  1. Max and Bryce didn't do their jobs and as a result, the first year players have been the escape goats. Suddenly now that it's warmed up these two have decided to give a little effort. We've witnessed it in football for years, we saw it in this years mens BB and now we're seeing it in baseball. In every profitable men's sport the returning players wait until it's too late before they decide to perform. In football, leaders just quit and move on. Anderson and Matthews will do the same. Disgusting examples of playing for a team, of leading and leadership but mostly just more evidence of lacking effort. Both should have been sitting the bench after their first 10 game performances and the younger players should have been given the starts. The results couldn't have been any worse. Absolute disgusting display by those 2 players. Obvious attitude issues from both.
  2. I find myself asking why and the only answer I can offer is focus. Max and Bryce (the leading error maker) have zero excuses for the shameful display of play in the first half of the season. What it shows is lack of care. They simply weren't wanting to perform and weren't trying to better the team. It's warmer now and I guess they've decided that baseball is fun again. I'm so frustrated with this elitist attitude of our men's programs.
  3. Not to mention also, Thompson reminds me a lot of AM... he throws into some very scary fronts. I agree with the O-line issues but the depth of our LB corp might mask some of the D-line depth issues. If the D-line finds a solid anchor at nose then I think it will be a pleasant surprise. IMO, when looking at the schedule I simply can't see how we don't win a minimum of 6 games and if we are 6-6 going into the bowls, we should be favored in the bowl game too. Gotta win the first one though. (My 6 wins) Northwestern North Dakota Georgia Southern Indiana Illinois Minnesota My toss ups: Rutgers (road) Purdue (also road) Wisconsin (at home)
  4. Why is Whipple the one recruiting him? Are we looking at him as a receiver?
  5. Someone today at work told me he thinks the players have quit on Bolt.. My response was, winners don't quit they focus, they improve, they try harder and often the results don't improve but the fortitude shows in the efforts. This team is not showing that fortitude. It might be expected by a first year player but not 2nd and 3rd year players. I agree with you @FrantzHardySwag not a single given position should be awarded in 2023. Scrap it all and tell them, perform or sit.. simple as that.
  6. The ability of this team to hit in one game and then forget how to hit in the next 5 games amazes me. My question is, might that be a result of lacking in leadership? I know Indiana is near the bottom of the league in pitching but still.. it makes zero sense to me. There's absolutely NO urgency in the program and I'm not sure I like the lackadaisical attitudes I'm seeing. As a fan I can tolerate a down season when there is clearly an effort to improve but I'm not seeing that from this team and these players and I believe that exemplifies the lack of leadership. Am I wrong?
  7. I've been following and went to 2 games (Pat's his own back )
  8. lol... I know the "excuse" silliness. That said, do you make those tin foil hats? They might come in handy someday
  9. I know this sounds like an excuse but personally I think some of the issues is out of frost and companies control. I honestly don't believe the B1G wants to continue a relationship with Nebraska and the bias in the officiating has had negative affects. Wisconsin game last year, Michigan game last year, etc... Remember the Northwestern game when we doubled their offensive output and lost the game all while having over 20 holding penalties thrown.
  10. Well, at least Bolt & Company are putting our youth out there for experience. Sometimes you take a step back to take two steps forward. Keep building the arms, don't shy away from playing our freshman and keep coaching them up. We fans will wine but there's time. A power program of substance is patient.
  11. BIG announcers are as lacking as BIG umpiring. Not sure who these guys are but both are horrendous.
  12. I like the TBD I think it's this way because Bolt is considering a double header day. Friday's weather is dependent on how quickly Lincoln's skies clear. So there's a strong possibility of a Saturday Doubleheader. Not ideal with the spring game going but could be better then upper 30's and cold north winds.
  13. Here's me thinking first pitch tonight won't get thrown. High winds and low temps will likely cancel tonight's game. Maybe they move the start time for us and we get it in. Say 5:30 first pitch
  14. No, I think it's both. The veteran bats are waking up. The young sticks are becoming more relevant as they begin to settle in. Yes, OSU is struggling and the umpiring this weekend hurt both staffs though the the huskers came threw better.
  15. I think it's a little of both. Bolt & Company have recruited well... . The talent is there. It's young but it's there
  16. Pulled out the brooms.. Huskers Win!!!
  17. And now the for the second time this weekend OSU head coach is thrown out. B1G umpiring is one reason the conference struggles to get good ooc opponents. Umpiring in the B1G is atrocious!!
  18. 3 straight walks (1 hbp) to start the 7th for the huskers.
  19. 248 total combined pitches thru 6 innings. We all know that's entirely too many. It ruins the game when pitchers can't find an umps out pitch and batters look for walks
  20. I'm listening on the radio... The announcers are not fans of this ump. I mean OSU with 140 TP thru 6... That's a shoe box zone. Huskers are at 93 TP with 1 out in the 6th.
  21. Jelkin in for McCarville to start the bottom of 5th. McCarville throws 71 pitches... Gives up 3 runs
  22. This plate ump... OSU at 110 TP and still not out of 5th McCarville has thrown 71 thru 4 innings
  23. Time to start the turn around. A sweep would be a great start. Go Big Red!!!
  24. Come on Husker Nation!!! Our boys are 500 in conference play!! Our pitching is improving!! Our defense is getting better!! Our bats are slowly (dreadfully slow) starting to come around. Don't give up on them!!! 2:00 pm first pitch. Let's get the series!!! I won't be able to post game details today so I'm hoping someone will!! GO BIG RED!!!!
