  1. I want to see team cohesion consistently on game days. Continuity has been lacking much attributable to not having a clear vision or, team identity. It's like we've had teams with decent players for so long now under-performing, playing somewhat aimlessly. Like an engine that briefly runs well, sputters badly sometimes and everything in between. We want to get to a place where we're functioning well as a whole unit not merely as players desperately attempting to perform individual tasks. With cohesiveness will come flow and sustained momentum. The bonding, chemistry and culture building is going to pay real dividends in this regard translating into a team knowing how to gear down and punch back and win. Sort of like velocity or having torque because all the components are working well together synergistically. Enough of the contributors haven't been being done well enough to cause that to occur as a consequence. A series of different head coaches hasn't helped.
  2. It's difficult to judge success simply on wins taking into consideration strength of schedule and, other factors... Let's say year 1 is good, a decent improvement. We get to a bowl or, nearly. 5-6 wins. More than we have for some time. Year 2, go 8-4. Year 3, 6-7 wins. The progress doesn't seem to be there although, the competition was considerably tougher. Much of the competition was pretty fierce yet we fair pretty well. Some bad showings and others that were fairly impressive given what we were up against. You've got to be beating most if not all the opponents you should be winning against. Then on year 4, there's a record of 9-3 or 10-2 as your QB gains experience, there's solid depth, a group of real play-makers on the team and other considerations. There are a variety of scenarios that would be positive or negative indicators. Year 2 will have a lot to do with the success of years 3, 4 and beyond. Coach Rhule knows this. I'm confident in year 2. Year 1 is going to be real challenging yet though there will be indications for being encouraged. I don't see the progression being much like Temple and Baylor was. The improvement should come sooner though a bit more gradual and varying.
  3. Almost only counts in horseshoes and something that makes a huge bang. Frost didn't have any clear objectives or vision and his rather careless leadership was evident. The cohesion has been lacking. As you say, win! We'll get there.
  4. I'll take the person that's got the drive and determination to be successful every time. Those that don't waist opportunities making the most of them. The pool is there and you do your best to identify the characteristics. The player has to want to win, be successful and the coach and the staff do what they can for the player to want to be successful and win. Dylan Raiola seems to have both the desire and talent to be successful. Quite mature I'd say. It doesn't appear at all that he deems himself entitled to anything and that for him to be successful will require work. He thought through his decision conducting himself professionally. No one knows for sure what level of success he'll have. We know his chances are better in his favor based upon his work ethic and other various characteristics.
  5. There's been a real sense of urgency from day 1. They've been approaching every aspect of what it takes to be successful and getting after it. I really don't think Scott Frost believed that he could be successful here. There was a lack of confidence and commitment. The press conferences were about as dreadful as the the outcomes of our games. He was lost. Matt Rhule has his staff functioning at a high level meeting the challenge before them head on with enthusiasm. There's a whole different energy than previous. Teams are a large part a reflection of their leadership. There's got to be the right kind of chemistry going on driving success. There's a good feel to it that's attractive to players. How is a player supposed to get on board when there's doubt or the comfort and confidence isn't there...There's a sense of knowing that this guy and his staff have what it takes for them to experience success. That they have the answers. Year one is going to be somewhat rough. There's going to be some growing pains. The changes are going to be much more evident in year two.
  6. The athlete has to be willing to put in the work. Be committed. That's what's required to be successful. And coaches meeting them there doing likewise. Predecessors can't do that for them. History and tradition can only do so much. No, but you can honor that tradition and history through putting forth the effort. Contributing your personal best for yourself and your team. You can have all the talent and potential in the world. It doesn't matter much if one's not truly interested. At least, it's not nearly enough. We can't just talk toughness mentally or physically. Having a sharp skill set. Not words. But living it. And that, is what will return us to experiencing successes again. And it's not about the program, it's the people that make the program function. A real sense of belonging, authentically a part of it. All of it operating as one unit cohesively. Much of what we've been lacking is cohesion. A common, shared purpose. It's that kind of culture that will ensure that we can compete with anyone. Matt Rhule identifies talent sure. The "secret sauce" though is his identifying who really wants to be winners and providing them everything to achieve that aim. It can be hard and fun at the same time. The two can coexist together! There's something cooking in Lincoln. I am so appreciative what coach and his staff are doing. Lots of heavy lifting going on. It's genuine. And they're busting their butts to shift coarse and get back to winning games.
  7. It’ll be entertaining seeing team Sanders getting knocked around game after game and the herd leaving the field with their tails between their legs.
  8. One’s field of vision and focus can be improved upon considerably with practice. Years ago as part of my training I’d look down a long line of twine with different sizes, shapes and colors of beads at different distances focusing on each individually from the bridge of my nose extended in different directions. The mind body connection and responses can be improved as well. It’s really not playing against but with the opponent. Fluid and flowing navigating the avenues that are presented as opposed to having rigid responses.
  9. And you ARE Scott Frost. It’s completely understandable.
  10. Everything is terrible. We’re screwed. There is no hope! In reality, it’s somewhere in between horrible and great. We’ve collectively been chugging the sweet stuff. A lot of things are being thrown at these guys and we’re nowhere where we want to be. Many different things to consider. We’ve got lots of work to do sure. We’ve just gotta trust the process. Keep on grinding away and fulfilling the commitment of improving. We’re just not a 9-3 team. Nowhere near it. They’ll get better!
  11. His performance today sucked. Bulk him up and make him a fullback!
  12. Most encouraged by the defense and play of quarterback Simms. We just don’t have experienced deep threats. That’s an area we’re probably going to have a challenge with for some time to come until those speedsters get some seasoning. Expected a little more production from our backs. Maybe some of that’s the strength of the run defense. Part of that’s not having a legitimate vertical threat. Not much at all for break away runs there. Physically the team looks leaner and a bit more agile. The offensive line in particular to me seemed to me to have improved movement. Both lines were more fluid. TE Gilbert struck out the times that he had opportunities. The tight ends will be integral. Haarberg’s play was also disappointing. Too many fumbles. The defense will likely carry the team. At least in the earlier stages of the season. They’re missing some pieces and played well. Coach White should have a formidable group. It’d be great if we could make at least one good addition to the O-line. It’ll be interesting how the QB competition between Thompson and Simms plays out. We’ll have two solid quarterback options.
  13. Quick toss to Gilbert or handoff to Gabe.
  14. Heinrich Haarberg and Deshon Singleton are a couple I’m looking forward to seeing what they can do. Both have been working hard.
  15. Make, model, year, color, plate number, description of subject lol
  16. Can see situations where punting like that would be advantageous. Makes sense. And why not first down! You’re nearing the end of the third quarter. Team is up 30 or more points. Iowa comes to mind. Maybe Colorado. Your defense just forced a three and out. Opponents offensive players have been mouthy all week leading up to the contest about how they’re going to run all over you. They’re down to their second or third string quarterback. Less experienced players on defense could use some in game experience. Go ahead and punt back once you’ve received the ball and continue to deliver the annihilation!
  17. Punt on third down “to be safe”. Why wait, might as well on first. Defense!
  18. Runza was wrong variety and wasn’t warm. Soda was flat. Gotta make changes!
  19. What you smoke’n! There aren’t going to be any fear-based, irrational overreactions… Isn’t gonna happen!
