  1. This whole thing about the Huskers thinking about cancelling their game against the Sooners has me intrigued. A lot has been said about the subject and how can any of us outside of the internal workings be absolutely sure of what the facts are? Having said that there are potentially very interesting developments that can come from this game........ If it is in fact played ...which it looks like is likely....consider the implications. What if the Huskers rise up and find a way to beat the Sooners? I have seen stranger things happen in college football...sometimes the favored team just plain doesn't get it done. Sometimes a hungrier, less talented team finds a way to win. Stronger teams sometimes take games for granted and underestimate their foe and end up losing to teams they should not lose to. Having said that in my estimation this happens only because of the leadership of the underdog team. I believe this game is an opportunity for Frost to show his worthiness. The head coach of any football team is the determining factor....he is the one who must put all the parts together and coach them effectively enough to produce wins....particularly wins against superior teams. The Huskers seem to clearly be the underdog against the Sooners however if they prepare properly and execute a winning approach this game could end up being an extremely important win for the players, the program as well as the head coach and the administration that backs him. This is an opportunity for Frost, and I am hoping for and pulling for him to show all of his detractors that he has the skills to turn this program around, it's all on him. It is still my hope that Frost is that head coach who can find a way to get all he can from the players who he convinces to join his mission to win. I still believe he is someone who wants success for the Huskers perhaps more than most other head coaching options for the Huskers. This of course is no assurance of success but I am pulling for him to succeed. Go big Red!
  2. If this game would still end up cancelled I think I will find a replay of the 1997 Huskers vs Sooners and watch that ......Frost was a terrific player for the Huskers and I am still pulling for him to prove to be the coach that returns them to national prominence. Get it done Scott....Go big Red
  3. Ok. I hope Frost knows what he is doing and I am hoping this staff can all work together to turn things around for the Huskers. It is all on the head coach if they don't. To my way of thinking this next season will be critical....this coaching staff must produce an "improved" product or their positions should be in jeopardy......including the head coach. How much worse can it get than what we have endured these last three years? Expecting championships would be too optimistic, however at the VERY least a winning season and a bowl game should be the minimal expectation. This next year will be the fourth for Frost and it is imperative that he begin to show signs he may be able to turn this around. I still feel Frost is the right man for the job but the bottom line is he alone must find a way to get it done....he is the leader of the team....he alone is the one who directs all decisions regarding players and coaches so it is on him to get it done. I'm not going to attempt to second guess his decisions about coaching staff or what players he recruits and utilizes as he sees fit, but having said that he is entirely accountable for this one thing.....wins versus losses, that is entirely on him. Get it done Scott, Go Big Red!
  4. Happy holidays to all! Enjoy your family time and for all Husker players Merry Christmas and a happy new year , oh .....and don't neglect your offseason workouts All the best!
  5. To play or not to play? "Attitude reflect leadership....captain"
  6. I know this is obvious but it bears repeating....it is entirely on the head coach of all football programs to make the decisions and choices that will give the program the best chance of winning. So Frost's teams lack of success sits squarely on his shoulders. One can analyze every little detail of the performance of various players and or other coaches on the team but at the end of the day it all comes down to the Head Coach. I still am hopeful that Frost will turn the program around even though so far he has not performed nearly well enough. There appears to be nearly no signs of progress even though he continues to say he believes there has been. I surely hope I do not hear him blame the players for this loss, he needs to entirely own this loss and try to convince Husker fans and his team that he is still the man who can turn this around. I don't know what the answers are....that's his job to figure out and he is compensated extremely well so he either needs to get it done or step aside if he's not up to it. I'm still pulling for him even in spite of his dreadful performance mainly because I believe he does care deeply about the Huskers and has the heart of a winner. Honestly also I don't believe the school could find another top notch head coaching candidate that would have the same love for the program and or the willingness to take on such a big challenge. This year Frost's team has not shown improvement but rather from all appearances has regressed. I suppose it could be true , as he claims, that they have recruited a lot of young talent that may help turn this thing around, hopefully that is true. Having said that good coaching consistently gets the very best out of the talent they have available and it seems painfully obvious his leadership has not done that. I hate to say it but this year from all appearances is a complete wash, certainly no progress has been made and from all appearances the team has possibly gotten worse....from top to bottom....players and coaching. That's on Frost. I am hopeful he will find a way to fix it.
  7. Maybe Frost will get another contract extension after this debacle. This disaster is on Frost.
  8. This is very hard to watch. The Husker players don't seem as prepared to play as the Illinois players. I'm pulling for them but good grief.
