  1. or, if the rumored amount of 4.1 mill per year is true.. work for 4 and retire with 16 mill... who the heck wouldn't take that?
  2. keeping my head in the sand.. and now wondering, even if he isn't leaving/decides to stay, surely this will not result in tarnishing his image within Husker Nation will/would it?
  3. I think Trev hasn't announced anything yet that I can find so I'm going to put my head in the sand and not believe this.
  4. @whateveritis1224 Situational decision. They wanted a left on left matchup. Also, by announcing the pitching change to a lefty with 2 outs and the opponent chasing runs, it might result in the opponent also going to their bench for a right-handed batter which thereby could remove the lefty bat from the game. WSU trusted the hitter and he came through. That's baseball. That's the chest match and in that exact scenario most staffs would do exactly what Bolt & Staff (Childress) did.
  5. Lastly, think the PAC 12 was surviving in it's current state.. Think again.. Numbers don't lie, the conference was in financial ruin and it's showing. (LINK)
  6. and... Not to get anyone's hopes up but there's this also: (LINK) If this prediction holds.. we can bank on at least a regional. Win the conference and maybe a Super... gotta stay focused and keep winning though.
  7. And... Let's check in on the conference RPI as a whole.. there's one hugely glaring stat.. can you find it? (LINK)
  8. Fingers crossed... the storms must have slowed the eastward travel over the rockies. I know that Denver is expected to have blizzard conditions but I forget if it's tomorrow or Thursday.. Regardless... let's get 2
  9. Bottom of the 8th 8-3 still, 6 more outs and call it gravy
  10. And they answered in the top with 1 run... Bottom of 7 with a 5 run lead .. 8-3 good guys
  11. Watching on ESPN+ and gotta say, I've always liked WSU color scheme on the uni's. Walsh looking good.. lets hope it continues edit: side note, Ryder a 2-9 team just took down the #6 team in the country (Duke) 6-2
  12. So, last night as I was watching the oogles of Basketball being played in preparation of bracketology my head, in it's stupidness, pondered how (if I could) would I bring more fairness to northern schools in baseball. I went through it in my head as well as I could. From starting the season mid-March vs mid-February but that wouldn't be enough on its own so I thought, let's incentivize travel to the northern schools by adding quad like points but quickly scratched that idea. So, still including a Mid-March start I then though "ok" lets limit the amount of teams one conference can place in the field of 64 to (6 max). I could live with that though it might come back and bite Nebraska in the butt. (not likely as rarely will the B1G get to that number right?) umm... wait, USC/Oregon/Washington/UCLA and possibly/probably Notre Dame not to mention, maybe Florida State and either Miami or Clemson.. Yeah... scratch the 6 team idea. In fact, scratch it all and keep it as is but then, something from nowhere hit me.. A light bulb flashed and I was like.. Oh wow, this could work however, the SEC is not going to like it. (but then when do they ever like anything they didn't think of, right?) So, to begin, lets scratch the Mid-March idea as well. I think everyone involved in d1 baseball likes the season ending when it currently does so players have a little time off, they then travel out to a developmental league for a few weeks and return to start the fall session of college. Starting in Mid-March just doesn't make sense. Instead and because it appears the mid-feb start is in concrete and northern schools will need to travel south, schedules will still favor the southern home schools. However, if you can't make changes to the "Regular Season", look elsewhere, to the "Post Season". Instead of forcing northern schools to travel to all these awarded southern school locations to faceoff against hostile home crowds curtail the playoffs to a "Mason/Dixon" type line. Teams south of the line from coast to coast travel the southern regionals and likewise, teams from north of the line travel to northern regionals. That equates to 8 regionals in the south, 8 in the north. Then take it another step further and keep 4 super regionals in each group of above/below the line and reshuffle the seatings as to avoid rematches if/when possible. Now, 4 winners from north of the line proceed to the CWS, 4 from below the line proceed to the CWS. The CWS play Day 1 Play: #1 vs the #4 and #2 vs #3 seated teams of the north group. Day 2 Play: #1 vs the #4 and #2 vs #3 seated teams of the south group. Day 3 Play: Day 1 winners face off followed by Day 1 losers (1 team is eliminated) Day 4 Play: Day 2 winners face off followed by Day 2 losers (1 team is eliminated) Now is where the ultimate fairness comes in. The 2 win teams of the above and below get a buy as would be expected. The losers of the winners brackets swaps brackets. (This gives them an opportunity to meet the winner of their original bracket in the championship) Day 5: Swap occurs, loser bracket winner vs loser in the winners bracket. (2 games, total also creating 2 teams elimination) Day 6: Semi Finals, Day 2 winner vs loser bracket winner (2 games) Day 7: if needed, rematch from day 6 games to meet double elimination requirements. Day 8 Championship Game 1 Day 9 Championship Game 2 Day 10 if needed, Championship Game 3
  13. @teachercd Thank You and gotta agree with you.. class all the way!
  14. Honestly, I think both programs will throw everything they have at this setting because it doesn't appear we'll have a game tomorrow. (Unless the start time is moved up) I expect it to be a very, VERY difficult game to win and the way the infield defense has performed of late it might be a long night the huskers even if overbeek gets the start at 3rd. Wichita's team stats are very solid: Team BA @ .286, OPS .854 and SLG% at .452. Defensively, Team ERA 3.83, Whip at 1.24 and Opponent BA .286 Nebraska's Team stats in comparison: BA @ .294, OPS @ .908 and SLG% at .510. Defensively, Team ERA 4.64, Whip at 1.35 and Opponent BA .294 Fielding % for the huskers is has looked bad but actually is pretty solid even with the 5 errors Sunday.. Wichita St @ .970 (showing holes) Huskers @ .978 (slipped this weekend).. If Wichita State jumps to an early lead we likely don't win. If we get to the late innings with the lead or trailing by less than 2 runs then I'm confident we can win. The middle innings are going to be hard fought by both clubs and it wouldn't surprise me if we see a weekend arm or two thrown out there by Wichita State as this is matchup is more important for them. Gotta get this first one then have fun tomorrow and try to sweep but dang nabbit get tonight's dub first!!
