  1. This loss is 100% on special teams. God, they are an abomination. Giving up a punt return in that situation is like fouling a 3 point shooter at the buzzer in a 4 point game. It’s like walking 4 straight hitters on 16 pitches with a 1 run lead and 2 outs in the 9th. It’s stuff that SIMPLY CANNOT HAPPEN! The offense and defense played their asses off. The special teams sold them out.
  2. This was a win. Until our idiot punter kicked the ball left when the punt coverage guys were heading right. How can we screw that up? HOW CAN WE SCREW THAT UP???!!!??! The only way Nebraska loses the game is if they f*ck up that punt. A punt. A fundamental football play. We fuc*ed that up in epic fashion. That was a bruising Big Ten football game that NU’s offense and defense did enough to win. On the road. Then fu**ing idiots on Special Teams gave it away.
  3. Yes - I saw the same thing. Coverage guys are running to the right; dumbfu*k punts it left. Incredible. That was when we could have used the classic 7 yard shank out of bounds. God, the Special Teams piss me off.
  4. We learned that there is no bottom when it comes to special teams. How low can those losers go? JFC, the offense and defense played their asses off and were in position for the best win in 4 years. Then, special teams. Special Teams. = LOSERS!!!!
  5. MSU had 0 first downs in the 2nd half. What, 5 yards of offense in the second half? Eff the special teams. Walk home, you fuc**** losers. You lost this game, you fuc**** hacks.
  6. Another loss directly on the special teams. It defies explanation how that aspect of the team can be so utterly incompetent. You will have to look a long time at all levels of football to find special teams that are worse than Nebraska’s. I am just shaking my head at how Nebraska could continue to f*ck this up.
  7. That article did a great job of illustrating the issues. I mean, we all knew that Special Teams have cost NU several games during Frost’s tenure - but that was an excellent outline of just how catastrophic the mistakes have been. How many wins have we given away? Which also begs the question about how many bowl games we’ve missed because of Special Teams? How many recruits dismiss NU because they want to play for a winner? It is an enormous problem. That Frost has not figured out how to make Special Teams just neutral, is alarming.
  8. NU really needs this one if they hope to make a bowl game. I think NU will be favored in just two more games this year…Purdue and Northwestern. They are going to have to win on the road as an underdog at some point if they hope to break the string of seasons without a bowl.
  9. We learned that NU is capable of playing well - at times, and in certain aspects of the game. The offense moved the ball better than I thought they would. The defense slowed OU down more than I thought they would. We also learned that NU Special Teams continue to be an abomination. It is mind-boggling how this aspect of the team can lose so many games. Why can’t they fix it? We also learned that the Illinois loss is going to be a dark cloud that hovers over the entire season. NU will struggle to get 4 more wins and bowl eligibility. I’m afraid they will win 3 more…
  10. I wonder if anyone has thought about what the difference would be had NU made the 35 yard FG and made the PAT instead of giving up a safety (the 2nd Special Teams safety of the season, BTW). Hmmmmm
  11. I feel like a time-bomb is ticking. Just waiting for OU to go off.
  12. JFC - we have to call a timeout before we punt? SMH…
  13. Well, my expectations have been exceeded. OU faced a 3rd down and NU had a first down. And points! I still think this will be a route - the penalties seem to ensure it.
  14. LOL...I was exactly the same way. I couldn't read the sports page or watch ESPN or other highlight shows until they turned attention to the next week.
  15. I’m old enough to remember how loooonnnnnggg the week leading up to a game against a top 10 opponent would seem. I remember the anxious days leading up to those critical games against OU. I literally couldn’t sleep the night before. Tonight - I will sleep well. I know Nebraska has almost no chance to win. I know Nebraska has very little chance to compete and have a respectable showing. I’ll watch the game, hoping that maybe we’ll see something that provides some optimism for the rest of the season, but expecting an embarrassing blowout. Sigh…
  16. I saw that. It’s hard to imagine NU keeping it that close. I think this will be a 48-13 type of game.
  17. We learned very little that is new. The defense was strong pretty much all day. Much tougher tests remain for them, of course. The offense continues to be pitifully inefficient. The big plays were nice, but needing to rely on that is a recipe for failure. Special teams continue to be a joke. A bad joke that your crazy uncle tells at every family gathering. In short - we didn’t learn anything we did not already know.
  18. You are right that it’s lame to be worried about this game, yet here we are. I wish I had confidence in Frost, but I just don’t. I will be thrilled to proven wrong - Long Term, not just this weekend. If Frost is able to make NU an annual contender in the B1G West, I won’t shut up about how wrong I would have been.
  19. Losing that Illinois game not only means NU has no margin for error at all, it also means they are going to need to win a game you don't expect them to win. While that would include OU and OSU, I do not necessarily mean either of those games. Instead, NU is going to need to take care of business against Buffalo this week, as well as Northwestern and Purdue at home. That only adds up to 4 wins....meaning, they will need to win on the road at MSU, Wisconsin, or Minnesota...or beat Michigan or Iowa at home. How good do you feel about NU's chances in any of those last 5 games I listed? As of today, I imagine NU would be an underdog in every one of them. NU is going to have to upset at least one team to make it to a bowl game. At least one.
  20. You are right - assuming we beat Buffalo (which is not a sure thing at all), NU is going to have to beat 4 Big Ten teams. Where are the 4 wins? I'm writing off OSU as a loss now. Same with OU (even though that is a non-con). It is reasonable to think NU might (MIGHT) be able to beat Purdue and Northwestern at home. That's 2. I suppose NU will have a shot at MSU and Minnesota - though I suspect NU will be an underdog in both. You certainly cannot pencil in either of those games as a win. That leaves us with home games against Michigan and Iowa, and a road game at Wisconsin. I think NU is going to have to win at least 1 of those games in order to get to 6 wins. They may need to win 2, or even all 3. I just don't see it. I have seen nothing from Scott Frost's teams in 3+ seasons that indicates they can rise to the occasion often enough to get to 6 wins. In fact, I think we are going to end up with 5, gnashing our teeth at giving away that Illinois game.
  21. Eventually NU took over. I could do without the sloppy start. Just not much you can take away from a game like this.
  22. It’s nice that Morrison got a TD. but rotating backs every series keeps all of them from getting into rhythm. Stepp was running downhill on the previous drive - then he sits.
  23. God, the offensive line is a complete disaster.