  9. Go Big Red! This game may say a lot about Frost's progress in bringing the Husker's back to national prominence. Last week's win was a good one and it will be interesting to see how the team reacts to a win over a team that most would consider a formidable opponent, in spite of their win loss record. I submit the possibility that this game may well point to the direction of Frost's tenure. I say this because I think last week's win was extremely important for the Husker's.....perhaps more than anyone understands. This football program has been teetering on the edge between mediocrity and progress to greatness for quite some time. Nebraska football has the pedigree of football excellence but since Tom Osborne retired there has not been a man come along who could lead the Husker's in a manner fitting of the legacy of Nebraska football. Ultimately how the team plays tomorrow reflects back to it's leadership. Scott Frost played under the leadership of Tom Osborne, a man who found a way to lead the Huskers to national prominence and even national championships. I truly believe Scott is the right man for the job. He is Husker football thru and thru. I watched him play quarterback for the Huskers and saw the heart he displayed, the love he had for his team. I recall his plea for Nebraska's right to a national championship after he led his team to a win over Tennessee after a 13 and 0 season, I can still see it, will never forget it. That young man had heart and I believe that heart still beats in the man that leads the Huskers today. To Coach Scott Frost.......coach your team with that same heart you displayed when you played and we will ask nothing more. There is no place like Nebraska.....Go Big Red!
  10. I appreciate your very valid points. Having said that, Ramsey did find a way to win the game and his team is so far undefeated for the "season"....such as it is. When the game was on the line he made the plays necessary to win, not just with his arm but also his legs. Time will tell if he was a good choice for Northwestern and I am not saying he specifically would have been a good choice for the Huskers but only that it may be necessary to "look outside the box" to find a young man that would fit the bill. Not to belabor the point but that is what the Northwestern coach did and all I am saying is that perhaps Frost should pursue the same option.....for the quarterback position. Perhaps he has, I simply don't know, but I point to the loss of an opportunity to have a player of Joe Burrow's caliber with Nebraska ties slip away is quite telling. I also would add I am pulling for Adrian and or Luke to succeed at quarterback. As to Adrian all I am saying is so far he has not shown himself to be up to the task of consistent enough play to create winning seasons for the Huskers and his athletic abilities may serve the team better at a more suitable position, and that perhaps there is a player out there who might fit the bill to get the job done. I hope he turns it around and proves me wrong but so far his record and performance is lacking. I also don't want to just give up on Luke, perhaps he will prove to be fine quarterback material....to early to tell but he is a great athlete and without a doubt needs to be on the field as best Frost can work him into the game plan. Also as an example of utilizing talent I would mention that I watched and loved Frost's efforts as a player at quarterback for Nebraska but when he moved to the NFL he ended up not playing quarterback but at positions that utilized his considerable athletic abilities. Regarding Burrow I agree....who knows how he would have performed for the Huskers but remember he had Nebraska ties and would have brought his ties and affection for the program to the team. Hard to quantify those factors but I believe it would have been a major plus.
  11. Let me say first off that none of us have all the facts as to what Frost is up against in his efforts to improve the Huskers. What I am saying is it seems that he is missing out on potential quality players from the transfer portal that may well help in his quest to bring his team back to national recognition. Perhaps he has made efforts to convince some of these players to come to his program with no success. The other possibility is that he is so locked in to certain players that he has neglected to consider players that may give his team a better chance to win on a consistent basis. Case in point....Joe Burrow and quite frankly the QB who beat his team last Saturday.....a transfer that the Northwestern head coach had the vision to bring into his program and has so far proven to be a positive addition to their team. Here is some "thinking outside of the box" that I would submit....... Go find a quarterback who can play the position in a consistently positive way either in the transfer portal or by whatever rule abiding means are possible and coach up his starting and backup quarterbacks to switch to positions that would most benefit the team and quite frankly their own long term self interests. Both Adrian and Luke are terrific athletes and valuable to the team but I am suggesting that they would be far more dangerous to our opposition and more marketable to the NFL if their athletic talents were utilized at perhaps running back and or receiver. I do believe Frost is the right choice for the Husker's and again none of us have all the facts when it comes to his challenges and efforts. These are just some thoughts and are given with only the best of hopes for our beloved Huskers.
  12. What I find fascinating about this loss against Northwestern was we were beat by a team with a transfer QB from Indiana. To further the intrigue the starting QB at Indiana is leading an undefeated team with notable wins over Michigan, Penn State and also a win over Rutgers. Perhaps Frost may want to consider thinking outside the box when it comes to his roster, it's worth considering I think. I still believe Frost has a chance to turn things around at Nebraska but so far he is getting out coached and out recruited by much of our competition in the Big 10. He as much admitted this in his post game comments after the loss to Northwestern saying he takes the blame for the mistakes and lack of production by his team. I admire his candor and believe he is truly committed to bringing the Huskers back to national prominence but he is finding the job to be harder than he anticipated. Go Big Red!
  13. This is going to be a tough one, but then again aren't they all these days for the Huskers? Northwestern showed some true grit against the Hawkeyes on the road last week. That was a great win for them, and was a fun game to watch ( unless you are a Hawkeye fan....sympathy) . At home they will be tough to beat but I am hoping Frost takes a step forward coaching up the Husker's to a much needed road win.Go Big Red! Huskers 17 - Wildcats 14