  15. Got a link? I'd like to hear what he said
  16. This (moving the season start to march) won't help northern schools. The biggest issue with north conference baseball is the lack of promotion. In the south and southwest baseball is a year round sport. (well, almost) It's promoted in the south much more than the north for several reasons. MLB spring ball is in the south. Weather in the south is more suited for baseball than in the north. Attendance at all levels in the south is higher than the north. (some of that has to do with lack of media exposure in the north). So just moving the start of the season won't help northern schools. The southern schools, especially now with NIL cost issues, will not travel (or only rarely travel) north for home & home match ups. The issue with Division 1 baseball fairness is, like it or not, money driven. The money in the sport is in the warm weather climates and the cold weather climate conferences just don't have any interest in investing in the sport. Now, if by moving the season start to March creates incentive for north conferences to invest and they actually do invest, then yes.. Move the start but and however, until the north conferences (especially the B1G) actually show investment, the start will change simply won't happen nor would it benefit us in the north if it did happen. The theory of.. "start the season later in the spring to make it more fair to the north" is simply not truth. and.. My reaction to the poll is a sounding NO.. Give the young athletes the summer to play camp ball and get away from college. They deserve to have a summer break just like the rest of college students so my vote would be no.
  17. And after Sunday's games the Huskers sitting at 3
  18. I was there. I heard a lot of "again" and "ugh" comments. The crowd though was in the game. Hay Market is awesome, especially for kids. First, about Horn... Freshman jitters but in all pitched well enough. Infield can't keep making these mistakes. It's cost us twice and nearly did again. Carey is to hot and cold and his errors are simply unexcusable. Either tell him to fix his focus or sit for a game or two. Stone's error happened on a player playing out of position so fans can live with that. Carey on the other hand, just no!! Pitching is ok.. sears should be moved to Friday, Christo to Saturday. (I think Sears handles stress better.) Overall, I greatly enjoyed the pings of the bats, the rally, eating peanuts and my buddy heckling me thru the first 3 innings. The biggest positive for me today is... I was at the ballpark eating hotdogs and yelling at umps.. Good win in spite of my jinx. Bolt was not happy with defense in the first and he did have some choice words with the fellas. That's baseball baby and it was GOOD!!! HUSKERS WIN & take the series. Old man me can sit back and enjoy the rest of the day. Bolt & Company.. Thank You for the near heart attack multiple times but also for just never giving in. Two more this midweek baby and I'm anxiously waiting.
  19. Yep, I actually expected this.. sitting here and watching our guys warm up.. They didn't come in to win a game. I think most would rather be home playing video games. Pathetic start on series win day. I think I'm a jinx as every time I'm at hay market it seems the team plays way below their potential. Buddy sitting beside me just told me he thinks maybe I should leave. lol Ugh!!!! Come on guys, no 6 run inning please
  20. Jaz is insane in the clutch.. Wow did she game the 4th... Congrats to the Lady Huskers!! Headed to the Championship game!!
  21. Huskers were punched in the mouth. They came in unfocused.. and frail. Christo showed again he can't pitch when the going gets tough. Huskers needed this wake up. Maybe tomorrow they'll actually show some fight. Time will tell. Contrats to South Bama coming in here and showing fearlessness.
  22. Even the announcers on BTN+ are wondering how a strike, an obvious strike, can be a ball.. smh!!
  23. I enjoy wrestling, was a state qualifier 3 of 4 years in high school. (best finish 5th @ 119) Wrestling however is not a profitable sport. Not even in Iowa is it a profitable sport. Baseball on the other hand can be "if" there was only a little effort put forth by the conference but they instead push a "fairness" agenda in spring saying there's just not enough viewers to promote every spring sport so instead of focusing on one (like they do in the fall & winter, football & basketball respectively). The promote a fairness schedule of sports that have a small number of viewers. I will credit the B1G for change as they did over the last two fall seasons program more volleyball which was fun to see. So change can happen. Baseball could and should be the primary spring sport and the rest of the programing sprinkled in. Midweek & weekends should have 2 games each day. So 2 on Tuesday & Wednesday (4 total), 2 on each of the weekend dates (6 total). Thats 10 conference games weekly. There is 8 weeks of conference play equating to 60 games that could be programmed. In those 8 weeks they could program the midweek schedules as well resulting in 32 midweek games. In total, before conference tournament play begins that would equate to 92 games... Guess what conference has made "that" commitment? Edit.. Remember also, some of those lost potential revenue games could be programmed by Fox Sports or even, dare I say it, the "P" word?
  24. Thanks @Mavric Going to be a cold one in Lincoln today. Personally, I'm hoping to get to lincoln for Sunday's game. Working Saturday so I can't make that one. Need a home sweep. Hope the men are focused and ready to roll. GBR!!!
  25. Hate to admit this but I think the whole of Husker nation is collectively holding their breath in waiting to see if Nebraska can earn the double-by at the B1G tourney. Bench is going to be huge in this game.. Wilcher, dude.. Hope you have your best game ever!!

They pulled it off in spades! I love seeing Husker basketball relevant.

@TonyStalloni As do I and everyone on Huskerboard. Was so relieved though when the score was out of reach for Michigan.
