  1. I didn't punch holes in the walls, but I'd be ok with forfiting the rest of the b12 games. Piss on them! They should be ashamed and beebe should be prosecuted!
  2. I wonder if the staff is on another recruit and there is more to the story than any of us know? We are filling up and getting highschool kids, normally, is the priority. Also, it is a priviledge to get an offer for free tuition and a college education, but you also have to earn it. I don't know what is going on with the grades, but if it is a motivation issue...... move on, if not, I hope he makes it where ever he decides to go.
  3. That type of play should be discouraged, if we are truely trying to protect players from being injured intentionally. Unfortunatelly, the beebe gun could get some redemption for suspending a ISU player, sense ISU is not a big dog in the Big TX/OK conference. This is a no win, if a suspension is issued, it's the right thing but can and will be looked at as "covering his rear" and no call, he's biased and should step down. There has been some helmet to helmet hits with obvious intent by bigger teams, within the last couple weeks. Those should have been at least commented on and I believe in the interrest of protecting players this kid should also be suspended, there is no place for this crap. The comments about ISU not being a "big-player in the B12" is not ment as a knock, it is what it is, in the B12.
  4. I fully agree the officiating has been absolutely terrible. I do however believe the touch-down was a touch down and the right call. And we absolutely cannot leave any game to be decided by big twelve refs. I don't have the time or you all would hate to read my umteen pages of complaints with the big 12, so I won't go there (your welcome). We all understood it will be an uphill battle this year. Us leaving the B12 is huge and nobody is happy with that decision, outside NU. I find myself complaining about the officiating way too much and have to watch that. It will be very nice to say goodbye to the B12. It's been a cluster since its inception. In the words of Clint Eastwood or William Money "deserves got nothing to do with it". (Unforgiven) Go Big Red, Goodbye Big 12! I agree that he was in on that play, the problem is, the only clear-cut view that would show that is the camera right down the goal line. That's the only true view to show whether the ball has crossed the line, unless you have the camera on wires directly above. Crick was blocking the view of that camera therefore there was no clear view of the ball crossing the plane. The rear view shows where the ball was and where he was, but there's no way to tell where the goal line is at the time. The call on the field was no touchdown, and I still don't understand what they saw to overturn that call. You are right about the call and no clear cut evidence on video. I just like to see wrong calls made right. If the refs truely didn't see it, they should call no TD. But with the video, I believe (short of absolute, clear cut video) it was obvious. If you go by the rules set for replay.. the call on the field should have been upheld. Imo, it was a TD and righfully called. I just wish there was more common sense used, wich isn't going to happem but, jmo. GBR!!!
  5. i thought it was crazy for them to kneel it to, but after a little introspection, i realized it was for selfish reasons. i wanted them to try to drive it down so we would get a pick. they would have to throw. even dinged up, i like our odds at a turnover, over their's at getting into fg range. Good point, but I think I would have tried to get down the field, at least. That may be why I sit and watch the game and form useless opions. LOL I'm just dam happy we won with all the garbage that went on.

  7. I simply couldn't believe, with the amount of time left (40 secs?), he chose to take a knee and had time outs left. That was mind boggling for me. As far as the decision to go for two.... great call! He would have been a genious if it worked and the only bad part of it was the wounded duck of a pass thrown. The receiver was wide open and a properly thrown pass would have gotten there easily and to top it off, they had the numbers in the flats as well. If he would have thrown it to the flats the numbers were there as well. Prince was alone with two offensive players. I had visions of a option type win. After all the ifs and shoulda-couldas, my impending heart attack receeded. I would have been upset as a Iowa St fan, but only because it didn't work. It was a big gamble with a possiblility of a huge payoff (which very easily coulda and shoulda worked). Kudo's! The only thing that upset me was the fact that his complaining seemed to change the mind of the ref's on the Helu fumble/extended play.
