My question is, if he's retained and asked to make staff changes.... what kind of coach is going to want to come here, knowing that it might possibly only be for one year? We're in a tough spot -- can't fire him unless you have a splash hire 100% guaranteed. In my opinion, if you reach out to Chadwell, and he's interested, you gotta let Frost go. Otherwise, someone else is gonna snag him.

Nebraska looks sedated in games with morning kickoffs. It’s been that way for quite some time. They always come out sluggish and uninspired. A part of me wishes that Frost would just come to an agreement on a buyout (ala Orgeron) and admit that despite his best efforts he’s just not getting it done and that Nebraska deserves better. Our current recruiting class is atrocious so it’s not like we have to worry about top guys rescinding their commitments if he leaves.

The more I think about it the more I think he’ll be given his 5th year. That way, no one can claim we made a hasty decision and we’re so close to rounding the corner. But let’s say he gets Year 5 and then finishes with 6 wins… will that be considered progress? I say if we finish with 3 or 4 wins, and a guy like Chris Petersen or Jamey Chadwell is interested, you’ve gotta pull the trigger.

I can guarantee it won’t be Tucker; the LSU fans would revolt. It’s also someone currently in playoff contention. My guess is Fickell or Aranda

We’ll just have to agree to disagree. This same stuff has been going on for 4 seasons, to the point that I - and many others - EXPECT the team to self destruct each week. Going to the 4Q against Minny, you just KNEW what was coming: another close, disappointing loss. Is that really what we want?

I felt that we were close to turning the corner, UNTIL the Minnesota game. That’s when I realized that with this staff, they’ll never get over the hump. Doing the same thing week after week and expecting a different outcome is insanity, yet that’s what our fan base is hoping for.

Can’t fire Frost unless you have his replacement already lined up and 100% confirmed. I’m guessing Trev has (or will very soon) sent out feelers to certain coaches he’s interested in. I say if Chadwell is interested, you snag him while you can; otherwise someone else will. I think we’ll find out the interest of other coaches based on whether or not Frost is retained. If we finish with 3 or 4 wins and Frost is retained, that tells me that none of Trev’s targets were interested.

Troy Calhoun is always on my coaching wish list but it seems like I’m the only one who ever mentions him. Chadwell and Calhoun would probably be my top 2 choices

Only reason I mentioned him is because he expressed interest in coaching here in the past… though I wouldn’t want him as a HC, I think he could help recruiting tremendously.

It used to be. We used to have high standards and refused to lower them, refused to accept excuses. Over the years that’s all faded… criticism is frowned upon, and you’re expected to just accept whatever product you get without complaint. Any fan who expresses the least bit of criticism is labeled a Negative Nancy/Debbie Downer and told to find a new team to cheer for. It’s sad.

His record is only 9-8 since winning the championship, and the LSU fan base is rabid. They expect to be competing for the playoff every season and nothing less is acceptable. Also rumors that he’s been hooking up with co-eds. Their top targets include Luke Fickell and Billy Napier.

Kiffin was born in Lincoln as well - he has tweeted about the Huskers in the past. Maybe he'd take a serious look, knowing that the path to the playoff is easier through the B1G than it is in the SEC.

LSU and USC (among others) will be aiming for Fickell. I don't see him as a realistic option.

The thing is, Rattler will be a hot commodity and will be able to hand-pick where he wants to go. He's going to choose a top contender, just like Hurts did when he transferred to OU. We might land a transfer QB, but it won't be Rattler.
