  1. It gets less and less as yrs go by but roster depth across the board was rough last yr. kind of a valid excuse. I do think he had enough to get six wins, maybe 7 but not much more. I remember watching the Iowa game, 3rd & 8, inside our 20, thinking who the hell is AM going to throw to. Wasn’t another skill position person on the field that would play for most other big10 teams.
  2. It begins and ends up front of both sides of the ball. We haven’t had a dominate oline dline for 15 yrs. it’s been both a development and recruiting up issue. I believe Austin is the right guy and we are starting to recruit kids to the system. Same could be said about LSU, swap burrow with AM, AM there burrow here. This isn’t an AM issue as much as some want to believe. It’s a very simplistic narrow take.
  3. Bos recruiting classes weren’t much better....go back and look, especially towards the end. Most were around 40/60 or 30/70. It’s been a while folks.
  4. Bookie has been bagged on during every ou game I watched this season. Granted he’s only a soph so jury isn’t still out but dude is catching heat on what is a pretty awful defense. Tyjon didn’t do a whole lot in a pass happy offense, in a pass happy league. Hardly difference makers.
  5. Nicole Griffith, sports at 1011, is saying she’s talked to him and it was a medical decision. What the hell did that boy do to his leg, and how. Either that or maybe a congenital defect that went unnoticed?
  6. I don’t think anyone on here is a AM homer. All have acknowledged he took a step back. I would argue a whole lot more goes into interceptions and missed throws....wrs being where they should when they should be, creating separation, and an oline that provides time and windows to throw in. Again, was AM good, no, but he went as did much of the offense which was largely paced by an awful oline. ive also said, 18 AM was pretty neat for a frosh, hence the heisman hype.....I’ve yet to see that out of any member of the oline. That might explain why AM gets a little grace and benefit of the doubt with me vs, saying it was all on AM and the oline wasn’t as bad as I saw.
  7. Didn’t hear that one. Is that like the feelings and assumptions by many on this group thinking mccaffrey is light yrs ahead of AM on all of his 20 career attempts? The same assumption that he will lose to AM regardless of that because somehow AM is “frosts guys” but the other guys frost recruited aren’t “his” guys. I’m looking forward to the frost quote.
  8. I guess i didn’t know Warner wanted to get into coaching. Did he apply with frost or want the qb coach job. If not, then he should stfu or get his kid out of here.
  9. That literally wasn’t what I said. I said AM was not good. My larger point is it was a failure of 11 guys not one, AM doesn’t play in some sort of bubble. We’ve seen what good AM looks like, I’m still waiting to see what good Wilson or farniok looks like.
  10. If farniok and Wilson make two of the easier blocks I’ve seen against Purdue and Wisconsin that’s 12 td to 9 int. My point is not many ppl are saying AM had a good yr, the point is that his struggles were shared by failures across ALL players on offense. I’ve seen good AM, I have yet to see GOOD Wilson or farniok.
  11. Or an oline that misses an assignment, which happened often.
  12. First I’m pretty sure I said he didn’t play well last yr. I’ve also stated I’m in favor of a competition not just at qb but every position every yr. I’m just saying in a legitimate competition it is still AM to lose and no that’s not because he’s “frosts guy”. Pretty sure frost recruited vedral, mccaffrey, and smothers so they are all “frosts guys”. Question though. How difficult would it be to be qb in a system that has a limited rushing game, low trust in wrs to be where they are supposed to be, and an oline that provided some of the best look out blocks in the country last yr. all while doing this with an injured shoulder that required off season surgery. My point is we’ve seen good AM, outside of jd the wr group was meh, the rbs were new, and the oline had the usual suspects in Wilson, hixson, and farniok you could always see were out of position or we should have better at the position. I think it says a lot that a player in the two deep at guard chose to transfer to the talent that is coming up. so I’ve said AM didn’t play well, but that isn’t in a bubble. AM had an excellent frosh season, hence the heisman talk. The others around him were unproven or had proven they were lacking. Therefore, AM has a bit more rope than say hixson, Wilson, or say mike Williams. The bigger issue is we had more of the hixsons and the Williams on the field last yr with AM than the Sunday stans and oz’s of the previous yr.
