  1. I disagree with this. I think some of the guys on campus were just misused by the previous staff. Pernell Jefferson and Collin Miller - didn't these guys earn scout team MVP awards as pass rushers when they redshirted and then both got moved to inside LB the next year...?? And Guy Thomas, don't sleep on him.
  2. There are tons of guys on scholarship for OL. Frost & Co. addressed some of the biggest needs for this class right now. I can guarantee we'll see some good OL and DL in next year's class. For some reason it usually seems like linemen take longer to develop a relationship with in order to get a commitment. (in general, not always) This hurt us with the early signing period and coaching change this year. Next year will be different.
  3. He can't honestly think they're going to be good at football, can he? Herm Edwards trying to understand recruiting and coaching in college:
  4. Also, as far as bookends go: Guy Thomas, Pernell Jefferson, Collin Miller, etc. - we have guys that just need a chance and some coaching
  5. Pretty similar. He's a great pass rusher and strong at the point of attack. He might be more ready to go from day one than JJB. Tannor is a little shorter than JJB and maybe not as quick, but I think he'll do well. I think JJB's ceiling was a little higher as an OLB than Tannor's, but not by much. With JJB now going to be a DE at Ohio State, I think his ceiling is much lower.
  6. If Sampson has the grades, I wouldn't rule him out to just sign late, but if he had the grades I think he'd have a place somewhere right now.
  7. I've got to think we go after a JUCO DT, JUCO OT, and maybe a JUCO CB for next class. Obviously they haven't even gotten to spring ball, but from just looking at the roster right now, these look like areas that the team might need immediate impact players next year. Wouldn't be surprised to see a grad transfer or two either. I have no doubt this staff will line up tons of offensive skill players. I want to see what they can do in the trenches with a full recruiting cycle.
  8. So now hopefully Hunt, and then probably done for the day. I think we'll also see some transfers in & out later this semester.
  9. From a pure football perspective, I agree. However, coaching is far more than that. I like Nebraska's staff and that they seem to genuinely care about the players. A lot of college players aren't destined for the NFL, and I want to see these guys succeed in life after college as well.
  10. ...and for what it's worth, I think Nebraska is as good of a place as any to be recognized and make it to the NFL, I just don't think some recruits will see it that way until FROST & CO. get rolling
  11. This was in McKewon's article: Take it for what it's worth, but this seems to have been a big part of his decision...
  12. Most HS kids look at the past few years, so it very well could be.
  13. I think someone needs to calm down. It's not the University's fault that people are excited about Husker football again. (well, I guess it kind of is...) Should they have limited the season ticket holders to a number less than 20? Probably Do they have the right to buy tickets first since they give money and support the program? Of course Will there be tickets available for near face value? I'm sure there will be, if you're patient
  14. Palmer at 1:30 - likely NC State Washington at 1:45-2:00 - likely N Bell at 3:00 - likely ASU Hunt at 3:00 - likely N
  15. I don't think he's committed yet. I think that was Jarrett Patterson. Bell shows 3 p.m. CST
  16. I think he's a kid who can't tell anyone something that they don't want to hear. He's trying to please everyone. He'll learn someday that he can't.
  17. I don't think he had a clue where he wanted to go. He was leaning Nebraska but got scared that he couldn't make the NFL here, so he flipped to what he considered a safer bet at Ohio State. It might work out for him, I just think he'll be regretting this decision in a few years. GBR
  18. Sounds like his school cancelling classes due to a snowstorm hurt Nebraska here. Also sucks because Frost was told he was N, so he apparently told another player they were full (possibly Sargbah?)
  19. I would be shocked if Schiano is still at OSU past spring ball.
  20. Clark was already in. Tannor, Taylor, and Canty make 22 for the class. I still think Washington and Hunt both, and would still like to see a surprise. Frost said 24-27, we'll see where they end up.
  21. I want to see Palmer shock everyone and be N. He's a legit CB.
  22. I just think he's a much better fit in a 3-4 as an OLB rather than a 4-3 as a DE. They're talking he needs to add 30-50 pounds to play DE at OSU. If he added 10-20 pounds of muscle, with his skill set, he could have been a beast in a 3-4. Oh well, maybe he'll do fine there. I'm excited to see Tannor in that spot.
  23. Definitely. He went after guys that he mostly already had some relationship with, or top guys that were looking at other teams with coaching changes (along with some studs considering top programs). The organization this staff showed over the past 2 months is amazing. There are only a few recruits that could be considered "reaches" and even then, those guys all fit in a position of need that had to be addressed.