  8. If we're going to throw Cy under the bus for a few posts against our Huskers and Husker fans, we're going to have to part ways with about half of HuskerBoard membership, and about half of all Husker fans in general. Bagging on the Huskers/Husker fans isn't just an outsider thing. Truth to tell, Cy is just doing what a BUNCH of Husker fans already do. i understand where you are coming from knapp and in fact you, him, and i have all been here since the same month of the same year so we have both seen him from the beginning and over the last 6 months or so more and more of his posts have been like this one. all im saying is at what point does his "legend" run out?? imo just because the guy writes a few funny posts here and there (i have laughed at them myself)it doesnt make him any different than huckfusker when he writes the same type of stuff. an opinion is an opinion and trolling is trolling. thats just my opinion. This post is somewhat offensive, but I agree with you guys. Cy has had the same type of posts as most of us. I too, have been a member for quite some time. I may not post as much as some, but I am just as guilty of posting a few, not so positive, things. My opinion is to cut cy some slack, he certainly posts stuff I've enjoyed reading and I for one would not agree with any action taken for a little venting. If this is found to be too offensive, maybe the woodshed is the place for it? Fact is, cy has had some very good posts and has been pretty honest with his/her feelings whether it be good or bad for his team. Lightening up may be the best for all readers? JMHO Go Big Red!
  9. Behind-closed-doors... sure. In the eye of the press... NO he would be the next target of the beebe gun.
  10. Exactly, I would love to see that posted here. The hit on Martinez is described by the statement from the B12 to a tee. And it was intentional and vicious, headbut and late hit. Aparently the QBs should pay attention and be tougher than other players???? WOW
  11. Heck, after today and seeing Martin's situation, this kid would be suspended for a hit like that. Tennis not foot... wait this is football right? Good hit, I for one love it.
  12. I'll be the first to say, I think him being suspended is just crap. Maybe college football should look over whatever concerns them about saftey or whatever, but to suspend a kid when he wasn't even flagged for his play is out of line. We've all seen big hits and it happens. Change a few rules if needed. He doesn't deserve to be suspended. I'm curious to hear others opinions on this.
  13. The hit on Martinez was by a guy coming into the backfield at maybe 75% speed, hitting Martinez standing still. Had his head not snapped into the ground the initial hit (while illegal) was not all that bad. The hit by Martin (regardless of legality) was 2 guys running nearly full speed in oposite directions. It was a head on collision - for you to say it wasn't any worse than the one on Martinez dumbfounds me. Well, not really because Martinez was wearing red and the guy Martin hit was in orange. So you think he is a pure passer and doesn't need a lot of work in that area? Don't get me wrong, I love Martinez as a passer - but if you're saying this is a BS statement because he had 1 game of 350+ yards - in a game where Okie Lite schemed to do nothing more than stop the run because we'd been one dimensional all season (beacuse Martinez is not a pure passer) - then you've had a little too much koolaid and need to step back for a second. I guess we can agree to disagree on a couple things. Pure passer... no, but not as bad as they made it sound. I understand them having doubts about his passing ability, but by that time he was doing as well as anyone I've seen this year. And Oki st was not running away with the game as they were trying to portray. As far as the Martinez hit, that was a vicious hit! He is not as small as he seems and he flew back several yards, bouncing his head off the ground. Ive seen QB's not get up after a hit like that. It may not be as bad as two people going seperate directions, but that defensive player was huge and hit with, what seemed like, the intent to almost head but him. I was just making the point that the hit was way worse than I thought. You should expect a few giant hits on special teams, not after you throw the ball as a QB. The color of the jersy or who was on wich team means nothing when it comes to penalties or hits as far as Im concerned. They were both big hits and I would say both violent and I think more was made of one hit than the other, unjustly imo. AND I'll say Martin being suspended is ABSOLUTE CRAP! I keep finding reasons to be happier we are leaving the B12.

