  1. I think JoePa said the goal line stand last year against Illinois (I think it was Illinois?) springboarded their team into this year. It didn't seem like a big deal at the time but it gave the team confidence. Maybe the KState GW field goal was that springboard for this team. Also, we have a gritty senior leader at QB coming back (a la Michael Robinson). Callahan may not be as stylish as JoePa , but I think we very well could be next year's Penn St.
  2. Didn't we do this for one of the games this year. TTech maybe? It would be interesting to see, but usually you need a big time DT to plug the middle in a 3-4 defense, and I don't know if Ola, Cryer or Suh are ready for that sort of thing. Who knows.
  3. Yikes. That Ruud guy was pretty good. Demorrio wasn't to bad either. McKeon will continue to improve so he may surpass these guys but not yet. I agree. Ruud is atop the all time tackles list. If he's not the best Nebraska LB in the last 10 years, I don't know who is. Maybe not the most talented, but the stats don't lie. McKeon has a ways to go to be mentioned in the same breathe as Ruud, but he does have the potential.
  4. When did we become so paranoid about our coaching staff leaving? Maybe, just maybe, they enjoy coaching here at Nebraska and want to finish what they started.
  5. What are you even talking about? The Badgers handed it to Auburn and PSU beat FSU. The only teams from the Big 10 to lose to south schools during the bowls was Iowa and Northwestern. Are Auburn and FSU not "elite" south speed teams? Did you not see OSU play? They looked so freakin slow. Nice try. The last I checked, Auburn is not one of the elite, when was the last time they played for a NC??? FSU, yes is an elite school, but didnt they finish 7-5 this year. And it took Big 10 champ PSU 3 OTs to put away a 7-5 team. I wouldnt hang my hat on those 2 teams in this discussion. Georgia, an "elite" speed team from the south, got beat by West Virginia, a team many people had given no chance. Nebraska is by no means moving toward a "slower" big 10 style of play. Isn't Callahan adding to our team speed, if anything? Also, Auburn went undefeated last year in the "elite" southern conference. I would say they are one of the best southern teams out there this year again.
  6. Impressive kid. I think he'll be a great DT for us.
  7. His best bet is to play cornerback in college anyway, so I don't know what everyone is telling him he can be a running back for (probably just a recruiting ploy).
  8. Can't wait for Big 12 play to start...
  9. As the saying goes...There is no place like Nebraska. I think Cally will/already has realized he can be a coaching immortal if he builds this program to what it once was. I can't see why he would want to go back to the NFL after his first go around, but then again I'm wearing some heavily tented rose colored glasses.
  10. Also, Callahan wants his backs to be able to block out of the backfield. I think that was one of the main reasons we didn't see the younger guys as much as Ross this year. Once they figure out the blocking schemes and learn how to pick up a blitz, we will see a lot more of lucky/glenn.
  11. I would guess he is only a two star because the recruiting services simply haven't heard/seen enough of the kid. Several of our recruits this year have got ratings bumps after they commit to Nebraska, but we'll have to wait and see with this one.
  12. What about Tierre Green? I mean, he has found the field in his first two years at two different positions, I think he will find a way to get in there at safety (if he does end up switching positions) and will certainly contribute. The kid has athletic ability, no matter what position he plays.
  13. Definitely a four star prospect...
  14. Ok, officially, unofficially, whatever...AJ Wallace isn't coming to Nebraska in my opinion. Scout supports me in that it now shows us as low interest along with Florida State. I could be wrong but I think he has eliminated us. As for the linebackers, I never said we were done recruiting them. I just said Ron Paulo isn't coming. What other "sleepers" are we in on? LB should be the least of this staffs worries right now, with the young depth we have at that position.
  15. I don't think that Paulo is making a visit anymore. He has eliminated us from contention, at least according to Scout. This could be due to the Isaac situation and the already crowded linebacker spots. Ron Paulo Also, AJ Wallace has also officially eliminated us. What was a longshot is now a no shot. AJ Wallace Now it looks like Deas, Thenarse or Will Henry. Henry doesn't appear to have an offer from us yet, but most likely will get one during his visit (1/13). Will Henry
  16. Well...Niles Paul (Possible top 100 wr/s, Omaha North HS) committed, but he is for our 2007 class. As for this class, my best guess (which probably isn't very good and is only based on what i piece together) would be that Charles Deas and Ricky Thenarse are ours to lose. Deas may commit this weekend on his visit (I think its this weekend). However, I have heard rumors one or both of these guys may not qualify. Deas skipped his entire senior year of football to focus on his grades. Also, AJ Wallace looks to be a long shot, but with him who knows. Safety Greg Davis and several new QB prospects remain on the radar for Nebraska now. Danzell Isaac also looks like a probable commit.
  17. I think the first touchdown of the game. Zac took a big hit and delivered to Terrance who broke free for a big score. That set the tone and erased any doubts our players had of matching up with Michigan. For once, we set the tone early and didn't have to dig ourselves out of a 20+ point hole.
  18. I guess Nebraska will have to just keep winning without the support of Lou Holtz and Mark May.
  19. I tend to agree with this. I think Jackson was hurt for a lot of this year and never really got a chance to get going. He showed promise in his freshman year and I think he has great potential. However, I think that Lucky and Glenn (and possibly Kenny Wilson) will all get their chance to show what they can do. Our backfield is loaded with potential and I can't wait to see how this shakes out. B)
  20. Also, so much for the Big 12 North being the weak link and being "so down" this year. The north is now 3-2 with the losses coming to 2 top 25 teams by a total of 12 points combined.
  21. I saw Paul play basketball for North High School in the holiday tournament this year against Westside. He's not that big but he has some muscle to him. He looked athletic though and is a pretty good basketball player. Should be a good player for us in the future.
