  1. Again, you didn't watch the game apparently. Can't just take a snippet and broadly apply it. 28 extra free throw attempts for NC State helps
  2. You obviously didn't watch the game. Check the box score in the foul department. NC State gifted quite a lot
  3. Announcers, not surprisingly, incorrectly reported he was ejected. Poorly called game both on the floor and tv... I'm amazed our guys are still fighting for a win, previous teams would've given up by now. Encouraging sign for the rest of the year, need the win though.
  4. Oklahoma and ethics are contradictory.
  5. Besides UConn and new coaches taking some old assistants with them, where are you seeing official assistant hiring announcements nationwide? Seems to be a lot of fear of the unknown right now. Just need to be patient and news will be made within a day or two I’d bet.
  6. Patience, patience. I haven’t seen too many hired assistant coaches yet from across the country (UConn hiring a few is the only story I found in a quick search). I’d expect us to have something official for at least a couple open spots within 24-48 hours. I’d assume most college football programs are evaluating/interviewing quite a bit right now.
  7. Notre Dame might be in the playoff regardless. But yes, no doubt crazy
  8. That’s part of the reason few, if any schools, have announced official assistant coaching hires yet. With everything going today, I think everyone is evaluating on the fly. I’d expect to see a handful of spots being filled across the country tomorrow and a lot more as the week goes along. Next week could be another free for all.
  9. Really comes down to the offensive line. If they can reduce penalties and get a push, lanes open up and we can churn out first downs. No improvement and we’re back to hoping for home runs every drive instead of controlling the clock and game tempo.
  10. Thank you, here’s to making 2022 better. GBR
  11. I wasn’t focusing on 30 years ago (pre-BCS I guess). I was making the point that changing conferences has more than just a little impact on a program’s “direct success.” Outside of additional money, only a few schools have improved, sustainable on-field results after changing. And none of those have won a league title since VA Tech did after they realigned in the mid-2000s. As for Oklahoma specifically, I think it will be difficult to maintain 10 wins a year or 75-80% of the years when only Alabama and Georgia have consistently been able to reach that feat in the SEC. I think they will more likely be an 8-5 program (like Texas A&M) than they are to continue to match an Alabama (10+ wins every year).
  12. When did I say Oklahoma was slipping to the “dark days”? I didn’t so don’t put words in my mouth. My point, again for you, is that changing conferences has a significant impact on a program’s direct success more often than not. Have to go back to VA Tech in the ACC to find the last team to switch conferences and win the conference title. Maybe you had a little too much koolaid this weekend but you’re statements of what I said are entirely inaccurate and I would appreciate it if you read what is written before spinning it to fit what you think you’re reading. Thank you.
  13. Again, we were playing in the conference title game two years before leaving and the second year after leaving. Mizzou played in the SEC title game in year two. Those by definition were “title conference contenders” by literally contending in the conference championship game. Oklahoma has been more consistent the past 20 years. That part isn’t being disputed. What I was disputing was your contention that changing conferences has little/limited “direct impact on program success” as a wildly incorrect take. If you believe Oklahoma will carry this same level of success (10+ wins every year) in the SEC, I have an Oceanside condo in Gering to sell you. thanks pal!
  14. @Hedley Lamarr, Agreed though I’m not sure which to let go (or move to an analyst role). Dawson seems more likely though I can’t help but wonder if the defensive side is all staying or if they’re sniffing around other places as well.
  15. Any word on defensive staff staying in tact? If Fisher gets pulled away to another school, the natural thing for us would be to slide Busch in as ST coordinator and secondary coach, no? Can Ron Brown coach special teams? Joe Ganz?
  16. Agreed 100%. Go from the top of the food chain to being among a handful of equals. I’d have to imagine Oklahoma and Texas will get a bit of a raw deal with scheduling for awhile too.
  17. Dude, you’re creating the narrative you want to believe and that’s fine. Please don’t pass it on as fact. For the bolded… which conference has Oklahoma played in the past ten years? Could it be the same division and conference you belittled Nebraska for going 10-4 consistently? Oklahoma is a good program and wins consistently but, let’s not reduce conference realignment to having just a little “direct impact on program success.” To do so would be wildly ill-advised without evidence to the contrary. No P5 program that changed conferences has won a title in their respective conference the past ten years. I believe that is enough of a sample size to emphasize a significant impact.
  18. Lol we played for the Big 12 title in the two years before we left and played in the Big Ten title game in year two. Please stop.
  19. Overhyping? I don’t recall any P5 school winning a conference title yet, let alone playing for a national title. We were a conference title contender switching, Missouri played for the SEC title their second year, Colorado made a splash too. To say conference realignment doesn’t affect program success is ignorant at best.
  20. I’m not sure about the dark ages exactly, but they certainly could fall back towards the Texas A&M level (#15-25 in the polls but probably not top ten) until they adjust. All teams that switched conferences had some early success but changed coaches within three or so years. None have won their conferences yet that I remember. Will be interesting to watch as they go from shot callers in the Big 12 to rank and file in the SEC.
  21. Will be interesting to see if we get back in the mix with him after Oklahoma's staff upheaval. Would be a nice addition for us but not sure we would even be considered.
  22. Applies to nearly every school that has switched conferences in the past 10-12 years. I don’t think any team that switched conferences has been in the playoff (so far as I can remember). None have kept their head coach beyond three or so years as that on field success was fleeting in most cases. Changing conferences affects more than just the helmets, jerseys and game locations. Whole bunch of dynamics are affected, especially recruiting and learning the nuances of other teams/coaches in the league.
  23. They are certainly working the portal. I do not recall hearing any firm transfer portal destinations for any players or teams yet. Pretty safe to assume every team in the country is watching and connecting with potential options to add players. Not sure on Snyder jumping from special teams coach to head coach at Nebraska. Would help the staff for sure, but unsure if he’d be interested or not at this point. My opinion is biased (obviously) but I think we may be an attractive opportunity for several assistants. Anyone who watched our players this year can see that we have the talent, size and speed to win a lot. And with a relatively low bar to get over next year, a competent C to C+ season (6 wins) and they lock in another year or two. B to B+ season (8 wins?) and they solidify 2-3 years at least. Add in a favorable schedule and we are a great opportunity. Will be a fascinating off-season across the country with so many coaching changes happening.
  24. Not re-writing history, just old enough to remember. Stanley Morgan, Davis twins, Dedrick Young, Stoltenberg were Pelini recruits that Riley's staff held onto. Go back and check if you'd like but please don't give Riley more credit that he deserves. Remember how big that Cali-braska "movement" was supposed to be? The only two players that contributed anything of note from that were Lamar Jackson and Marquel Dismuke. Needless to say, the effort was a failure. They struck out so often and stuck us with a poor roster which has finally cycled out.
  25. Yes to your question. The bold applies to 75% of the Big Ten coaches. Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan State have coaches that are good enough to not beat themselves, but none will be national title contenders anytime soon and none are likely to win a conference title. They play just good enough to beat most teams in their divisions but none have been impressive as pure coaches. If they had Ohio State's roster, I don't know that these coaches are good enough to win it all. However, you put Ohio State's roster at Northwestern or Purdue and either of those coaches can be dangerous. Brohm makes some boneheaded moves but the dude elevates his team and Fitzy has done so for the longest time. Only a handful of "elite" coaches in the conference.
