  1. The numbers are tanking in California, they have been for years.
  2. California and New York have outlawed youth football before age 12-14 their youth numbers and high school numbers have been severely tanking for years. Eventually that affects your college numbers and fan numbers. Yes not every non player doesn’t hate the game, but almost every player does become a fan. the numbers are the numbers.
  3. If you think football is anything but an afterthought in new york massachusets new jersey new hampshire connecticut maine vermont rhode island it is barely hanging on in many areas of ghose states. I’ve been up there, it’s true. I guess Forbes is wrong too then lol Oh you don’t think it’s hanging by a thread in those places- I want what you’re smoking please
  4. Ok I’m glad you can admit that the passion people have for football varies in our country. The people in California and New Jersey care less about the game and it’s not part of the culture like it is in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Alabama. Georgia. Tennessee , Florida, South Carolina etc Pennsylvania is coal country, it’s not New York, mass, conn, Vermont, nh, Maine etc over time with as Forbes calls it the rapidly declining state of the game and it becoming a regional sport , the regions it survives in will not be the west or the northeast. The pac 12 has already shown they don’t care about football, their teams are weak with exception of Oregon and they are on the decline.
  5. We’ve been getting after school jobs to buy cars since the 1950s , that’s nothing new at all. Brett farce is an idiot and he did a great job of tutoring Armstrong into the yolo interception machine he became- thanks Brett, great job lol
  6. Yes the ducks draw to their tiny stadium thanks to China sweat shop nike. I’ve lived in Seattle/ Renton saw the buskers play on the lake and did a 5 month stint in California in 2015, and worked for a company there for 2 years and know many coaches there. I worked with a program in Bellevue Washington for a short time. I know what I’m talking about. One of my better friends just moved from Chino California to ft worth, mainly for football and cultural reasons. How does Oregon state, Washington state, cal, usc, UCLA , Colorado draw? USC and I UCLA hasn’t been a big deal for forever. what do their high school and youth numbers look like? Not good
  7. You seem to be saying here that football is equally loved in all of these places.
  8. I’ve never suggested that Nebraska returns to the big 12. What I am saying is all the evidence points to the fact football being regional in the future. Those regions for power 5 will not be distributed equallgg Th across the United States, long term it doesn’t survive power 5 in the northeast and far west. Texas and Oklahoma will never be without football, their culture would accept it. Other states would and will.
  9. If you think our country loves football equally everywhere and that we are the same culturally across our country, you couldn’t be more wrong.
  10. The nfl means nothing to the statement that the game is dying when high school and youth numbers tank and the future players and fans disappear. My best friend lives on Long Island, their high school had 8 incoming freshmen out, 5 years ago they had 30. gone are the j.v and frosh teams and the young kids get killed playing varsity. so they don’t stick around. if you know anyone up there In the northeast high school or youth, they will tell you the game has tAnked there. Parents Pooh Pooh the idea of even playing up there, snobbish almost like you are an uneducated idiot if you let your kids play
  11. Nebraska lags behind and traditionally Has had very high participation rates, especially in rural areas. Some schools out in western or rural areas of Nebraska often times had every single male in school playing. If you haven’t gone to see some of those teams like david city Aquinas or McCook play, it’s quite a deal. Our small towns are dying, that is one thing. Our numbers didn’t drop off heavily like so many of my friends teams In California and the northeast did back in the early and mid 2000s , ours came much later.
  12. yes cte is a factor, but like anything else, when something is very important to you, they are probably going to overlook it more than a place where football isn’t important. Im not sure why this is some kind of argument, if you’ve ever lived in other parts of the country like I have, there are definite cultural differences.
  13. In other threads I have said both northeast and far west
  14. Don’t take my word for it, Forbes says the data says football is declining and the decline is accelerating, also the future for football is as a regional sport https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/rogerpielke/2020/01/28/the-decline-of-football-is-real-and-its-accelerating/amp/
  15. Several states have taken the first steps in banning youth football before the age of I think 12 or 14. Very predictable who the states are California, Illinois, New York etc https://brainlaw.com/youth-tackle-football/ These are one of the first steps to making the game less popular and take the numbers down
  16. Great to see them getting out in front of this. Wishing them the best of luck. I’ve got to come up with a couple of teams to root for now. I like Campbell at Iowa State, gotta like the sorry equation at kstate and like kleiman. Love Gary Patterson at tcu, a Friend, then maybe Mack brown resurrecting North Carolina from the dead. Need someone to root for now, I love underdogs.
  17. Ohio state fans are livid, they are legit candidates for national championship and the heisman
  18. I have coaching friends all over the country and I’ve worked extensively in California. I get email and Facebook messages from some of them monthly. see the below article with data from Forbes according to them football is declining and it is “declining at an accelerated rate-“ and the game will be regional long term. Long term football will be a regional sport. The numbers have already crashed programs in the northeast and now the far west. Cte. Less participation in team sports, high costs It’s just an absolute fact that in some areas of the country football just isn’t important and is now considered to be part of a bygone idealistic Americana that many would like to see go away. I tracked down an article from Forbes this am that talks to what I’ve seen first hand almost to the letter https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/rogerpielke/2020/01/28/the-decline-of-football-is-real-and-its-accelerating/amp/
  19. Yes that may have been very true in the last couple of years, but the pac12 is a joke now and from a long term perspective football is going to be in Texas and Oklahoma for a long time, California. Oregon, Washington, Colorado-not so much. That limits options a bit and the big 10 isn’t letting in an Oklahoma state, Kansas state etc
  20. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZZI6-zh0GM
  21. Some Steps the pac 12 is taking in response to the player demands. Of course the appointment of a czar of racial diversity and inclusion along with committees lol What exactly does that mean, if a player had a birthday party or fishing trip-they are required to invite everyone? What if we only have cake enough for 12 guys, am I in trouble if i don’t buy a bigger cake and invite everyone to the lazer tag thing after? https://www.google.com/amp/s/pac-12.com/article/2020/07/01/pac-12-announces-initial-steps-combat-racism-and-promote-social-justice%3famp
  22. Spot on. Without cu and mu it doesn’t make sense. Oklahoma never saw us as a rival once the big12 came into being, Texas is their rival, then osu
  23. You left out the rest of the sentence “ and other racial justice programs” black lives matter was brought up in the article what 5- 6 times? In another article I read they mentioned black lives matter as an example of one of the preferred racial justice Programs . It’s the one getting the most press now. The article I read stated very clearly that racial quotas for coaches and administrators would equal the ratio of blacks on the team and would be phased in and required to be completed on a timetable that was complete in 4 years. Not sure if the players came off of that , but it was in an earlier proposal that I read.
  24. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ajc.com/sports/mike-check-blog/pac-12-players-using-their-power-to-demand-racial-justice-safety-compensation/W7RSF4TP5RDFXAPFMAMRRJOGDA/%3foutputType=amp good article talks about the 2 percent demand I’ll find the quota piece, I don’t archive all this stuff
