  1. Klieman currently has 3 qb’s in the league. How many other coaches not named Nick Saban can say that right now?
  2. This was always the answer, no matter how much fans thought otherwise.
  3. Ah yes the bowl that we got to play in even though we had a losing record because there weren't enough eligible teams that year.
  4. ^^^ You don’t wanna see it.
  5. Urban commanded more $ than Trev wanted to spend . Trev moved onto Rhule. Turns out Trev couldn’t get Rhule for the bargain price he had hoped. Then Trev came to his senses and thought man if I’m gonna have to spend $15 million a year on a coach and assistants maybe I should just go back to my top choice. That’s what I’ll tell myself anyway.
  6. It's one thing to not lock yourself into a huge guaranteed contract with a HC that may or may not pan out. Assistants are arguably as important as HC. I would also argue that one of the biggest contributors to Frost's demise was that he attached himself to a lot of poor assistants. If this is true, I would be very dissapointed.
  7. Exactly. I’d be very surprised if he wasn’t retained, it seems like a no-brainer.
  8. A poster on another board claimed that Rhule has already met with Glen Thomas, current OC at Arizona State. As for the above article about Busch, I really think he deserves/needs to be retained almost as much as Mickey. Our special teams have done s complete 180 under Busch. Also I would think they’d keep one guy for in state recruiting and he would be great for that as well.
  9. I believe it would be Rhule holding up the process. He can make $36 million over the next 4 years or not. He’s probably asking for a lump dump payment from Carolina and then a certain salary from Nebraska so he could say make $55 million over that time. Carolina may be low balling him on his payout and Nebraska may not be willing to pay what it would take to make up the difference. I’m just throwing numbers out but I believe that’s probably the situation in a nutshell.
  10. Sure. I was simply saying that I would hope that we would not limit the new coach with a budget in regards to his staff. If for example Rhule is the guy, and you have a chance to get Elijah Robinson from A&M, you do it even it costs you $1million a year.
  11. That may be true in regards to head coaches, but assistants are a different ballgame in my opinion. The staff we had under Frost for the most part was a complete joke and it showed. I mean Matt Lubick for fucts sakes... You go out and hire proven coaches and recruiters and it shouldn't matter what it costs to get them here. The assistants that you hire are equally important to the head coach, in my opinion, so I don't see the point of paying a head coach $6-10 million a year just to tighten the purse strings on his staff.
  12. I don't care we hire, I hope we put no monetary limitations on the coach hiring his staff. If you want to run with the big dogs you've got to learn to piss in the tall grass. It's time to quit f#&%ing around and step up and hire the best assistant coaches you can get.
  13. Sounds like Monken is that flavor of the day... Please for the love of god let's just get this search over with already.
  14. I agree with all of this. Matt Campbell was Trev’s #1 target going into this season. So did he do an about face when the script flipped this season on MC and Rhule became available? Hmmm. There’s so much smoke around Rhule at this point it’s hard to think it won’t be him but my gut is still telling me otherwise. Lane seems like a pipe dream but it’s a very similar comparison to Lincoln Riley bolting for USC last year. I would love if Trev could pull off the unthinkable..
  15. Pilot/plane availability possibly? With all this stuff not necessarily being 100% planned in advance could be an issue as I know the jets at Silverhawk have been tied up pretty well non stop lately . I mean you'd think if Trev Alberts says he needs a jet somebody would have one for him to use but that's about the only thing I can think of.
  16. Not saying he's going to taken a low salary because he won't. But it's pretty easy to think that we may be able to hire Rhule for a few million less because of his buyout from the Panthers. That's a few million a year that you can spend on coordinators. I would bet we will pay Mickey $800k+ to stick around (if he wants to). It would probably take north of $1 million to get a guy like Elijah Robinson here. Bottom line there are some advantages to hiring Rhule right now and extra cash to assemble a dream team staff would be a big one.
  17. That's some good info there! It's amazing how stats can look different if you dig a little deeper.
  18. I think it was evident to me pretty early in this game that they were playing not to get blown out and Harbaugh was nice enough to play along. I mean either way running the ball and the clock was a good strategy for them but I never felt like we had any intentions of actually winning this game after the first quarter.
  19. Yep, Trev seen the writing on the wall but he didn’t have the backing. I’m guessing Trev thought we’d be at minimum a 5-6 win team and he’d have to make a decision from there but this season has obviously completely went off the rails at this point.
  20. Interesting that they think Mickey is a real candidate for ASU.
  21. Yea they fired a coach that had went 68-35 with multiple conference championship game appearances. Oh wait.....
  22. Great to see UW still has our number
  23. I would think in the next couple of weeks the rumors will heat up and maybe we will get some real ideas of who we are zeroing in on. Although after the Riley hire we should learn to take everything with a big grain of salt until the hire is officially announced.
  24. Ultimately I think I’d like to see us go back to an scheme that incorporates the QB run game otherwise I’d like to see us run a version of the Chiefs offense. With some weapons like Palmer and Hill or Coleman that can really stretch the field with their speed and then with Fidone’s size and skill set you could use him like Travis Kelce. Problem is we still have to find an offensive line and there is only one Patrick Mahomes.