  13. The offense consists of 11 people. He lost over half of the receiving threat and over 60-70% of the rushing threat plus three oline. That’s not, yeah whatever type loss. So why better. He should be healthier, with an established rb who came on last half of the season, better depth at Rb too. The wrs should see a huge jump in athleticism and depth should be much better. Biggest piece is the oline should be much better allowing for players to move into more natural positions. I believe farniok moves into guard, and Hixson and Wilson get pushed hard by several others for the last guard spot. Oline should be substantially better allowing AM more time to read, better throwing lanes, and wrs where they should be and not needing to focus in on 1-2 guys.
  14. AM didn’t play as well that is clear. He was also injured to a far greater extent than many of us gave him credit for. In addition, he was surrounded by far lesser athletes in yr two than yr one, with a far worse offensive line than the yr prior. I’m not sure I can name one offense, at any level, where you lose leading rusher, wr, and 3 starting oline and expect to be better. Add on to that through ‘19 season you lose jd, wandale, Warner, and Washington for some or most of ‘19.
  15. To these points AM also was playing healthy with a much better supporting cast than in 2019. He also ran the whole offense all game so has a much bigger sample size to analyze. Some husker fans are the best, trying to run off an actual preseason heisman candidate in favor of their self appointed one with less than 20 pass attempts, 0-1 record as a starter, and 4 games played in. Gotta love the offseason around here.
  16. So, just stating the facts. I too like his running ability, same as vedral, over AM. That running style and gameplan, while necessary, put both Luke and vedral on the bench nursing injuries after one game for 2-3 weeks. Not really a qb or system I think makes it the entire season. I like Luke and think he could very well be the best qb of the bunch in time, but in his freshman yr to make statement indicating he’s the best by far is a huge leap
  17. Cool, thanks for the response. Assumptions and a gut feeling then.
  18. There’s nothing, to lead you to that concern. If you have a few actual reasons I’d like to hear them. Crowning a kid that has yet to attempt 20 passes is the reasons we have washouts and busts. Let the kids develop, they all have work to do and let the winner come out on top. The way that whole freshman class was talking last yr I have a hard time thinking their not here for the long haul and to win some games... I’m talking luke, wandale, and Nelson for sure.
  19. Also, interesting, is a good amount of this board wants to crown mccaffrey as the hiesman winner 2020 but also thinks he’s not good enough or won’t beat AM or Smothers.
  20. How is he “finding out” in year 1.5 he is NEVER going to start ahead of AM and a kid that just stepped on campus 30 days ago. I realize it’s the off-season but Jesus. The idea he’s transfers came from where? That his daddy now coaches at a college, any college. What about Dylan, maybe they can both go back? Does Christian have any eligibility left? Is there a baby of the family? I heard, from a guy, that knows a girl, that saw her ex-husbands babysitters, boyfriend at 31 flavors last night that all our coaches are going to start recruiting on Mars for the next 7 star player. I know how cool. That rumor has as much truth to it as this one about mccaffrey.
  21. This is a ridiculous rumor. You are either a pwr five athlete that wants to compete at that level or you aren’t. I see no way this has any legs at all.
  22. Not sure if serious. If so, I’m so glad we have such reasonable, knowledgeable “fans” that can make a player assessment so quickly. Maybe a coaching spot is in your future.
  23. Don’t know if it shows it on this video but it was clearly PI, hand was on the back and pulling the wr down. The ref from the back is the one that threw the flag. So to be fair, I see this as an excuse. From bos vantage point he didn’t have the view of the PI, to that I agree, where I disagree is that gives him free reign to act like a toddler throwing a tantrum. BTW, agree to disagree that I, or many, of us would applaud frost for acting that way. I’ll say again, hometown announcers were asking for police to get him off the field.
  24. @GSG way more than one post making excuses for the toddler known as bo. Go look back over the LSU or this thread. Many blaming the ref or laughing it off. The re-writing of history that goes on in this board is crazy.
