5. I've always heard that Frost has a big ego and is arrogant and somewhat narcissistic. Not sure if it's true or not, but it's definitely been out there.
  6. Oh, there are way more than that... Urban Meyer Troy Calhoun Bill O’Brien Mickey Joseph Bob Stoops Mark Stoops Tom Herman Luke Fickell Dave Doeren Jamey Chadwell Todd Monken Craig Bohl Matt Rhule Jeff Monken Lane Kiffin Jim Leonhard Chris Petersen Gary Patterson Lance Leipold Chris Klieman Dave Clawson Sam Pittman Alex Grinch Bret Bielema Kyle Whittingham Mike Gundy Dave Aranda Deion Sanders Matt Entz Dana Holgorsen Pete Golding Brent Vigen Curt Cignetti Shawn Clark
  7. Yeah but the question is who that #1 choice is. It will quite possibly be a guy that nobody else is interested in. If you're happy with 6-8 wins a year and just being average, then go ahead and hire a guy like Klieman/Campbell/Leipold.
  8. I personally don’t see him bailing until he reaches the summit. Once that peak has been reached, he moves on. That’s why I’d like to see Herman as his OC/head coach in waiting. Of course, Herman may have higher aspirations.
  9. Perhaps, but some have better chances than others.
  10. I wish Mickey would've bought him a bus or plane ticket to the destination of his choice. Doubtful, but that's what I'm hoping for. He also likely knows some other top coordinators from past gigs. Personally I hope he'll bring in Orgeron, simply for his recruiting ability.
  11. This is billion-$ business. The bottom line is winning games and making as much profit as you can. Being a nice guy or having strong character has nothing to do with it.
  12. The problem with that is that guys like that are few and far between. It's hard enough finding a coach who could be successful here, let alone one who has the qualities you mentioned and the integrity/character that Trev wants.
  13. Truth. But that won't matter, because he doesn't match the integrity of this great state.
  14. I'm really pulling for Mickey (for his recruiting ability alone), and want to see him succeed, but let's be real: he's in a very tough predicament. They'll be 1-3 after Saturday, and would need to win 5 of 8 just to become bowl eligible. If he can somehow pull off a miracle and get this team back on track and winning, then he definitely deserves a shot. But if not -- Meyer is far and away my top pick. As for Aranda, he was LSU's DC on their national championship-winning team in 2019, and that earned him quite a bit of recognition & attention.
  15. None of them do. This is big $ business nowadays and all that matters is winning and profits. If you're looking for a top-tier coach with strong morals and ethics, good luck.
  16. The key word here is "probably." We can't afford to risk it on "probably." People thought that Riley would "probably" do well here due to the increased amount of resources at his disposal. I'm not sold on Campbell. He's had as many disappointing losses as he's had remarkable wins.
  17. the only elite coach we have a shot at is Urban Meyer and it’s highly doubtful that Trev will even reach out to him because he doesn’t have Nebraska values
  18. Both of the guys you mentioned went to LSU where it is extremely easy to locate talent. Nebraska doesn’t have that luxury. You really think Campbell can lure elite recruits to Lincoln? I don’t.
  19. His record in the Big 12 is 44-34. He’s defeated some good teams but also has also lost to some bad ones. Also 1-6 all-time vs. Iowa. That’s not “great” or “10 best” in my opinion.
  20. If there's one guy, other than Nick Saban, who I know for certain is not coming here, it's Luke Fickell. Might as well get that thought out of your mind now and save yourself the disappointment later. I don't think anyone hates him. He's a good, not great, coach and he's a safe hire. I think many just feel that we can do better.
  21. Not sure why Gundy isn't being mentioned more. He'd definitely be on my short list. Maybe he'll have someone put a bug in Trev's ear.
