  1. That attitude got us real far the last 4 years, yes I agree we should just go after stars no matter where they are from.---NOT!!! i don't know about stars, but i do think we should go after talent. The lesson from BC should be that it takes more than just talent. Not that talent doesn't matter at all.
  2. For one a comment like that makes the assumption that you think there is not enough talent around here to field a high quality team i said no such thing. i want kids that can play. if they come from NE great. if they don't, that should be great too. ND doesn't make it a point to win with Indiana kids, Michigan doesn't require their roster to be from MI. USC doesn't require their starting QBs to come from CA. i don't see why we should limit ourselves when the top programs don't.
  3. i wish the talk from the staff was more about getting players because of their ability vs. where they are from.
  4. I guess the backup backup plan worked and he did get a Nebraska scholarship. Good to hear. Also seems he and his father have been checking out the message boards and saw how we all liked his hitting, just another reminder to watch what you say about these young men because yes they do read them, and even though it's some guy on the internet it does have an affect on them and it isn't always positive like it was this time. i agree about not jumping to conclusions about people, but at the same time this is a message board. Posters should have the right to voice their opinion be it good or bad. It's generally wise for a player not to pay too much attention to message boards anyways. I'm sure C. Grixby has some thoughts on this. That said, Wald's hits were very nice (and refreshing)
  5. true, but you don't seem to be asking questions about our recruiting or researching our recruits so much as commenting about the Buff's situations. maybe i'm wrong. only you know your reasons for being here, i'm just skeptical that they are as "curious" as you make them out to be.
  6. For some reason, i doubt you came over here to check into our recruiting and just thought you'd mention Scotts commit in passing
  7. Sounds like a good pick up for them, but the Buffs recruiting isn't high on my priority list at the moment.
  8. lol not sure what is funny about that: http://www.shreveporttimes.com/apps/pbcs.d...352/1001/SPORTS meant to quote the post after that. fixed it.
  9. i don't think he would announce to Miami, only to actually sign with someone else just a couple hours later.
  10. welcome to Tim. But i have to ask: we have room for Marlowe but not for Wald?
  11. i think he wrote us off a while ago
  12. i think the more likely case is that they had room for one more safety and preferred PJ; Wald was more of a back up plan.
  13. fwiw, i also heard a rumor that Wald was on board a week ago, but the coaches were waiting on a decision from PJ before taking him. i don't know if this is true, but it is possible.
  14. Heard the staff told him we no longer have room for him after PJ Smith commit.
  15. From NOLA.com http://www.nola.com/sports/ by Mike Strom Monday February 04, 2008, 1:37 PM Curtis defensive back P.J. Smith and Destrehan's Jerico Nelson are headed north, and in Smith's case make that way north. Curtis's Smith celebrated Carnival's Lundi Gras by verbally committing to Nebraska and new Coach Bo Pelini on Monday. Pelini was defensive coordinator this past season for LSU's BCS national championship team. Nelson, a running back and safety, will realize his dream of playing Southeastern Conference football after switching his commitment from Purdue to Arkansas and Coach Bobby Petrino Sunday during an official visit to Fayetteville.
  16. Maybe we should wait to celebrate till this becomes official. Sounds like PJ might want it that way anyhow.
  17. But next year that will leave us with 6 experinced lineman and two redshirt frosh. Isn't that a pretty thin rotation for an O line, especially factoring in a likely injury or two?
  18. a little, especially since i'm not real confident in the under classmen we have now. The 2* walk on makes me feel a little better, but i am concerned too.
  19. Makes you wonder why Oregon isn't more consistently in the top 10 like USC. If it's not the recruiting and not the facilities, that only leaves the coaches to be dragging it down.
  20. Are you saying that this kid is going to be as good as Sanders, or are you giving an example where a kid was completely overlooked but went on to be successful?
  21. isn't it a little strange that none of the SEC schools oferred him?
  22. Perhaps the third time is the charm
  23. along that note I dont think they have pu thorson on our list. he is a 2 star and should help us move up. i don't think they will because he's walking on, and thus not a part of the scholarship class.