  15. it was a clean hit. kid should have been paying more attention and i bet he will next time. what should martin have done? gone for his legs? slowed down and two hand touched him? yelled out "excuse me, sir, i'm headed in your direction"? it's part of the game. Although it is unfortunate when a player gets hurt, it is part of the game and this is not tennis. He lowered his shoulder, with the intent of hitting with his shoulder. Sh*t happens and this is football. I remember when the only thing said was "you need to keep your head on a swivel out there". In other words, special teams are dangerous and you need to keep your eyes open as much as possible. People should get over it, there was no ilegal intention or action. Football, football, football.. The thing to remember in this situation is that the player he hit is NOT seriously hurt. He's ok, Gundy confirmed it. Eric was doing his best to make a play for our team. He's probably the most intense, craziest player we have, and I personally love him for that. He brings some attitude to our team. He was trying to lay a block, and he did so, and inadvertently MAY HAVE used his helmet. If in fact he did, he certainly didn't mean to, and was just doing his part on special teams. I get the feeling a lot of the people who feel it was a dirty hit (it wasn't) are somewhat swayed by the bonehead announcers. They were full of crap, and obviously biased against NU. For example, when the Okie Lite player got the personal foul later on in the game for the helmet hit on Taylor, they said something to the effect of "That's just part of the game." Way to make it obvious, guys. You hit the nail on the head there! The kid was not seriously hurt and will pay attention next time. The anouncers are the only ones that had an issue and were FOS all game. The anouncers were just plain anoying. I rewatched this game last night and the hit on Martinez, they called "just part of the game", was intentional with the head being brought down in an effort to make helmet to helmet contact. If Martinez wasn't so tough, he would have been hurt just as bad, if not worse than the special teams hit. That was a vicious shot, much worse than I first thought. After watching that a couple times, We have one tough SOB at QB. :-) I also heard "even with the score what it is, it seems like Ok st is taking control". Morons LOL LOL Also "Martinez is not a pure passer and needs alot of work in that area".... 350+ yrds passing..... time to wake up from that nap. LOL LOL

  17. I also agree, Hagg is certainly under rated. He would start at any school.
  18. I felt Will didn't tackle real well last year and was general disapointed with his play. I'm not trying to talk smack, it is just what I saw. He has the size Gnomes lacks, but no where near the big play ability. And it would be horrible to see him take David's spot. I have absolutley loved seeing David's play this year, he has the potential to be one of the best to play at Nebraska. It's his first year playing.... really??? He has performed better than any LB I've seen in the last several years.
  19. that is Awesome! At least in theroy. I needed a good laugh, thanx!
  20. Time to go gopher hunting? Somebody call Carl Spackler (caddyshack) tell him to get his equipment together!
  21. Playing your gaps is a big part of the D-line, but being disruptive and helping the d-backs is also. I don't see our line doing either very often. I'm not sure what the deal is, wether it is the game plan or what. We really need to have at least one lineman step up and put pressure on the QB and at least make them get rid of the ball faster. It seems QBs have had all day to do whatever they want back there. Thank god for our secondary! I have seen Crick through a few linemen around this year, but I haven't seen that grit and determination we saw last year. And, I really don't think Suh is the reason for the drop in performance, other than his leadership missing. Don't get me wrong, Suh was amazing and almost had to have a devine intervention to be in the right place all the time. Do we even have any real leadership on this d-line? (that is an honest question, not retoricle or demeaning) Crick wanted to play in a manner that would open up Suh last year and Suh told him to make is plays and let him worry about himself. That changed the d-line in a huge way. I wonder if some of the same thing is happening? Either way, we are not putting pressure on anyone and look like we are being man handled, game plan or not. Maybe Carl needs to get back to the d-line and work out the kinks? This has been one of the biggest suprises for me, this year.
  22. There isn't one person on this board and not even a handfull in the country that could have called a better game. I've had my gripes about Wats, but in this game... Wow the play calling was as good as it gets. Like most have said, chatch the ball and we would have embarrased them. Playcalling was deffinately not an issue. I don't like to see games like this one and the ISU debacle, but the coaches can't play and I honestly think they do all they can to keep the kids level headed and on the right track. It is just VERY frustrating to see our team beat themselves.... This reminds me of the Arizona st. game in... 96(I think). It sucks but it happens to everyone. The up and down, who knows what is going to happen, always a chance for a big play and not haveing a supperstar in every position on the field is why I like college football so much and don't really care to watch pro ball. JMO Lets just hope we are able to take out some frustration on OSU this week. GBR!!
  23. I think on defense, there will be a few breakouts. Lovonte David, Prince, I have a feeling about Hagg too and (at least he better) Thenarse. If I were Thenarse and watched my tackling in that game, I would hit like a mule and wrap up for sure! On offense, Burkhart, Helu, Reed, C Green and Martinez. If this happens, who cares who does best, we win big! :-) GBR!
  24. I fully agree! But, it has always been this way, well almost always. The Huskers beat a solid team, ranked or not, and that team suddenly was over rated and really wasn't that good, even if they finish strong and ranked. Therefore, all I care about is a Husker win. Let someone else sort it out. :-) GBR!!!!
